Chapter 1164 - 1104: Showing Off Their Love
This woman completely treated Sienna Johnson and the others like idiots.
There were so many people at the lantern festival, all focused on the dazzling array of products and delicacies. If someone wasn’t intentionally looking for a person, they might not notice even if they brushed past them.
"Yeah, it’s such a coincidence. Among so many people, we actually bumped into each other twice." Sienna Johnson’s tone was laden with sarcasm, clearly intending to dig at the situation.
Ivy Evans stepped forward and said, "Aunt, why don’t we all visit the lantern festival together."
"Sure." Sienna smiled, but her eyes glinted coldly.
Adrian Desmond cast a cold glance at Ivy Evans, as if looking at a dead person, but Ivy’s heart still raced.
Inwardly, she cheered: He looked at me, he looked at me.
All along, Sienna Johnson and Adrian Desmond interlaced their fingers, leaning against each other intimately. Ivy walked on Adrian Desmond’s right, her body intentionally or unintentionally brushing against him.
Each time they touched, Adrian Desmond’s brows furrowed, contemplating how to deal with this oblivious woman once he got back.
"Sir, madam, would you like to try our lamb meatballs? Black mountain goat, the taste is superb," a nearby shop owner enticed the customers.
Seeing Sienna stop, Adrian asked, "Want to eat?"
"Yes, I do."
Ivy chimed in sweetly, "I’m a vegetarian, I’ve never eaten meat."
"You not eating meat, how is that my problem?" Adrian snapped irritably.
Violet Evans was stunned by Adrian’s words, tears welling up in her eyes.
Sienna remained amicable, smiling, "Since you’re not eating meat, why don’t you browse around on your own? We’re going to be here eating for quite some time."
"Is one plate enough?" Adrian asked.
"We just had lots of snacks earlier, I’ll just taste a bit."
Adrian took out his wallet and bought a freshly made plate of lamb meatballs for Sienna. The two squeezed at a small table and ate the lamb meatballs.
Adrian, a true meat lover, enjoyed everything meat-related. These lamb meatballs tasted nice, and Adrian relished them.
"Why did you stop eating? Don’t like it?"
"The smell is quite strong." Sienna replied.
Sienna fed Adrian the meatballs using a bamboo skewer, the two openly displaying affection, while Violet, sitting close by, flashed a look of jealousy.
"Uncle, do you really like eating lamb? I can make many delicious dishes, I’ll cook for you next time." Violet suggested.
Sienna laughed, "He only eats my cooking, he doesn’t touch meals prepared by other women."
Eating the meatballs, Adrian looked up and smiled at her, "Will you make lamb dumplings for me once we’re back?"
"Sure."
The two shared an intense intimacy, leaving Violet irked as she failed to wedge herself in despite trying hard.
"Uncle, aren’t Abyanabad men allowed to marry multiple wives? Do you have a wife in Abyanabad?" Violet asked.
Adrian dismissed the question, maintaining a cold, lofty demeanor.
"He has no other women, only me. We agreed upon marriage with a Chinese wife, he would be monogamous." Sienna explained to Ivy.
Upon hearing this, Ivy looked at Adrian with sympathy, as if he had suffered a huge grievance, "How can it be? Uncle is so outstanding..."
"In what way?" Sienna queried.
"Abyanabad customs are like that, my classmate’s father has married over twenty wives."
Sienna chuckled lightly, "You’re a Chinese woman too, I’d have thought you’d abhor Abyanabad’s polygamy. I didn’t expect after studying there for two years you’d agree with their system."
"We should respect their customs. Just like Orienta’s Mosuo tribe practices walking marriage, and some people in northwestern Orienta don’t eat pork."
Ivy recited, occasionally glancing at Adrian, trying hard to showcase her reasonableness to him while making Adrian realize how unreasonable and domineering Sienna was.
Sienna lifted Adrian’s chin, tilting her head slightly, gazing at him with narrowed eyes, "Tell me, how many wives do you want?"
Adrian held Sienna’s hand, kissed it gently, gazing at her affectionately, "I only want to marry you. No other woman compares to even your little toe, I have no interest in them."
Under the table, Sienna lightly kicked his leg, feeling he overacted.
"Annoying."
"In what way does Mrs. Desmond find me annoying? I will certainly change."
"I love everything about you." Sienna whispered, a beautiful curve appearing on her lips, her eyes smiling into crescents.
Beside them, Violet twisted her hands, her anger building as she couldn’t get near Adrian with Sienna around.
She had to find a way to send Sienna away.
How could she send Sienna away?
...
After enjoying lamb meatballs, the trio walked towards the northern part of the lantern market.
There were acrobatic shows in the north, and Curly was set to meet them there for the performance. They agreed to regroup at that spot.
The Dragon Dance Team marched in with gongs and drums, firecrackers crackling. A firecracker suddenly flew towards Sienna, startling her.
"Are you okay?" Adrian asked.
"I’m fine."
They were small firecrackers, not harmful, Sienna was merely startled.
"So many people here?"
Sienna knew there would be crowds at the lantern festival, but not to this extent.
"Guess everyone came out to play."
The crowd surged, Adrian protected Sienna cautiously, "Ah..." People fell in front, and those behind were pushed forward by those even further back, unable to stop.
"Stop pushing, someone fell up front." The shouting drowned in the noise of the environment, nobody at the back heard.
People kept pushing forward, Adrian shielded Sienna, blocking the crowd from behind.
"Adrian, what’s going on?"
"Someone fell in front, but the people behind don’t know, they keep pushing forward."
They also got pushed forward by the crowd.
Violet approached frantically, "Uncle, what do we do now?"
A child’s cries sounded ahead...
"Stop pushing, someone fell up ahead." Sienna shouted, "Ah..." A person from the right bumped into Sienna, causing her to trip, almost falling.
Sienna carefully guarded her stomach, surprising her that a stampede could happen at the lantern festival.
"Adrian, we can’t keep moving forward; let’s try to move to the side, we need to hide in a shop." Sienna suggested.
"Alright."
However, the crowd was too dense, with human traffic tight, making it hard to move forward even if they wanted to.
Adrian held Sienna close, protecting her from harm.
"Ah..." Violet screamed, falling to the ground.
Violet cried, "Aunt, save me."
Violet fell right beside them; no matter how cold-blooded Sienna was, she couldn’t leave her to die unless she planned to break familial ties with the Briggs Family.
"Adrian, pick her up."
