Chapter 1799: Distinguished crowd
Chapter 1799: Distinguished crowd
“Suera galaxy?” Lex repeated, momentarily stunned. He didn’t know why he was surprised. It was a whole galaxy. Each and every galaxy was filled with tremendous treasures, and finding them was the hardest part of acquiring them simply because of the vast space each galaxy took up.
Finding out that there might be something in Suera that might help him should have been no big surprise. Except, Suera was unlike any other normal galaxy. That mysterious man… no, that mysterious being who had just shown up inside the Midnight Inn one day, inside his room, fully aware about his system, and systems in general, had told him to go to Suera. He had told Lex that in that galaxy, Lex would find something extremely beneficial to him.
He was not wrong, and in many ways, so many of Lex’s successes could be attributed to his decision to go there.
It was there that Lex had encountered Pelvailin, and retrieved his body. From him, Lex had begun to absorb his Dragons Might, and it was also there that a bounty had been placed on him. The bounty was an entire planet, if Lex remembered correctly.
The average price for a 1 star planet, depending on its production, was anywhere between 1000 and 5000 MT, so that was a huge price.
It was that added pressure, not to mention the availability of his new cultivation mat, that boosted Lex’s cultivation and brought him to where he was right now. Lex couldn’t say for certain whether or not he would have survived everything without Domination backing him up at every turn. Maybe he would have found another solution without it, maybe he wouldn’t have.
Either way, at least as things stood now, he had directly grown immensely stronger as a result of it. This was also ignoring the fact that he used the missile equal to Heaven Immortal realm attacks to go and rescue everyone from the Midnight Inn during the time Ra secretly attacked everyone.
So much had happened, and it all began in Suera. Though, technically, since he already got the item that the mystery being told him about, it should not be special anymore. Still, it seemed he was extra sensitive to that place.
“I appreciate the help,” Lex said to Jimmy. The little boy was growing up so fast. “I’ll ask you about it once the auction is over. I’ll accompany you Peacock Warriors and show you what a real mount is like.”
“There’s no point in acting all mysterious, everyone knows your mount is Fenrir,” Jimmy said dismissively, but Lex only smirked. While it was true that Fenrir was a good mount, how cool would it be if he came in riding Little Blue?
“It looks like we have a distinguished crowd today,” Mary’s voice echoed through the hall as she walked out on stage, no longer dressed in the suit she wore the other day. Nor did she wear an elegant and enthralling dress like on her first appearance. Instead… she was in a white, bunny onesie.
Lex resisted the urge to facepalm. It was easy, since he’d mentally prepared himself already, considering he had seen her before she revealed herself.
The rest of the Inn, though, was stunned into stillness. Well, at least the ones watching the auction.
Mary was… well she was Mary. Lex had once asked her why she dressed up in different costumes, and she answered that it was because she wanted to. She truly lived according to her own whims. Couldn’t ask for less from a former Dao Lord.
“So many big names… I hope our humble little auction will satisfy you. Let us begin with the Weed of Eternal Damnation. The origin of this item, like many others in our auction today, will not be revealed. Those who need to know can ascertain the answer themselves, and those who cannot do not need to know. Either way, unlike with the chameleon corpse in our previous auction, there is no troublesome background to deal with for any of the items we auction with a hidden origin. The use of these items, though, I will explain to you.”
Naturally, Mary would not tell anyone about Abaddon. It wasn’t as if it was the biggest secret in the universe, but its origins were clearly complicated, and revealing that they had been there might attract the wrong kind of attention. But at the same time, it wasn’t worth hiding either.
It was like an open secret for those capable enough to ferret out the true origins of the items they were auctioning.
“The Weed of Eternal Damnation, despite its name, is an extremely tenacious weed that can survive in the harshest of conditions. In the presence or absence of energy, in purity or in chaos, in heaven or in hell, the weed will survive. While it has no express benefits, it can be used as a very potent ingredient in alchemy to create all kinds of pills. We will begin the auction at the price of 10,000 MT.”
Mary paused for a moment, as if she suddenly had an idea and was contemplating it.
“You know what, before we begin the auction, I’d like a volunteer to help me out with something. If anyone wants to volunteer, drop a message in chat.”
ADeepConundrum: Me! Me! Pick me!
PistachioIcecream: I volunteer as tribute!
AvaDarling: It would be my honor to aid you…
“Alright, how about you,” Mary said as she made a plucking action. In truth she did nothing save asking Lex to teleport a random Celestial Immortal to her.
An unusual being, as if a bear the size of a koala grew the wings of an eagle, appeared right in front of Mary. Despite the cute size, none who looked at him thought he was cute, for he was a Grizzly Banshee at the Celestial level. As it happened, he was an ally of the A.I. and had accompanied them to this auction.
The Grizzly Banshee was wearing Clark Kent glasses so there was no danger of his identity being revealed. Even so, she did not mention his user name when she plucked him up – not that she knew it to begin with. Lex had sent him there.
“Thank you for volunteering, my cute little friend,” Mary said, saying the thing no other dared to say.
“It is my privilege,” the Grizzly Banshee said with utmost seriousness, not at all embarrassed about being called cute.
“Good. Now do your best to destroy this little weed here. We need to let the guests watching judge for themselves just how tenacious this damnable thing really is.”
The Grizzly Banshee did not at all question Mary, and attacked. It unleashed Tether, the law out of the eight ruling laws of the universe that he controlled. Tether was the law of connection. Anything and everything that had any kind of connection operated underneath this law. Any connection between two concepts, two forces, two energies, or literally anything in creation, depended entirely on Tether. It was the binding force of the universe, and without it, no other law could function.
Everything answered to it. The weed was just a weed, and it had nothing to do with tenacity, or eternity, or damnation. They were just concepts connected to the weed for some reason, so he would use Tether to…
His attack was like he threw a marble at a jumping castle – it bounced right out without leaving any lasting impact at all.
The Grizzly Banshee was stunned. The audience was stunned. Everyone who saw what had happened was stunned. Only those from the Inn treated it like nothing.
What was a mere Celestial Immortal in front of the wrath of Abaddon? If the weed could survive there, why couldn’t it survive a Celestial attack?
The reason they were selling it, instead of using it, was simple. It had no real use! Eating it could not grant any of its benefits, not to mention the weed itself could survive being eaten, and wouldn’t be digested. It could theoretically be used to concoct pills, but first someone would have to overcome the damn weeds’ own tenacity before it could be used as an ingredient.
In essence, no one at the Inn could make use of it, so they were auctioning it off. Even the Sovereign turtle merely looked at it and dismissed it. The plant offered no benefit to his garden other than to exist.
The Grizzly Banshee attacked again, this time even more furious, but it was no use. The weed grew in eternal damnation – it could not be so easily destroyed.
“Thank you, my cute little friend, for making my point. You can return to your room now. Like I said earlier, the auction will begin at 10,000 MT, and the lowest bid can only be 100 MT. Let’s begin!”
The price for the weed skyrocketed. Everyone wanted it. A thing like this had never been seen before, even by the ‘distinguished crowd’ that had appeared at the Inn.
