Chapter 3347: Farewell
Chapter 3347: Farewell
“I look forward to that day,” Rui acquiesced in a good-natured manner. “I suppose that brings us to an end to everything that you had sought from me, doesn’t it?”
“It does,” she affirmed. “Thank you for sharing with me the truth about Transcendence. I know that this is something that you would never have shared with outsiders under normal circumstances. I can understand why, as well. The threat factor of human civilization would be raised to extreme highs if the world learned about the Martial Transcendents. Especially that they are bound to eventually return to human civilization in time, giving humanity an absolute edge over the entire world and the opportunity to dominate it.”
Rui nodded. “That is why my father has implemented a complete information ban on Martial Transcendents with the help of the Beggar’s Sect, an intelligence organization. We have completely censored and sealed all information about it in fear of the true world learning about it. I hope…”
He gazed at her with a friendly expression.
“…that you will keep the matter of Martial Transcendents a secret.”
“You have my word in the name of Genora,” she promised. “I will not reveal any information regarding Martial Transcendents to the rest of the world. However, when it comes to the information relating to Transcendence more broadly…”
She shook her head.
“It’s too late for that, I’m afraid.”
Rui’s expression grew complicated.
The air grew tense.
“Your earlier display of Transcendent power.”
“Correct,” Mother Maeria nodded with a severe expression. “Even if momentarily, I achieved power in the realm of the gods. I infringed upon the fabric of reality itself with the might of my mind, sending ripples through causality itself. I’m afraid…”
Her elderly nature-green eyes sharpened.
“…that it has not gone unnoticed.”
Rui fell into deep thought as his pitch-black eyes grew hazy. “The powerhouses of the world that have reached the nominal limit of their paths will not have failed to notice. Your earlier display has likely alerted them to the existence of Transcendence. And even if they don’t have many clues. They will have gained enough to begin exploring it on their own.”
“Correct.” She nodded. “The likes of Suneater, the Dragon Emperor, God’s Hammer, and NOVA will have undoubtedly noticed and understood the implications of my momentary Transcendence, even if two of the four of those are slumbering at the moment. Their senses and instincts are too powerful, for they too have reached a great threshold within their paths.”
Rui’s eyes lit up at those names.
He knew of them from skimming some of the extensive data that the dark elves had passed on to human civilization, although he hadn’t had the time to conduct a deep dive into any of the powerhouses of human civilization.
“What about the dark elves?” Rui raised an eyebrow. “Do you intend to pass on your knowledge to them?”
“I do,” Mother Maeria remarked with a softening tone. “The dark elves are far ahead of the light elves when it comes to Oneness, as I’m sure you have experienced, having lived with them for five months. Additionally, we light elves owe them an apology for our recent transgression into their territory. Although…”
She fell into thought. “I’m no longer able to contact them inconspicuously since they have permanently severed all connections not in their control between West and East Genora, so…”
She raised her hand, causing a thin sheet of paper to emerge from the wood in her body.
It had words of the elven dialect inscribed on it.
She folded it before giving it to Rui.
“Please give this letter to Mother Vyia on the dark elven side. She is the second Mother of Nature to have emerged in elven civilization and is nominally the highest leader among the dark elves. You needn’t worry about her reacting irrationally like some of our little sisters might. We have a deep understanding and bond with each other that cannot be fissured even if our civilizations have fissured.”
“Alright,” Rui accepted the letter. “I’ll be sure to deliver it to her as soon as I get back. I guess…”
He smiled at her.
“This brings us to an end to our time together.”
His tone contained a hint of regret.
He enjoyed Mother Maeria’s presence.
It reminded him of his own grandmother, if she were a little less grumbly and more pleasant.
“It has been a pleasure and honor to know you, Prince Rui,” Mother Maeria smiled at him good-naturedly. “I am indebted to you for your knowledge and for helping me find a path to Transcendence. I am grateful to you for helping me achieve Enlightenment of Oneness, and I am grateful to you for offering me kinship regarding the Fear. I look forward to working with you in the future to find a solution to the source of this Fear, but until then…”
Her gentle smile deepened.
“…I’m afraid our paths will have to diverge.”
Rui smiled back.
“It was fun, Grandma. Thank you for saving my life. I’m indebted to you forever. As for getting back…”
He scratched his head. “How am I supposed to do that? I can’t teleport long distances without Gigabrain, and it’s probably impossible even for you to hide me outside your body and outside your domain, no?”
“I have contacted Mother Alicia on the dark elven side, giving her your exact coordinates,” Mother Maeria replied. “She has relayed the data to other Mothers of Nature on standby who specialize in space-time biotechnology. They are preparing to teleport you at any moment, so do not move from that spot. I will do everything in my power to hide the space-time fluctuations so that the light elves are none the wiser.”
RUMBLE…
Rui felt the very fabric of space and time that he occupied intrinsically warping by an external source over the span of several minutes.
“I guess this is it.” He gazed at Mother Maeria with a sad smile. “Until next time, Grandma Maeria.”
She smiled at him with a hint of affection.
“Goodbye, Rui Quarrier.”
WHOOSH
And just like that, he was gone.
