The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First

Chapter 162: Banquet

Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Banquet

She took the family’s ID cards, having the staff input 300,000 points into each one, and finally swiped her own ID card to verify and deposit the remaining five-million-plus points.

The reason for doing this was to create the illusion that she had cleared out most of her spatial storage. After all, she had promised Francis Grant to help store the majority of the supplies the team would need for this outing.

Her bracelet wasn’t on her because Lynn Shelby, upon discovering its existence, had become absolutely obsessed with it. He was completely engrossed in the Mutation Circle, analyzing the content post by post and exclaiming how awesome the base was as he read.

Seeing his interest, Luna Dawson gave him the video of their battle against the Third Rank mutant snake at the water plant. Lynn Shelby was thrilled. After editing the footage, he immediately uploaded it to the Mutation Circle.

The description included a brief introduction: *Third Rank Water System Giant Mutant Snake*

Skills: Giant Water Bombs, Tail Swipe, Bite, Constriction, Hard Outer Shell.

Size: Total length of 16 meters, body diameter of 1 meter.

Weaknesses: Eyes, Mouth, Internal Organs.

Therefore, the bracelet seemed to be even more useful in Lynn Shelby’s hands than it had been in hers. People browsing the Mutation Circle could now learn from others’ kill posts and educational videos, gaining a new understanding of this world.

The only downside was that whenever Francis Grant occasionally contacted her, it was either Kevin Keane or Lynn Shelby who replied. As a result, Francis Grant couldn’t quite reconcile the perfunctory, cold tone of those messages with the smiling Luna Dawson in reality.

This stark contrast gave him a strange sense of dissonance. He wondered why there was such a huge difference between her online and offline personas when it was the exact same communication account. Was Luna Dawson exceptionally serious when facing missions, or had his impression of her that day been mistaken?

Just as Luna Dawson and Evan Olson stepped through the front door, about to pull out their ID cards to show everyone how rich they were now, they noticed a somewhat strange expression on their family members’ faces.

"What’s wrong?" Luna Dawson asked, thoroughly confused.

Blake Blue spoke up. "Kyle Keith came over personally just now. He said he wanted to invite our Sunset Squad out for a meal."

"Who did he come with?" Evan Olson asked.

"He brought another girl, not Susan Vaughn. He said that since we’re about to head out on a mission together, we should get to know each other first."

Luna Dawson smiled faintly. "Sure, that works. Having a meal together is fine. It saves us the trouble of making dinner anyway."

Upon hearing Luna Dawson’s response, Lynn Shelby immediately fired off a reply to Kyle Keith on the bracelet. "All set. I told him you agreed to the dinner."

Luna Dawson was speechless. This bracelet was seriously too convenient. Had he already added Kyle Keith’s contact information that quickly?

Kyle Keith’s efficiency was incredibly high. Before five o’clock in the afternoon, three modified military off-road vehicles were already waiting at the villa’s entrance. The whole family, young and old, headed out for a free meal—except for the few small animals and plants that Luna Dawson had tucked away in her spatial storage.

The hotel in Sector Four exuded a luxury that seemed completely out of place in the apocalypse, even just from its facade. The dark brown marble walls were polished to a mirror-like shine, and the hotel’s nameplate, outlined in gleaming gold, hung above the lintel. Even under the gloomy apocalyptic sky, it still shone with a cold, crisp luster.

It was clear the place had been recently renovated, showing absolutely no traces of the apocalyptic outbreak. It provided fresh vegetables, fruits, and meat every day. Perhaps the base had some special cold storage methods, as some pre-apocalyptic vegetables were still available. As for how long the meat had been frozen, that was a question better left unasked for now. Even so, it was currently one of the top luxury banquet venues in the entire base.

Meanwhile, the news of Kyle Keith hosting the Sunset Squad had been deliberately spread around the mission hall. Some bored individuals gossiped that Kyle Keith’s Endless Squad might be planning to absorb the Sunset Squad. After all, as a second-generation official in the base, his influence was considerable. Latching onto such a powerful backer was a fantastic opportunity.

As soon as their vehicles arrived at the hotel entrance, several young women in hotel uniforms ran up to open the doors, guiding them all the way inside.

Upon stepping into the lobby, a bright crystal chandelier immediately caught their eyes. Dozens of crystal lights refracted a dazzling brilliance, illuminating the entire hall as brightly as daytime. Right then, a slender figure walked toward them, her arm linked with a tall man.

Looking at the girl’s face, Luna Dawson felt she looked somewhat familiar. She searched her memory repeatedly but couldn’t quite recall where she had seen her before.

"That’s the woman who had her eyes on your Brother Evan and your brother." Kevin Keane leaned in slightly, whispering into Luna Dawson’s ear from behind. His warm breath brushed against the ticklish spot on her ear, making her subconsciously raise a hand to rub her earlobe.

The girl was wearing a vintage, square-neck black velvet winter gown. She wore a perfectly measured smile, gazing at the group with gentle eyes. Her smile was incredibly precise—a fraction more would seem overly sycophantic, while a fraction less would appear distant and fake.

The young man she was holding onto stood tall and straight, with fair skin and handsome, chiseled features. A pair of thin, gold-rimmed glasses rested on the bridge of his nose, and the eyes behind the lenses were gentle. He always carried a faint smile when speaking, exuding an elegant and easygoing aura.

The two walked up to the group and first raised a hand in polite greeting. Then, the man extended a pair of beautifully slender hands with well-defined knuckles straight toward Luna Dawson. "Captain Dawson, it’s a pleasure to meet you." His handsome face revealed an even friendlier smile than before, and his gentle tone made one feel as if they were bathing in a spring breeze.

Luna Dawson shook his hand without hesitation, her eyes smiling and her tone enthusiastic. "Likewise, Captain Kessler."

Kyle Keith clearly hadn’t expected Luna Dawson to be so warm. His body stiffened slightly as he froze for half a second. He had initially thought that Luna Dawson would be as cold and aloof as she had been when replying to his messages. After all, she had interacted with Francis Grant first. Meeting him for the first time, she logically should have been somewhat icy and cautious.

He had quietly scanned the members of the Sunset Squad just now. It seemed they were a motley crew of the old, the weak, and the disabled. However, the men in the team possessed steady and powerful auras—clearly no ordinary figures. How could they willingly let a seemingly carefree little girl be their captain? Moreover, this Luna Dawson was surprisingly beautiful.

"Hello, Captain Kessler." Kevin Keane reached out and deliberately pulled Luna Dawson’s hand away, taking Kyle Keith’s hand in his own instead. "I am the vice-captain of the Sunset Squad, Kevin Keane."

"Ah, Captain Keane. A Third Rank Thunder System Superpower User. I’ve heard so much about you." Kyle Keith’s smile deepened.

Lynn Shelby absolutely detested the sight of a bunch of people acting so hypocritically. They were all faker than the last, as if it were a competition. "Boss, I’m hungry. I want to eat."

Luna Dawson was exasperated. Besides eating and petting cats, couldn’t Lynn Shelby at least pretend to play along?

Vanessa Stone, who was standing beside Kyle Keith, immediately chimed in. She gently shook his arm, inconspicuously rubbing her body against his as she spoke in a delicate tone. "That’s right, Brother Chuck. Let’s go up and eat first. Don’t leave our guests standing downstairs. It’s so impolite."

Kyle Keith gently patted the back of Vanessa Stone’s hand. With a hint of embarrassment in his smile, he turned to the group. "Vanessa is right. It was thoughtless of me. Let’s head upstairs first. We can eat and chat."
