Chapter 1255 - 1195: One Man’s Poison, Another’s Peach
"Then your Madam will soon be found." Marion said.
"I hope so."
In truth, Adrian Desmond wasn’t sure at all.
The best plan is for Kiya to return and continue being his Sultan, then use the power in his hands to either capture Night Owl or drive Night Owl out of the Imperial Palace. With Night Owl lingering in the palace, there’s just no chance for him to act.
The palace has now become a protective shell for Night Owl.
As the car passed the Imperial Palace, Adrian Desmond had Marion stop it by the roadside for a moment. He gazed at the palace gates, now guarded by twice the number of guards than before, these guards were noticeably different, exuding an air of murder.
"Are those guards also from Death Island?"
Marion looked at those guards and replied, "I can’t be sure, but they don’t seem like ordinary people at all."
"You noticed it too?"
"Yes, Sixth Master."
Adrian Desmond lightly tapped his finger on his thigh, his gaze fixed on the palace, imagining that at this moment Sienna Johnson was somewhere inside, together with that man, Night Owl.
The more Adrian Desmond thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt. He said to Marion, "Drive."
Marion started the car and headed in the opposite direction of the palace, towards the Desmond Manor.
...
The sunset painted the sky a rosy hue, beautiful like a vividly colored oil painting.
"Do you like it?" Night Owl asked as he saw her gazing at the clouds in the sky.
Sienna Johnson remained silent.
A blue-winged butterfly landed on Sienna Johnson’s shoulder. Night Owl reached out to catch it, and Sienna Johnson noticed, shouting, "What are you doing?"
Night Owl gently pinched the butterfly’s wings and said to Sienna Johnson with deep affection, "In my heart, you are just like this butterfly."
Sienna Johnson replied indignantly, "Manipulated ruthlessly just like a butterfly in your grasp?"
Night Owl released the butterfly, and with fragile wings, it flew away, heading towards the garden full of flowers.
Night Owl said, "The more beautiful things are, the less you should force them to stay by your side. If they truly cherish you, they will naturally return."
"Are you planning to let me go?"
Night Owl smiled without replying. Instead, he picked a beautifully blooming rose from the garden and presented it to Sienna Johnson.
"I know you love lotuses, but there are no lotus flowers in the palace. I’ve already had them planted in the lake. When they bloom, I’ll take you to see them."
"You brought me here just to tell me this?"
Night Owl countered, "Then what do you think I brought you here for?"
Sienna Johnson evidently misunderstood, causing her to awkwardly lower her head. At this moment, Night Owl, being cheeky, secretly blew a breath into Sienna Johnson’s ear, earning a fierce glare from her.
Night Owl laughed, "You, indeed, are destined to follow a man like me in this lifetime..."
Sienna Johnson sneered, "What makes you so special?"
"I’m at least better than Adrian Desmond."
"One’s poison, another’s peach!"
"So am I your poison or your peach?" Night Owl asked.
"Poison!"
"Is Adrian Desmond your peach?"
"Yes."
Sienna Johnson walked into the garden and picked a rose, but its thorn pricked her finger, a bead of blood appeared on her fair fingertip. As she was about to wipe it away, Night Owl took her finger into his mouth.
His tongue lightly licked her finger, his gaze enticing her.
Sienna Johnson frowned and said dryly, "Actually saliva is quite dirty. A person’s mouth is full of various bacteria. If saliva touches a wound, bacteria can enter the wound."
"The New England Journal of Medicine once reported: A diabetic male from Mousden injured himself while biking and licked his bleeding thumb. Even though the wound was tiny, he infected it with Eikenella corrodens, ultimately resulting in the amputation of his thumb. Eikenella corrodens is a common oral bacterium, so it can be assumed that ’saliva’ cost him his thumb."
Night Owl paused, and Sienna Johnson withdrew her finger, turned around, got a medical kit, and disinfected her finger.
"I forgot, you’re a doctor."
Though such a small wound isn’t anything serious enough for concern, having Night Owl suck on it made Sienna Johnson uncomfortable.
"You’re unhappy?"
"..."
"What would make you happy?"
Sienna Johnson answered, "I miss my children."
"Then let’s have a child together?"
Sienna Johnson ignored this madman, tidied up the medical kit, got up, returned to her room, and locked the door from the inside.
Sienna Johnson felt suffocated by Night Owl and only moments like this brought her slight peace. Yet she dared not relax completely, unsure if there were hidden cameras in the room.
Already a week had passed, and Adrian Desmond still hadn’t come to her rescue.
The situation was downright awful.
At this moment, Sienna Johnson’s thoughts remained mostly with her twins, so young they hadn’t even weaned, she wondered how they were doing.
The thought of her children pained Sienna Johnson deeply.
She yearned to kill Night Owl but was clueless about how to make that happen and escape successfully herself.
...
Night Owl stared at the tightly closed door for a while, confirmed she wouldn’t come out, and then reluctantly left.
Approaching the doorway, Gulit said, "Master, Moore is ill."
"Hmm."
Seeing Night Owl remain indifferent, Gulit added, "It’s leukemia."
"What?"
"It’s been confirmed, Gulit is very upset and has been crying..."
"Moore cannot die!" This wasn’t because Night Owl particularly cared for Moore, but he needed Moore as a puppet.
Night Owl stood before the garden, picked up the rose Sienna Johnson left behind, pondered for a while, and said, "Find a child who looks similar to Moore, if Moore dies, use that child as a replacement."
"Yes."
Night Owl carried a bouquet of roses, went to Gulit’s quarters, and the maid greeted him. As he entered, he heard Gulit sobbing, with Moore crying along.
"Shut up!" Night Owl looked at Gulit, clearly annoyed.
Fearing Night Owl, Gulit immediately stopped crying, "Moore is sick, please save him, I beg you..."
"I’m not a doctor!"
"Then find the best doctor for Moore, you must save him." Gulit rarely spoke so much in one go, usually around Night Owl, she was timid.
"Hmm, if he dies, it’s not good for me either."
"Moore..." Gulit resumed crying.
Night Owl looked at Moore, Moore didn’t understand the situation but cried seeing his mother cry. Looking at the snot-filled crying child, Night Owl’s eyes were filled with disgust.
"Everyone just shut up!"
Gulit immediately stopped crying, rocked her son, fearing she might anger Night Owl.
Gulit realized it, even being his child, Night Owl didn’t have much affection for Moore. On the contrary, Night Owl disliked the child.
