Chapter 1138 - 1078: Tracing to the Imperial Palace
Sienna Johnson had been reading for quite some time, her eyes a bit uncomfortable, yet Adrian Desmond hadn’t returned. She glanced at the clock on the bedside table; it was almost ten o’clock.
"Why hasn’t he come back yet?"
Sienna yawned and instinctively reached for her phone to call Adrian, only to remember that he had taken her phone.
In the monitor, Sheehan had kicked off the blanket again, turning 90 degrees in his sleep. Sienna got up and went to the next room.
Just for a moment, Sheehan had changed his sleeping position again, lying on his stomach with his little butt sticking up. Sienna gently patted his little behind.
"If you keep being restless in your sleep, you’ll catch a cold and need an injection."
Sienna adjusted his sleeping position and tucked him back in. Sheehan mumbled, opened his eyes, and seeing his mother, smiled at her before turning over and going back to sleep.
"Little rascal!"
Without Adrian back, Sienna couldn’t fall asleep. She sat by the crib, watching him sleep. Such a mundane thing, yet Sienna couldn’t get enough of it.
Later, Sienna brought out her sketchbook and began drawing Sheehan. Time slipped away as she left behind one small portrait of Sheehan after another.
...
Even after smashing Sienna’s phone, Adrian still felt unresolved. He wandered outside for a long time. Once his emotions stabilized, he returned to the bedroom.
"Sienna?"
Not finding Sienna in the bedroom, Adrian thought she might be in their son’s room and went over to check.
Sure enough, she was in Sheehan’s bedroom.
"Sienna?"
"You’re back?" Sienna didn’t look at him, her head buried in drawing.
"What are you drawing?" Adrian placed his hand on Sienna’s shoulder and leaned over to look at the sketchbook.
The sketchbook was filled with various poses of Sheehan sleeping, each one adorable and endearing.
"Drawing your son."
"Sheehan’s sleeping positions are awfully unique..."
Sheehan lay in the crib, arms around his head, sleeping soundly. Looking at the face growing more and more like his own, Adrian said regretfully, "I hope the twins look like you."
"You’re so handsome, looking like you isn’t bad either." Sienna had no demands on their children’s looks.
"But, I want a child who looks like you."
Sienna turned her head and gave him a slight smile.
Sienna caressed her belly and softly said, "Baby, did you hear that? Daddy hopes you look like Mommy. You better strive to not look like Daddy, otherwise, when you and your brother and sister go out, you’ll just be smaller versions of them...copy and paste, how unoriginal."
Adrian: ...
"You’ve been gone a long time, how did Aaron Faber’s investigation go?" Sienna asked about business.
"I’ve found that the phone number belongs to Abyanabad."
Sienna turned to look at Adrian and asked, "So, he wasn’t lying to me?"
"It’s just the phone number’s location; we can’t be certain he’s in Abyanabad. Maybe he’s just trying to confuse us... Night Owl is particularly cunning." Adrian didn’t fully believe Night Owl’s story.
Sienna cautiously said, "You might be right."
"Abyanabad is such a small place, where could he possibly hide..." Adrian said.
"Have you searched everywhere in Abyanabad?"
Adrian thought for a moment and suddenly recalled the palace in Abyanabad. He told Sienna, "Except for one place."
"Where?"
"Shariff Royal Palace!"
Adrian’s influence hadn’t reached the Abyanabad palace. The former Sultan was cautious, surrounding himself with people whose families had served the Royal family for generations, not hiring unfamiliar faces at all.
After speaking, Adrian added, "I can investigate the perimeter of the palace, but the interior, the core, like the Sultan’s and his Princess Consorts’ chambers, my people can’t access."
"Is there a possibility that Night Owl is hiding inside?" Sienna boldly speculated.
"Not likely.
Both Kiya and the Queen have people around them whose parents worked for the former Sultan, with generations continuing their service...how do you think Night Owl could blend in?"
Sienna shrugged it off, "Not long ago, he disguised as Noah Phillips and I didn’t even notice.
What if Noah Phillips disguised himself as someone in the palace?"
"..."
"I’ll find a way to investigate."
Sienna reminded him, "Night Owl is very cunning. Have your people be cautious, don’t let him escape again."
"He’s just a fugitive."
"A cornered beast bites the hardest as they have nothing to lose. It’s different for us, we have so many people around us that need protection, if he bites any of them, we won’t bear it."
Barefoot isn’t afraid of wearing shoes; Night Owl is that barefoot now.
"I understand."
Adrian handed his phone to Sienna, saying, "Aaron took your phone for research, use mine. I’ve put your SIM card in it."
Sienna’s phone had long been smashed by Adrian.
"Oh, okay."
"Your phone was monitored; next time Night Owl calls you, find a way to drag out the conversation so Aaron can determine his exact location."
"No problem."
...
Three days later, when Sienna tried calling that number again, it had already become inactive.
Night Owl’s caution was truly vexing.
Now, Sienna eagerly hoped Night Owl would call her, but unfortunately, he never did again.
Time flew by, and soon it would be the New Year, with a festive atmosphere filling the streets.
The Spring Festival is a major celebration for those from Orienta. After a year of hard work, people begin migrating back to their hometowns like migratory birds from all over the country.
The Spring Festival travel and the Spring Festival Gala are hot topics every year.
"Dad, how much of a red envelope will you give me for the New Year?"
Curly’s main concern for the Lunar New Year was this topic.
Adrian asked Sienna, "How much of a red envelope do children get for the New Year here?"
"It depends on your financial strength; giving 50 is fine, 15 is fine, 1000 is fine." Sienna looked at her daughter and told Adrian, "As long as it’s from the heart, giving her 15 is quite a lot."
"Oh, just 15." Curly complained it was too little.
George said, "It’s okay, if it’s not enough, I’ll make up for it!"
Adrian looked at George and said, "Only elders can give juniors red envelopes, are you going to be Curly’s elder?"
Curly said, "Then Curly, if there’s anything you want, tell me and I’ll buy it for you."
"George, aren’t you going home for the New Year?"
"In Abyanabad, we don’t celebrate the Spring Festival."
Sienna also said, "With the New Year, school will have a holiday; you should go back and see your parents."
Although George lived next door to the Johnson Family, he video-called with his parents every two or three days, so he didn’t feel like he had been away from them for long.
