Chapter 2300: I will kill them
Chapter 2300: I will kill them
Coldness and killing intent flared in Skull Lord’s eyes as he saw the Neo-Angel begin to retreat. There was no way he would be content with the enemy living like that, especially after an ambush that almost ended in severe wounds.
The charging power of his war horse surged explosively, its momentum multiplying as Skull Lord launched one final assault with slashing force capable of piercing reality itself. Space trembled beneath the hooves of the beast, cracks spreading through the sky like fractures in glass.
Yet even while being driven back, the Neo-Angel did not collapse. Gritting his teeth, he unleashed layers of defensive power, sacrificing position to gain time. Each clash rang like a collapsing star, but slowly, steadily, the Neo-Angel achieved his goal.
One by one, the ArchDeities of the Freedom Path disengaged and fled the battlefield, tearing open escape routes through space and vanishing into the distance, far from the battlefield.
Only once his subordinates had safely withdrawn did the Neo-Angel retreat himself. With a final glare filled with rage and resentment directed toward the Scarlet King, he seized the damaged Prototype and vanished in a violent distortion of space.
Skull Lord remained motionless for several seconds, the brutal aura around him continuing to swell, threatening to erupt into unrestrained slaughter.
However, he was a True Depravita. Gradually, control returned to his soul. His breathing steadied. The raging power receded as he deactivated his Redemption Incarnation. The massive war horse dissolved into motes of violet light, and the overwhelming energy surrounding his body faded like embers after a storm.
Without wasting a moment, Skull Lord turned his gaze toward the battlefield below and spoke in a commanding voice that brooked no defiance.
"Return to your domains. Reinforce your defenses. Heal the wounded."
The remaining ArchDeities hesitated only briefly. Many of them cast cautious, curious glances toward the Scarlet King, silently wondering who this crimson-winged figure was.
Someone capable of intervening in a battle between Alpha-Omega Overgods was definitely not ordinary.
Yet Skull Lord’s authority was absolute. They bowed deeply, then departed without another word.
In the span of seconds, the battlefield fell silent.
Only four figures remained.
Skull Lord, Cain, Meylin, and the Enlightened One.
The True Depravita turned toward the trio and clasped his hands together before bowing deeply, genuine gratitude evident in his posture.
"You have my thanks," Skull Lord said solemnly. "The Prototype caught me by surprise. Had you not intervened, the consequences could have been severe."
Cain returned the bow with a faint smile, while Meylin and the Enlightened One followed suit. Such humility from someone of Skull Lord’s standing was rare. Those who reached such heights often forgot courtesy entirely, especially toward those of lower cultivation. The gesture left a very good impression on the trio.
After straightening, Skull Lord’s gaze lingered briefly on Meylin before settling on Cain.
"Zarazel informed me that you would arrive," he said. "But this was far sooner than expected. How did you cross into the Fourth Realm so quickly? Is there a portal I am unaware of?"
Cain did not find the question strange. An uncontrolled passage between realms could be exploited by the Freedom Path, allowing massive waves of reincarnation to reach from the other realms, potentially destabilizing the entire Fourth Realm.
"I used the Power of Chaos," Cain replied calmly. "I locate soft points between realm barriers and navigate through them directly."
Skull Lord froze.
Shock flashed across his features, quickly followed by disbelief and awe.
"The Power of Chaos?" he repeated. "The same force Adam once wielded to help my Master evolve? You can wield that strength!?"
Cain raised an eyebrow, mildly surprised. Zarazel had shown no strong reaction when Cain used Chaos, recognizing its power but not its deeper significance.
Skull Lord, however, clearly understood its history and implications, which could mean he was much closer to the Demon King than the True Depravita of Fear.
"Yes," Cain said, nodding. "That same power."
The awe in Skull Lord’s eyes deepened. To him, Chaos was not merely strength—it was the catalyst that had allowed the Demon King to overcome his own nature and ascend as a Primal True Depravita. Few beings in existence could even comprehend such power, let alone wield it.
After several seconds, Skull Lord exhaled slowly and regained his composure.
"My Master has received your message," he said. "Not only has he agreed to meet you—he is eager to do so. There are important matters he wishes to discuss with you face to face."
Cain’s eyes lit up.
"You will need to reach the Fifth Realm within six months," Skull Lord continued. "He will find you there."
A wide smile spread across Cain’s face. Meeting the Demon King had been one of his primary objectives, and while six months was a long wait, he would not dare complain. Leading a war across realms left no room for leisure.
"I understand," Cain said. "I will be there."
A brief silence followed. Then Cain’s expression sharpened, a dangerous glint flashing in his scarlet eyes.
"What about our objective in the Fourth Realm?"
A complicated light flickered across Skull Lord’s gaze.
"Before I answer," he said carefully, "tell me your purpose regarding the Three Moons."
Cain hesitated.
Skull Lord was stronger than him—far stronger—and the unquestioned leader of the Life Path in the Fourth Realm. If he opposed Cain, reaching the Three Moons would become nearly impossible.
"They interfered with my destiny," Cain said at last. "They uttered prophecies involving me. The most recent one placed me directly in the Ancient One’s sights. I want to know why."
Skull Lord studied Cain closely, his expression unreadable.
"And if you dislike their answer?" he asked.
"I will kill them."
The words were spoken without hesitation, without doubt. Cain’s voice was calm, resolute, and absolute. Those who meddled with his destiny crossed a line he would not tolerate.
Then, after a pause, Cain continued.
"Of course, I will wait until the war with the Ancient One is over before acting. That much, I promise."
