Chapter 1120: Summoners War
Chapter 1120: Summoners War
Cthulhu brought them to the very top of the castle. The area around might have looked like it was a mountain, but it turned out to be multiple buildings covered in moss, which created an even bigger structure.
And their current location was at the top of that very structure. They could see the entirety of the city from the top, but their vision was slightly obstructed by the mist and low clouds.
The inside of the building was unlike anything they had seen before. There was no moss or green liquid within the building, as though everything was kept away from the inside by some sort of power.
The inside had mysterious patterns, which Melissa and Charlotte took notes of to study. However, what took Nathan’s attention the most was the big table in the middle of the room. There were many chairs made of asteroid rock.
Cthulhu could sit on one of the chairs just fine, but the table alone stretched as far as two kilometers (1.2 miles), so they were like an ant.
Cthulhu sat down on the chair on the very edge of the table and let them down on top of the table.
“It doesn’t look like you are completely unaware of our existence in this world.” Cthulhu looked at them.
Nathan nodded. “I have gotten some information about you. There are five aliens in this world, correct?”
“Indeed. However, among those five, I am a messenger, while the other four are guides.”
“Guides?” Nathan looked down, contemplating.
Evelyn, on the other hand, noticed something weird about the alien they encountered. “Are they supposed to guide us to you?”
“!!!” Nathan and the others widened their eyes. That suspicion immediately led Nathan to the real answer. “I see. Myrall, Gratzel, Qion, and Erendtall. Four continents, four guides.”
The others were surprised at the sudden realization. That was right. If they had four continents, it meant each continent had one alien to spread the information about summoners. This answer also dispelled their doubt as to whether the alien was the one spreading the summoning power or not.
“So, that’s how it is…” Charlotte gasped. “They want us to find you. For what? To learn the circumstances of your original world? It can be said that the four aliens are there to measure our aptitude.”
“You are on the right path, but you are not entirely correct.” Cthulhu paused for a moment. “You are actually not the target. It’s him.”
Everyone instantly turned their heads to Nathan. Nathan pointed at himself with a dumbfounded face. After reading a lot of novels, it wouldn’t be weird for him to be the chosen one. After all, reincarnating stuff was considered as such.
Still, he never really wanted to believe it. The more he relied on his cheat, in this case his divine beasts, the more pathetic he would become.
After reading countless stories, the most hated character was the person who grew arrogant when they got strong quickly due to their golden fingers, such as the system. They didn’t put any effort into getting that power. So, in the end, those characters were the same as the people who bullied them because of the difference in talents. The protagonists simply didn’t have a chance before finding that cheat.
Nathan didn’t want to be something that pathetic. He didn’t consider himself a genius, whether in tactical battle or talent. Instead, he approached every problem cautiously, thinking of one possibility after another.
He spread his knowledge and strength to the people around him so that they could grow stronger alongside him.
That was why when Cthulhu told him he was the chosen one, Nathan couldn’t help but ask, “Am I really that kind of person? My talent is limited. I just happen to have one unique quality. However, if we’re talking about the chosen ones, there are at least two people who are much more suitable than me.”
The first person would be Elysion Aquamoon, while the other was Evelyn. They were much more talented than he was, so why would he be the chosen one?
If it were about an innate ability, Elysion had one as well. If it were about talent, both of them surpassed him. The only thing he had was his unique summoning system.
Nathan was aware of the fact that he was less talented. It was because of this that he had people around him. It was a path that shouldn’t be walked alone.
People like Revon and Neyeid were staring at Nathan as if he were some kind of idiot. On the other hand, Evelyn and the rest couldn’t deny everything he said.
Cthulhu, surprisingly, denied his claim. “No. The definition of my chosen one and your chosen one is different. For you, those people must be very talented.
“However, the definition of my chosen one is a person who will make a great change.
“Our race had been prosperous for millions of years until the appearance of that existence. We don’t know where it comes from or how it is born.
“However, that single existence ends up taking over our world. Our race fights back, but it doesn’t look very bright.”
“The black cell…” Nathan muttered.
“That’s what the people on your continent call it. However, our race calls it singularity.”
“Singularity…” Charlotte squinted her eyes. “Peak existence, huh?”
“That’s right. As a singularity, everything comes from it and it is everything. In other words, without erasing every single one of it, it will continue to multiply. You can say we’re fighting a peak existence who is also an immortal.
“As a result, our race searched for a way to defeat it and came up with several plans. And one of the chosen planets is this one.
“After realizing this plan, the singularity immediately uses the power of our gods to come to this planet, exterminating all kinds of predators that can be a threat.
“However, we give one of the powers that are most suitable for the living beings on this planet. It’s the summoning power.
“We call this plan ’Summoners War.’”
