Chapter 1610: Aura of Beauty and Rage
Chapter 1610: Aura of Beauty and Rage
“Is that a devil?!” Obelisk said in a calm, passive voice, and Agnar opened his jaws, dropping the dead devil down. He then started walking toward them and shifted into his humanoid form. All of his wounds were healed, and even his clothes were fixed.
“And it’s dead. But I almost died.” He glared back at the devil’s corpse. “This bastard could see thoughts or something; he saw Yuwaku and got blinded.”
Obelisk’s eyes opened wide, his face finally showing some emotions. “Wait, saw her in your memories and got blinded? That’s impossible!”
Agnar sheathed his sword, walking away from the devil’s corpse. “Of course. Is there a problem with that?”
Obelisk couldn’t believe any of Agnar’s words; that claim was far too big for a kid to make. Even Gojo found it hard to look directly at a Nymph; he couldn’t even remember their figure afterward. He said that it’s too much information for any brain to store in memory, so technically, everyone, even Arad and Gojo, their brains compresses the Nymph image into a harmless silhouette.
“He did see me!” Yuwaku said with a smile as she clapped her hands. “He is amazing, isn’t he?”
Obelisk grabbed her by the vest’s collar. “You showed him?! Do you know how dangerous that is? And he is a kid!”
“No, I didn’t show him the first time. He took a peek through the room’s keyhole. He heard that Nymphs are unrivaled beauties, so he tried to see what all the hype was about.” As she shook her hands, Obelisk let her go.
“Yeah, of course you won’t show him the first time…” Her eyes suddenly opened even wider, and she grabbed Yuwaku once more. “Hold up! You said the first time?!”
“Hey! Yuwaku, stop it!” Agnar cried in the back, and Yuwaku laughed. “Sorry, sorry, there was just that time. He definitely didn’t see me several times afterward.” She pushed Obelisk away and ran toward Agnar, hiding behind him.
“You!!!” Obelisk growled, but quickly calmed herself down. “We’ll deal with you later. For now, we need to finish this mission first.”
Yuwaku nodded with a grin.
“Of course, we should go. I mean, they are already here to greet us.” She looked aside, and only then did Obelisk feel their presence. She turned as fast as she could, and her arms turned into long black tentacles.
“Devils!” Obelisk growled, and Yuwaku looked at her with a grin. “Do they look like anything else?”
Twenty devils surrounded them, all looking red, angry, and boiling with countless curses. There weren’t any devils, half of them were archdevils, and the others were pit fiends, the strongest of the strongest devils from hell. What was more worrisome was that all of them wore blindfolds so they wouldn’t see Yuwaku and get blinded.
“Poor Timmy, we gave him scouting missions so he won’t get killed by some random humans. To think a Nymph would kill him.” One of them growled, even with the blindfold, his face was pointing directly at Yuwaku.
Then, something strange happened. The devil could only see darkness with his eyes closed; he relied on his other senses to know where Yuwaku and the rest were. But at the edge of his darkened vision, he spotted a huge dark silhouette standing there. When he moved his head to look, the silhouette disappeared.
“A devil, you say?!” Agnar stepped in front of Yuwaku and pulled his sword out. “I thought he was just an imp.” He pointed his swords at the devils. “Twenty against four, as underhanded as devils get.”
All of the devils frowned, and some of them almost jumped to attack. “Shut up, human brat. Timmy died at the hands of a Nymph. Those were his words.” The devils pulled their spears and swords, ready to kill the intruders.
Obelisk stepped forward, walking past Agnar to challenge the devils on her own. “You go back. I’ll deal with them.”
Two or three devils wouldn’t be a problem, but twenty, it was too much. Obelisk can at best kill four, five if she was lucky, and she knows for certain Yuwaku and her group can’t even kill one.
But before she could get too far, Yuwaku grabbed her by the head. “Back you go.” At that moment, a wave of darkness rushed out from beneath Yuwaku’s feet and swallowed Obelisk, then Agnar and Ignis before they could even speak.
The devils glared at her. “Their magic disappeared. So you sent them away. A wise decision. The kid was too weak.”
Yuwaku looked at the devils with a smile. “Weak? He wasn’t joking; he is the one who killed your Timmy.”
The devils burst laughing. “Do you take us for fools? We know what kind of monster you are, and that slimy little girl was a problem as well. We’re glad you sent her away.”
“Obee is strong, but she’ll get in my way. As sad as it makes me, Agnar and Ignis would too get in the way.” She lifted one hand and closed her eyes, looking at the devils with a gentle smile. “I’ll punch you.”
The devils couldn’t see her, but they could tell where she was and what her stance was just from her aura; the residual magic that her body naturally releases over time. It worked in a similar way to thermal cameras, but with mana instead of heat.
But then, one of the devils caught a glimpse of a strange dark silhouette. The same one the other devil saw before. A three-meter-tall figure, probably a man, standing just at the edge of their vision. When the devil tried to look, the figure disappeared.
The next thing the devil knew was the feeling of a fist hitting his face, crushing his nose and upper jaw to the ground. As the devil’s skull hit the ground, the snow exploded into vapor, and the earth beneath them shattered into rubble. The devil’s body straightened as a board, and his head turned into mush, snuffing his curse before it could even start.
The other devils got blasted away a few meters, and when they stopped, they saw Yuwaku standing with the same gentle smile on her face, as if she didn’t just punch an archdevil into the ground like a nail.
The devils could spot a glance of the dark silhouette once more, which only appears for a fraction of a second and then vanishes into nothing.
Yuwaku’s physical strength was already as oppressive as Arad’s, because Arad’s oppressive part was a crucial part of his charm. She had never used this much strength because she never needed it; most monsters could be killed with far less effort, and causing such shockwaves might harm Ignis and Agnar, so she had kept herself in check.
But now, she didn’t need to hold back, and she also wanted to test the new powers surging in her body now that Arad had disappeared. She lifted her foot, and the devils got ready to block her attack.
But Yuwaku never put her foot down in front of them; instead, she disappeared into pure darkness and landed behind them. She, too, could use Void Step to teleport.
The devils turned around, and one of them even swung his trident at her face, aiming to kill her with a single hit. Nymphs are dangerous, but they have a glaring weakness. Their pristine beauty, if it got tarnished, the Nymph would die.
All the devils needed was one hit to mess Yuwaku’s face, scuff her skin, or ruin her hair; that alone would be enough to weaken her a lot, if not kill her.
As the devil’s trident flew at Yuwaku’s face, time seemed to slow for a bit, and the devil smiled. From what he could see, Yuwaku had no chance of dodging his attack, and even if she did, he would cut her hair, which should weaken her enough.
But then, he felt cold, the fine hair on his body stood, and his blood ran dry. Something horrible was standing behind him, glaring down at him with radiant purple eyes. The pressure was so immense that the devil’s fear forced him to halt the attack and swing at whatever he sensed behind him.
The devil’s trident passed through the thin air, hitting nothing. But his eyes could catch a glimpse of it once more, the dark silhouette. Something is out there to get them.
Before he could finish his thoughts, though, Yuwaku’s fist hit him on the back of the head, crushing his face to the ground like she had done to the first devil.
Another devil fell, and they couldn’t land a single hit on her.
As Yuwaku stood and shook the blood from her fist. She spoke with a grin. “He’s angry, he’s angry.”
“Who?” One of the devils asked, figuring out she must be talking about the dark silhouette they saw.
“Who else? My dad.”
Far away, Arad was watching the fight through Yuwaku’s eyes, enraged that some devils were there attacking his daughter. That rage transferred through him to Yuwaku and appeared clearly in her aura, since she is a reflection of his beauty.
The devils who observed Yuwaku through their magical senses to avoid her deadly beauty found themselves glaring right back at Arad’s angry face.
