Chapter 3324: Limited Flora Affinity

Chapter 3324: Limited Flora Affinity

Mother Alicia stared at the Emperor of Harmony with a peculiar gaze. She didn’t understand what the Emperor was getting at by asking these strange questions. And yet, despite the absurdity of his questions, he seemed to be especially serious about the matter.

“…Given that the only continuous source of energy from life in this world comes from the Sun, I suppose alien flora is indeed a plausible and perhaps even likely lifeform among the possible outcomes,” she replied. “However, it may take on an entirely unrecognizable form, one that wouldn’t be recognized as flora. There is no need for alien flora to necessarily look exactly like the flora on our planet.”

“Interesting, I find myself agreeing with your analysis, Mother Alicia,” Emperor Rael replied. “And what about you elves? Do you think you’d be able to manipulate alien nature and alien flora?”

“Almost certainly not,” Mother Alicia replied pretty quickly. “Although we elves say that we have an affinity to nature, it is undoubtedly an affinity for Gaian nature. We have an affinity for a part of the Tree of Life in Gaia, the Plant Kingdom. We can’t claim to have an affinity for all alien flora-like lifeforms that may or may not exist out there because we are evolved to have an affinity for an extremely specific kind of biochemistry that may not form the basis of life elsewhere in the Universe. That is why the Space Race is especially challenging to us elves.”

Space did not have the kind of nature that Gaia had at all, let alone in abundance. And elves needed nature in abundance to thrive, else they would be unable to engage in any substantial operation in outer space.

“Because our power is localized to a planet and to one continent on the planet, much of our challenge lies in retaining the power of nature even once we leave our home and transferring that to other planets that we will eventually try to colonize in the future,” she explained. “We don’t believe that we will be able to manipulate any alien nature that we may run into in the future.”

“That is indeed quite the dilemma,” Emperor Rael remarked. “Why don’t we put it to the test?”

Mother Alicia tilted her head with confusion. “Excuse me?”

Emperor Rael simply smiled as he got up, gesturing for the vessel of the Mother of Nature to come along with him.

“There is something that I would like to show you,” Emperor Rael remarked. “Please join me. What I am about to show you is something that we have yet to divulge to anybody from the true world, so please understand the importance and significance of what it is that I’m about to show you.”

Mother Alicia could feel the importance and the significance of what he intended to show her from just the tone of his voice.

She simply followed him, walking beside the Emperor even as her Martial Sage bodyguards and Sage Sayfeel kept a close eye on her, ensuring that she didn’t try anything funny at close proximity with the Emperor of Harmony.

The Emperor of Harmony eventually took her in a flying carriage that flew across the Kandrian Empire to the Kandrian Manifold, where the alien flora lifeform was kept.

Emperor Rael didn’t lightly choose to show Mother Alicia what she was about to see.

He knew how important the flora species was to the prosperity of not just the Kandrian Empire, but also all of human civilization. It was not an exaggeration to say that this was the single most valuable treasure that they had in their possession.

He had initially intended to show them this, but had chosen to do so after carefully studying how the dark elves had conducted themselves in the past six months that he had known them, and how they had chosen to act when Rui got kidnapped by the light elves.

Emperor Rael considered Rui’s kidnapping a test of sorts.

To test how loyal and sincere the dark elves were.

It was easy to pretend to be all earnest and genuine, especially to a newcomer to the world who was woefully lacking in experience and knowledge of true world matters. What Emperor Rael needed was some solid proof, after all, that they could not just talk the talk but also walk the walk.

He was largely satisfied by the dark elven response to Rui’s kidnapping.

What he approved of the most was that they acknowledged what had happened without downplaying or distorting the details, and transparently took responsibility and blame for what had happened.

They even tried taking several measures that they were still taking, like their cyber attack, in an attempt to stall the light elves and later also locate the missing Rui.

Then, they had publicly denounced the light elves as sisters and severed the bond between them as a partly joint civilization, and had suspended all free-border and free-trade agreements between dark and light elves. They had already begun sealing off the access points between light and dark elven civilization in territory and in the flora network.

These were undoubtedly very painful and even traumatic things for sisters civilizations, who had been hand-in-hand about everything, to do, but they had earned the trust of the Emperor of Harmony.

The dark elves were truly sincere about their alliance with human civilization, in which case, he didn’t mind revealing some sensitive information to get a powerful bargaining chance.

“Wow…” Mother Alicia murmured as she gazed out of the window of the flying carriage, gazing at the urban landscape of the Kandrian Empire. “Human civilization is truly devoid of nature.”

Her sapphire eyes sparkled with a hint of curiosity and fascination as she studied the cityscape in the increasingly modernizing Kandrian Empire that had expanded its vast urban territories with each passing year as its population grew.

Emperor Rael’s golden eyes onced-over the elf before him as he studied her dark skin, her long ears, and her sapphire eyes. His eyebrows rose as he studied the organic, vine-woven, organic fabric that covered her body from head to toe with a hint of curiosity as an intriguing thought entered his mind.
