Chapter 3474: Wormhole Impediments
Chapter 3474: Wormhole Impediments
Rui raised an eyebrow as he gazed at the man with a stunned expression. “Five days…?”
Lord Vakratunda nodded. “In five days, we will have to be ready for the battle. We will need to prepare everything in order to ensure that we are one step ahead of them when the battle for mobilization comes. It is a battle and a race, and it is the only thing that can allow us to stand up to them, given the disparities in population.
Rui fell into thought as he pondered the matter.
It was indeed true that in war, mobilization was a race that could often prove to be decisive. Both sides had powerful warriors and powerful technology and weaponry, bestial aircraft, or siege weapons. However, these resources took time to activate and position in a way that would make them useful.
Whether it was gathering all their beasts and monsters and having them charge towards the clans who were a part of the Harmonist Faction, or whether it was to organize all therianthropes and get them to attack enemy therianthropes. Or whether it was to repurpose infrastructure, redirect resources, or population management, all of these matters took time.
The Harmonist faction was only a third as large and powerful as the War Coalition, if they did not utilize a mobilization advantage, they would be definitely wiped out, even with the addition of Amare who, as powerful as she was, was simply not enough to deal with so many enemies.
However, if the Harmonist Faction got five days to discreetly mobilize as much as they could without the others noticing, then they could start the operation with an immense advantage and be able to mobilize much greater power and pose a much greater impediment to their enemies.
“It cannot be longer than five days, because then the mobilization is virtually impossible to hide. Kiriket has the most powerful surveillance apparatus out of all continents in the world, and we have spy networks in each other’s ranks. Intelligence cannot possibly remain hidden for more than five days, even with our utmost efforts. But five days of the most discreet manipulation is enough to give us the edge that we need to hold off the War Coalition and the Ryu Clan,” Lord Vakratunda remarked as his trunk twirled. “Once that is ready, we can commence the operation right away.”
Rui could sense that he was being sincere, which made him willing to trust the man. It appeared that, so far, the secret of the mind sense of the Martial Mind was still a secret. It was only the highest echelons of human civilization that made it much easier to hide than Martial Transcendence, which human civilization was desperately covering up from the rest of the world.
“I am willing to go any time,” Rui declared. “We can begin immediately or later. It does not make any difference to me.”
“Do not be so excessively hasty, Sage Rui,” Lord Vakratunda raised his hand. “I just established a timeline, that’s all. Since you are so eager to fight the Dragon Emperor, could you please share your plan?”
“I plan to teleport to him, grab him, then teleport a great distance away,” Rui replied. “Then the battle will begin, and I will kill him as soon as possible.”
“If it were that easy, space-time technology would be killing leaders left and right,” Lord Vakratunda remarked. “His cave, which serves as his abode, is laced with space-time anchors. This makes it impossible for you to create a wormhole that could allow you to it through to him on the other end.”
Rui was aware of that, of course.
“On top of that, teleporting from here to the Ryu Clan will take a lot of energy,” the man remarked. “Wormholes are highly energy-intensive unless you have lots of exotic matter with negative energy that can pry open a hole through reality. This is the reason that we have yet to expand to interstellar space.”
“…What does this have to do with interstellar space expansion?” Amare’s eyes lit up with a hint of curiosity.
“Well, I would imagine that that is obvious, is it not?” Lord Vakratunda raised an eyebrow. “The universe is unimaginably vast. It is vast beyond vast. Even at our highest speeds, it would take centuries to reach even the closest star at about four-point-two light-years away. It’s such a vast distance away that even attempting interstellar travel is meaningless. Wormhole technology, which we developed about a hundred years ago, has the promise to allow us to cross vast distances almost instantaneously. However, the energy demand is very intense, so it is not yet viable.”
It was rather tangential, but the significance of what Lord Vakratunda had just said drew Rui’s attention to the topic. “So the race to space is also a race of wormhole technology.”
Lord Vakratunda nodded. “Each species and civilization is racing to develop more efficient wormhole creation technology or researching new ways to create exotic matter that can make opening wormholes easy. Whichever civilization succeeds the first will be the first civilization to enter interstellar space and reap virtually infinite resources and infinite energy.”
Rui couldn’t help but realize that the human civilization of the Panama Continent had the possibility of being the first civilization to win the race to interstellar space. The Panama Continent had the power of exotic matter, and once it gained its hand on conventional high technology of the true world, then it would be able to fuse the two of them into a much greater hybrid.
It means that Julian’s work could become the ultimate salvation of human civilization. A boon even more miraculous than anything Rui had ever contributed. It would unlock the entire galaxy and even the universe for human civilization.
It was likely one of the reasons that the true world was so desperate to get their hands on the exotic matter of the Panama Continent, for within the continent held the key to victory in the ultimate race to the heart of the universe.
