Rui sharpened his eyes as he watched the Dragon Emperor unleash a maelstrom of gamma radiation lasers at him from all directions. With a single wave of his hand and a deep breath underwater, Rui shifted his fractal hydrolens, causing the gamma radiation to refract away from him violently.

The sheer energy flux of the attack boiled the waters, causing a surge of bubbles to erupt around Rui, impeding his vision and his senses.

The Dragon Emperor used the opening to surge forth, unleashing a powerful claw attack against his target.

And yet, it was within Rui’s predictions.

He had already dodged it even before the attack began. Lord Shenlong snarled as he raised his foot, stomping the ground with an astronomical amount of force.

Rui watched with a hint of shock as he leaped away, evading the titanically destructive shockwaves that erupted from the collision, spreading across the ocean and the ocean floor.

CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK!

Rui’s eyes widened as he watched cracks spread across the ocean floor, stretching many thousands of kilometers in the distance, while digging dozens of kilometers deep. “Stop…”

He gritted his teeth. “Stop! You’ll cause an extinctive event, you fool!”

It was an absurd thing to say that a single living creature could cause an extinction event, but Rui had already run into a few of them.

The Eldritch Chimera almost destroyed the entire planet and even the solar system, while Jormungandr could wipe out all life with a single motion. The Dragon Emperor was certainly not as extreme as either of them, but Rui sensed that this creature alone had entered the realm of extinction-level power.

If he caused enough damage to the crust, he could create active volcano sites that could unleash a level of destruction simply unseen on the planet since the Epoch of Evolution, more than 187,000 years ago, that gave birth to the Era of Tumult within the true world.

These kinds of extinction events were not a joke; they were powerful enough to truly alter the entire planet. There were periods in Earth’s history where such events had lasted many millions of years, utterly wiping out almost all life and ninety-nine percent of all species at the time.

It wasn’t just empty paranoia on Rui’s part, either.

He could sense the real possibility of an existential threat to all life within Gaia. With the Eye of Prophecy, he could see faint visions of a future where Gaia was covered in magma.

In that moment, the Dragon Emperor truly possessed the ability to bring about the destruction of all life. The sheer horror of this reality set in Rui’s stomach with heavy dread as he gazed into the yellow, reptilian eyes of the Dragon Emperor.

“I can smell your fear.”

Chills crawled across Rui’s skin.

“Yet…” the Dragon Emperor continued with an eerie, ominous rumbling voice. “…It is not your own life that you fear, but that of everybody else’s.”

The world shook unsteadily.

The ocean floor tremored with fear.

The waters at the depth of the ocean roared as the absolute darkness they were submerged within seemed to come alive with the peril that hung in the atmosphere.

The only source of light was the Dragon Emperor’s apocalyptic red scales that illuminated his frenzied gaze.

And then, a smile emerged on his dragon face.

A smile of pure malevolence.

He lifted his foot as he unleashed a wave of pure destruction.

“No—!”

Rui gritted his teeth, leaping away as a maelstrom of devastation emerged across the ocean floor, causing the cracks to deepen even more, as Rui’s prophetic visions showed him even more apocalypses that awaited them in the future.

Rui’s eyes widened as the Dragon Emperor appeared before him in the blink of an eye, catching him off guard for the first time in the battle.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

CRACK CRACK CRACK!

“Rgh!!!” Rui grimaced as the Dragon Emperor’s tail blasted into him with an unimaginable amount of power, ravaging the bones in his body, leaving them cracked and broken in several places.

It took Rui every ounce of concentration that he had to maintain his pressure equalizer, lest the ocean crush him into a shapeless mound of flesh the size of a basketball. Despite his high pain tolerance, it wasn’t easy to maintain a perfectly high internal pressure to cancel out external pressure.

All this while the Dragon Emperor chased after him with a violent frenzy.

BOOOOOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOM BOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

The Dragon Emperor unleashed a maelstrom of omnidirectional destruction with his body, making it impossible for Rui to evade his attacks. Rui gritted his teeth as he did his absolute best to defend against them with the Body of Water and Flux Earther combined.

The damage he sustained slowed down Rui’s Weaving Blood, forcing him to shift to Nemean Blossom if he didn’t want to die to the astronomical amount of power that the Dragon Emperor was capable of effortlessly unleashing.

That wasn’t all.

“Let us see you parry my gamma radiation in the state that you’re in.”

Rui’s eyes widened as the Dragon Emperor’s body began glowing and shining even brighter, unleashing a maelstrom of radiation unlike anything Rui had ever seen in his entire life.

Rui felt a tremendous amount of pain coursing through his body as he barely managed to parry the incoming gamma radiation rays. Only to find the Dragon Emperor behind him, unleashing a tremendously powerful blow.

It was within his predictions.

And yet, outside of his abilities to fully evade.

The Dragon Emperor batted Rui away with a viscerally destructive surge of power, flinging him across the ocean. Rui barely managed to minimize the force by angling away from it and rolling with the blow, while dispersing as much of it as he possibly could.

And yet, the Dragon Emperor was on a roll.

The only thing he needed was a slight opening, one that could allow him to gain a domineering advantage that he would capture with a frenzy and turn into a decisive victory.

A vicious, wide smile emerged on the Dragon Emperor’s face as he unleashed a maelstrom of destruction upon Rui, threatening to annihilate him then and there.
