Chapter 1339: A Final Chance To Go Back Home

Chapter 1339: A Final Chance To Go Back Home

The monster that towered them by dozens of meters slowly lowered its head.

Soren and Julia struggled to fight the strong urge to run away from the powerful monster before them.

Their fight and flight mode had been screaming at them to move, and even though they understood that escaping was futile even if they tried, they would still risk it all to escape with their lives.

At the smallest sign of aggression, Soren and Julia would leave the rest of the Wanderers and prioritize their own safety.

“Don’t be afraid. We’re your allies.”

A voice reached everyone’s ears, which made the smile on Derek’s face widen a bit more.

In order to further scare the already anxious people, Rocky slowly opened its mouth, which made Soren and Julia subconsciously lean back on their chair.

From inside the monster’s mouth, a teenage boy appeared with a faint smile on his face.

“Z-Zion!” Julia gasped. “You’re Zion Leventis, right?!”

“That’s right.” Thirteen nodded. “I am indeed Zion Leventis.”

The moment Soren and the Wanderers realize who the newcomer was, all of them stood up in surprise.

They heard the story of this teenage boy, who was accidentally sent to Solterra when he was only seven years old.

Tales of his great adventures spread among the Wanderers, as those who had witnessed and accompanied him in his missions shared his tale to everyone who wished to hear it.

His exploits both in Solterra and Pangea, were considered legendary, impossible to be replicated by any member of the young generation.

“Don’t worry. Jason and his subordinates are alive,” Thirteen said. “I’m just teaching them a little lesson so they won’t dare defy me in the future.”

The Wanderers couldn’t help but think that Jason might have a few screws loose on his head if he still defied Zion after seeing Rocky.

It would take a team of Monarchs to bring down a Rank 9 Sovereign, and a mere Champion didn’t stand a chance against it.

“You can see them later, but first, let me explain our situation,” Thirteen said as he stepped out of Rocky’s massive maw and stood at the center of the plaza.

Everyone’s gaze locked in his direction, momentarily forgetting that a Rank 9 Monster was currently towering above their heads.

“Our mission is not simple,” Thirteen explained. “But if you want to go back to Pangea, joining us is your only option.”

Everyone in the settlement had long decided to join the mission of the next batch of Wanderers that would appear in their location.

Seeing Zion, Roland, and Derek made them feel hopeful that they would be able to accomplish it with this kind of lineup.

However, Thirteen’s next words scared them all stiff.

“Our mission is to stop the army under the command of a Celestial from reaching Mount Olympus,” Thirteen stated.

His words were calmly spoken, but the impact its meaning brought to all who heard him was earth-shattering.

A few minutes of silence descended on the plaza, as if everyone had forgotten how to talk.

After a while, Soren finally got his voice back and asked the question that was in everyone’s mind.

“Is this a joke?” Soren asked hoarsely. “Because if it is, it’s not funny.”

Thirteen pointed at his face. “Do I look like I’m joking?”

Soren glanced at Roland’s direction and saw the Hero nod as if to affirm Zion’s statement.

“Does the God of Wanderers want us to die?” Julia said, her face turning pale. “Did he abandon us?”

“He didn’t abandon anyone,” Thirteen replied. “However, if you already lost hope, then nothing I say will be of help. You can choose to remain here in this city or come with us to fight. I will not force any of you to go. But…”

Thirteen paused for a bit before scanning the faces of the Wanderers who fell into despair as soon as they heard their mission.

“But if you don’t take this chance, you will regret it for the rest of your lives,” Thirteen added. “I will give you a piece of good news since you guys might be unupdated with the current situation in Pangea.

“First, we have won the war in the Cygni Continent and have come to a peace treaty with the Jinns. Second, we have also reached an agreement with the Jinns in the Rigel Continent. Right now, the Dvalinn Federation is busy with construction projects to once again build cities in Rigel.”

The Wanderers looked at Zion in shock as they processed everything he had told them.

Even Soren and Julia, who came from Cygni, couldn’t believe what they heard.

“We really won the war in Cygni?” Julia asked. “And Rigel has also been reclaimed? The Jinns are no longer trying to wipe out humanity from the face of the world?”

“Yes, Yes, and Yes,” Thirteen replied. “Oh. I forgot to add that Aaron Ashford and Norman Stallard are both dead. Their Clans have now become vassals of the Leventis Family.”

If the news about the situation in Cygni and Rigel surprised everyone, the news about Aaron’s and Norman’s deaths made the Wanderers gasp in shock.

For them, the Monarchs were the absolute beings in the world of Pangea.

No one dared to offend them, and those who did would find themselves and their entire families at the jaws of death.

But Zion just said that these two high-handed Monarchs were finally dead, and their families were now serving the Leventis Family, which they last remembered as a mere Prestigious Family.

“And do you know how all of that became possible?” Derek asked, his voice loud and arrogant. “It was all thanks to my Master’s effort that we won this war. Also, aside from the battles in Cygni and Rigel, he also went to Artem to fight against the Artemians.”

The swordsman pointed at one of the two moons in the sky, looking so smug as if he had been the one to go to Artem and fight the Artemian Celestials.

“Zion is right,” Roland commented. “This might be your last and final chance to go back home. If I were you guys, I would join his group no matter what.”

Roland had once treated the teenage boy as his rival, but now, he treated him as a dependable comrade.

He had long accepted that Zion was smarter and stronger than him. The only category where he had the teenage boy beat was in good looks.

After hearing the full story from the other Wanderers who had appeared in the ancient ruins, Soren, Julia, and the rest of the Wanderers confirmed that everything Derek had said was real.

Earlier, they all felt despair.

But now, hope once again bloomed in their hearts.

Although this mission was going to be difficult, Soren and Julia decided to give Zion their full support. In a world that had slowly broken their resolve, they believed he was the only one that could create a miracle.

Thirteen’s gaze swept across the crowd of Wanderers, ensuring that each of them understood the gravity of what he was saying.

“This is not a simple journey,” Thirteen declared. “The Celestial army is not something we can defeat with mere swords or spells alone. Their strength, strategy, and numbers are beyond anything most of you have ever faced. But together… we can turn the tide.”

Soren tightened his fists, feeling the weight of the decision before him.

The thought of facing a Celestial army made his stomach churn, but seeing Zion standing there, calm and confident, gave him a sense of reassurance he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Julia felt the same, and for the first time in many years, they felt that this barren patch of land in the middle of nowhere, had finally found some rain, giving everyone a second lease at life.
