The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 1273 - 1213: Father-Daughter Alone Time

Adrian drove very slowly, and by the time he returned to the Johnson Family’s home, it was already quite dark.

Along the way, the bright lights and family reunions everywhere only highlighted his extreme loneliness; Adrian’s mood remained heavy.

The car slowly came to a stop at the entrance of the Johnson Family’s house, when suddenly a little figure dashed out, running towards his car.

"Daddy..."

"Curly, that’s dangerous!" Kiki shouted loudly.

Under the car lights, a small girl suddenly appeared, Adrian recognized her as Curly, and he quickly slammed the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden stop.

Adrian broke into a cold sweat from the scare; fortunately, he was driving slowly, otherwise in his distracted state, he would have definitely hit her.

Kiki ran over and hugged Curly tightly.

"Curly, how could you run around like that? What if you got hit?" Kiki said with lingering fear.

"No, Daddy wouldn’t hit me."

Adrian got out of the car and saw Curly being held in Kiki’s arms, frowning.

Curly hadn’t seen her father in a long time, so she was especially happy to see him, and ran over to hug Adrian’s leg.

"Daddy!"

"It was very dangerous just now, do you understand? If I hadn’t braked in time, I would have hit you, do you understand?" Adrian reprimanded Curly.

Curly was continuously scolded by Adrian, and began to feel sad.

Her smile was replaced with grievance and sadness, she pouted, and her eyes reddened.

These days, her mother wasn’t home, and her father hadn’t come back either; Curly was more mature compared to the twins who adapted to life without a mother after a few days of fuss. She missed her mom and dad.

Curly suddenly burst into tears.

Kiki walked over and explained for Curly, "Sixth Master, Curly has been waiting for you for a long time, she hasn’t even had dinner. She insisted on waiting for you at the door after hearing you’d come back, no matter how much we tried to persuade her."

Adrian picked her up and wiped her tears, "Why are you crying? I didn’t even hit you."

Once Curly started crying, she couldn’t stop, no matter how much they tried to comfort her, tears fell like they were worthless.

"Did someone bully you?"

"..."

"Tell Daddy why you’re crying, okay?"

Curly just wanted to cry; she wasn’t crying because her father scolded her, she just wanted to take this opportunity to cry her heart out and vent her sadness.

"Ah..."

...

In the bedroom,

Curly cried for almost an hour before finally stopping. Adrian wiped the tears from her face as Curly continued to sob intermittently.

Adrian joked, "Like your mom, once you start crying, it never ends."

Curly felt a bit embarrassed, lowered her head, and said nothing.

"Kiki said you didn’t eat much dinner, so how about Daddy makes you some noodles?"

Curly especially loved braised noodles; Adrian remembered that at noon, his mother-in-law had made some sauce, so he could just boil some noodles and pour the sauce over them.

"No, your noodles don’t taste good."

Adrian flicked her smooth forehead lightly and laughed, "Your mom says people who can’t cook have no right to complain about others’ cooking."

"..."

"Besides, I make really good ones."

"My mom says braggers are the most annoying."

"Bragging? I’ll make a bowl of noodles, and you see if I’m bragging."

...

In the kitchen, Curly sat on Adrian’s shoulders, unwilling to be separated from him even for a moment.

Adrian was tall, and with Curly sitting on his shoulders, she felt like she could almost touch the ceiling.

"Curly, give me the blender."

"Okay."

Curly easily opened the cabinet above, found the blender, and handed it to Adrian.

"Thank you."

"Daddy, what else do you need?"

"Check if there is a heart-shaped mold."

Curly looked in the cabinet where the blender had been, but there was no heart-shaped mold there; Curly said to her father, "Daddy, move a little to the right. This cabinet doesn’t have it."

Adrian took a step to the right and asked, "Okay?"

"Mm." Curly opened the cabinet and rummaged around, quickly making a mess inside, finally finding a heart-shaped mold in the corner.

"Found it, Daddy."

"Hand it over."

"Daddy, what are you going to make?"

"Making braised noodles, with heart-shaped eggs."

Sienna would make them like this; although she was usually busy and rarely cooked, if she had time to do so, she would put a lot of thought into making the food delicious and beautiful.

Curly didn’t like carrots, so Sienna would make little stars out of them; the carrot star was yellow in the center, like yellow little stars, and red on the outside, like red stars, sprinkled over the dish, looking very pretty.

"Daddy, the oil is hot, time to add the scallions..."

Adrian skilfully added peppercorns, bean sprouts, ham, and stir-fried them, then finally added broth, poured in the steamed noodles which were about seventy to eighty percent cooked, and stir-fried them together.

When it was ready, Adrian placed a heart-shaped fried egg on top.

"It’s ready." Adrian held it up for Curly to smell and asked, "How about it, how’s the taste?"

"I haven’t eaten yet. How would I know what the taste is like? But it looks very delicious."

"Of course, it tastes good! It was taught by your mom, could it be bad?"

Curly: ...

Adrian carried a large plate of noodles and a bowl of yam chicken soup and walked out.

Curly sat on her father’s lap, the two of them shared a bowl of noodles, Curly kept praising them as yummy, but Adrian thought they weren’t as good as the ones Sienna made, missing something.

"Seems like I put too much soy sauce."

"I like more soy sauce. Mom is stingy, always reluctant to use oil, salt, or soy sauce..." Curly said while eating noodles.

Sienna just thought that too much oil and salt weren’t healthy, so she used them sparingly, rather than being stingy.

"Too much soy sauce isn’t good for your health."

"Who said so?"

"Mom said so."

Curly frowned slightly and said, "Daddy, stop always listening to my mom; have a little opinion of your own, alright?"

"..."

"Daddy, why aren’t you eating?"

"I’m eating." Adrian had no appetite, but seeing his daughter enjoying the food, he didn’t want to dampen the mood.

A big plate of noodles and a bowl of yam chicken soup were finished by the two of them together, Curly patted her stomach and said, "Daddy, will I get fat from eating so much?"

"Even if you get fat, someone will still marry you, so what’s there to be afraid of?"

Curly muttered, "But the person who marries me might not be someone I like?"

"Then what kind of person do you like?"

"Someone just like Daddy."

Adrian chuckled, "Daddy’s great?"

"Yeah, Daddy’s great. Handsome, wealthy, skilled in martial arts, cooks well, and doesn’t have a wandering heart..."

Curly counted Adrian’s virtues on her fingers; Adrian was very happy, he wasn’t Sienna’s ideal husband type, but he didn’t expect to become his daughter’s ideal husband model.

"The only thing not great is, you’re a second marriage... I don’t like second-hand goods."

Adrian: ...
