Chapter 246 - 94: Yunding Hotel, Fireworks Worth Millions

They arrived in Yundu a little after two in the morning and checked into the most luxurious local hotel, the Yunding Hotel, booking five presidential suites.

In addition to their group of four and Sheng Mingyue, Xu Shijie and his three companions had also been brought along.

Perhaps because she had gotten some sleep on the plane, Jiang Li wasn’t tired.

In fact, not only was she not tired, she was even a little hungry.

Once Shen Yanzhi had put their things away, Jiang Li blinked innocently and pointed to her barely noticeable belly. "How about we go out for a late-night snack? Your little darling says she’s hungry."

Shen Yanzhi’s lips curved into a smile. "Of course, little darling."

Jiang Li grew a little flustered under Shen Yanzhi’s gaze. She turned to grab her phone, the tips of her ears blushing as she said, "Let’s go!" Without waiting for a reply, she immediately opened the door, giving Shen Yanzhi no chance to say another word.

Watching Jiang Li’s retreating figure, Shen Yanzhi shook his head with a resigned smile and quickly followed her.

The moment she was out the door, Jiang Li sent a message to the new group chat: "Anyone up for a late-night snack?"

She immediately received affirmative replies from everyone.

And so, their outing for two became an outing for nine.

Since it was the New Year holiday, Jiang Li wasn’t sure if any places would still be open for a late-night meal. She made several calls through a food delivery app and finally found a street-side eatery that was still serving.

She immediately ordered a ton of food over the phone so they wouldn’t have to wait long after they arrived.

Once everyone had gathered in the lobby, they hailed three cabs to take them there.

After they got in the car and gave the address, the driver spoke up. "Judging by your accents, you’re not from around here, are you? Here on vacation?"

Jiang Li hummed in agreement, then asked, "Sir, do you know where the best spot is to watch fireworks?"

The driver laughed. "You’ve definitely asked the right person about that."

"If you want to watch fireworks, you have to go to Shandan Lake. From the top of the mountain, you can see all of Yundu, and there’s a lake down below. It’s absolutely beautiful at sunrise."

The mere thought of the scenery made Jiang Li wish she could go there immediately.

It wasn’t every day you met such an agreeable driver, so Jiang Li asked tentatively, "This is our first time here, so we’re not familiar with the place. If you’re not busy, would you be willing to have a meal with us? Then you could drive us there afterward."

Before the driver could answer, Jiang Li quickly added, "Don’t worry, I’ll compensate you for the lost fare."

The driver chuckled. "Sure thing. I’ll just count it as taking a break, and I even get a free meal."

Jiang Li raised her eyebrows at his words. ’I didn’t expect him to be so easygoing.’

Remembering her goal for the Yundu trip, she asked, "In that case, do you know anyone who sells fireworks?"

Instead of answering directly, the driver asked, "How many fireworks are you looking to buy?"

Jiang Li thought for a moment. "A few million’s worth, I guess."

’It’s not every day I get to watch fireworks, so I should definitely try every kind there is. I’ll just consider it my contribution to Yundu’s economic growth.’

Jiang Li’s words made the car swerve.

The driver’s voice was shaky as he asked, "Miss, you’re not pulling my leg, are you?"

It wasn’t just the driver who was shocked; even Shen Yanzhi, sitting right next to her, was stunned.

’He’d thought Jiang Li just wanted to set off a few thousand’s worth of fireworks, not a few million.’

’That was millions going up in smoke in just a few minutes.’

’Still, Shen Yanzhi didn’t really object. If Jiang Li wanted to see it, then he’d let her.’

’As her husband, his job was to fulfill her wishes, not criticize them.’

Jiang Li nodded seriously. "I’m not kidding."

The driver glanced at Jiang Li in the rearview mirror. Seeing that she wasn’t joking in the slightest, he couldn’t help but gulp.

’There are so many rich people in the world, so why can’t I be one of them?’

’Spending millions just on fireworks... Sometimes he really wanted to fight these rich people!’

He took a deep breath. "No problem. I’ll get on it in a little while."

"So, Miss, when are you planning to set them off?"

Jiang Li did a quick calculation in her head, then asked, "What time is sunrise, roughly?"

"Around six o’clock, give or take."

Jiang Li snapped her fingers. "Then let’s set them off a little after five. The timing should be perfect if we head over after we eat."

The driver didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Miss, aren’t you forgetting about the time you’ll have to wait for the food?"

Jiang Li grinned. "I already ordered everything when I was looking up the location. We should be able to eat pretty much as soon as we get there."

In addition to grilled skewers, she had also ordered stir-fried dishes and fried rice.

She had basically ordered one of everything the restaurant had to offer.

’After all, with so many people, she couldn’t expect everyone to have the same taste as her.’
