The Evil Bastard of Murim

Chapter 41 - 40: Arrival at Mount Hua (15)

“But you’ll need to compensate me.”

“...”

“Pardon? C-Compensate?”

Seeing the bandits’ and Cho Heon’s surprised faces, Wolryung raised one of his eyebrows as he chuckled.

“You don’t know what compensation means?” And in the next instant he clicked his tongue as annoyance spread through his face. “Tsk! That’s why one shouldn’t live their life on a mountain. You don’t even know the meaning of a simple word. How are you guys going to survive in this harsh world?”

“...”

Cho Heon was speechless upon hearing those words. This bastard was spouting bullshit as he pleased. Why would someone need to know the meaning of a useless word like ‘compensation’ to survive? No, forget about that for now. Who in their right mind would think that someone doesn’t even know the meaning of that word? Even a kid could tell what it meant.

‘Argh! I wish I could at least land a punch on this bastard’s face.’

But since that monster of a kid, Jin Ho or whatever his name was, was beside him, Cho Heon couldn’t do anything but suppress his anger with a forced smile.

“Uh... That’s not what I meant, young warrior. We were just surprised because we didn’t know for what reason we needed to compensate you?”

“Hmm...”

Wolryung stared at Cho Heon’s face for a moment before opening his mouth again.

“Are you guys dumb or something?”

“Pardon?”

All the bandits tilted their heads in confusion.

“Look here...” Wolryung leaned back on his chair a bit. “...Didn’t I already mention the reasons earlier?”

“Um? You did?”

“...!”

A throbbing vein appeared on Wolryung’s temple. These dumbasses were really testing his patience. What was there to not understand? Wolryung only discussed one matter with them till now. So it was obvious what reason he was talking about. But even so, these uneducated bastards were acting like they didn’t know.

Wolryung started talking again with a smile. But his face clearly showed he was getting frustrated.

“What topic did we talk about earlier?”

“Sorry? What topic?”

“...?!”

Wolryung’s face contorted in irritation.

Look at this bastard. He is doing this on purpose, isn’t he? Cho Heon’s face was clearly screaming that he already understood what Wolryung was talking about but he was still acting like he didn’t know anything.

Wolryung turned his head toward Jin Ho.

“Jin Ho.”

“Yes, young master?” Jin Ho answered in a light tone, looking at Wolryung.

“You know what you need to do, right? Make sure they understand what I am talking about.”

“As you wish, young master.” In an instant the air around Jin Ho became cold as he started unsheathing his sword, stepping forward slowly. “I’ll make sure every bone in their body understands things without even needing to tell them a single word.”

“Hickkk!”

Thud!

All the bandits slammed their heads against the ground. Their loud voices echoing through the shabby hut.

“We understand what you meant, young warrior! Please spare us!”

“...”

Tsk! People only learn things when faced with the hard path.

“Sigh...”

‘It’s already too late. I can’t waste time like this when I have so many things to do.’

If he remembers correctly, there is very little time till the tragedy of the Dark Heaven Sword Clan starts. And there is also that Mount Hua incident at the exchange tournament in which the author of the novel didn’t even bother to explain what happened in detail. He just mentioned that the Mount Hua Sect faced an overwhelming defeat which caused every disciples’ morale to collapse. And that’s all. No information what and how things happened, in what conditions the disciples were. Everything was just shadowed. And then came the tragedy of the Dark Heaven Sword Clan, where all the members died except for Ma Jin Ho.

‘Well, it can’t be said that everyone died except for him. After all, Jin Ho himself severed the head of the last survivor with his own hands.’

If Wolryung wanted to stop all of those things he needed to arrive at the Mount Hua Sect and the Dark Heaven Sword Clan in time. However, with the incident in the Western Sichuan, he already wasted a month. And another 15 days had passed since they started traveling. At this rate will he even be able to stop all those things?

Wolryung truly couldn’t waste time like this playing on a mountain with some bandits.

Wolryung let out another deep sigh as he called out to Jin Ho.

“Stop, Jin Ho. Let us give them one last chance.”

“...”

Jin Ho, confused a bit, looked at Wolryung with a blank face. After a moment he stopped his cold aura as he sheathed his sword. Then he retreated with an understanding face and stood right beside Wolryung again.

Wolryung glanced at the bandits again.

“So, now you know what I was talking about?”

“Well...” Cho Heon replied cautiously. “...we know but...”

“But what?”

“Ah... It’s just... W-We did attack your team and cause you some trouble. But...”

“...”

“...Y-You know... You guys already beat us to a pulp for that. So... I was thinking... it’s only us who faced the loss and...”

“This bastard!”

Not able to take it anymore, Wolryung rose up from his seat and kicked Cho Heon on his stomach.

Thwack!

“Keuk!”

The force sent Cho Heon rolling backward three times across the ground until he crashed into another bandit.

Thud!

“Argh!”

The other bandit, lying on the ground, groaned and clutched his head. While, on the other hand, Cho Heon clutched his stomach as he felt a sharp pain growing inside.

“Kwack!”

“You think I was asking for compensation without any reason?”

Wolryung looked really pissed now. His thunderous voice echoed through the shabby hut. Even the chubby boy, Baek Musan and the Escort Members, who were outside could hear his voice.

“You damn bastards, do I need to spill everything myself for you?!”

Cho Heon, who was on the ground, felt it was a bit unfair. After all, what he said was true. Even though the bandits were the one to attack Wolryung’s party first, they couldn’t do anything against them and got beat up instead. And now this bastard was demanding compensation. Why was the world like this?

Cho Heon’s eyes glistened, as if tears might spill at any moment.

“You think the only thing you guys did wrong was attacking us?!”

“...”

All the bandits looked puzzled at those words. Even Cho Heon and the bandit beside him, forgetting their pain, gave Wolryung confused gazes.

‘Was there really another reason?’

No matter how they thought about it, they really couldn’t find another reason beside the fact that they just attacked them. And there was nothing else. Then what could be the other reason?

Now they were really curious about what bullshit this bastard was about to spout.

Even Jin Ho, who couldn’t think of any other reason, curiously looked at Wolryung from behind.

‘What excuse is the Young Master going to give?’
