Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1103: Sleep

Chapter 1103: Sleep

Nathan was completely out after pulling two all-nighters, especially after everything he had done in the couple of days prior to the departure. He was truly exhausted.

Evelyn couldn’t help but smile, looking at his peaceful face while sleeping. How could someone this young even help her with all the revenge?

Originally, she thought Nathan was just an overconfident brat. He was a first-year student with just a unique quality.

However, the more time passed, the more realized Nathan wasn’t like someone of his age. His thoughts were different from the people’s in the world.

Gradually, she couldn’t help but wonder if this was also the influence of his divine beasts. Thanks to their wisdom and their culture, Nathan turned into a different person compared to anyone she had met thus far.

At the same time, she also found more and more secrets about Nathan. How many secrets did Nathan still hide from her? The thought made her look forward to tomorrow, finding out another surprise from him.

Without her realizing it, several minutes had passed. Her eyes remained on his sleeping face the whole time.

Evelyn couldn’t help but remember how hard she had worked to reach this far. She was naturally gifted, but without that much hard work, she wouldn’t be able to reach this point.

Even when people saw her working on paperwork, she was actually training her micro control. They just never saw her because training was like a second nature for her.

And Nathan was similar to her. But the way Nathan trained was fundamentally different. People tried hard to do one thing again and again, while Nathan was constantly thinking. What should he do? What should he train today? Which training method was possible? Would there be another person who could give another answer?

Nathan put everything systematically, which made his training effective. He didn’t have a lot of time in the first place, with all the hunting, the academic research, and the time with his family. That was why he trained this way.

That kind of quality was different from Evelyn, but it also made her realize she had wasted a lot of her time by blindly training.

’People say that you will pick up things from the people around you.’ Evelyn’s expression melted. ’I wonder when it actually started… ever since I looked forward to tomorrow?

’In my entire life, I don’t look forward to tomorrow because everything is the same. During my childhood, I only had training, lessons, and Bella. There was nothing different, so I just wanted to have the strength to make my own choice.

’Once I entered the academy, it was the same. I had only those three things in my life. There might be seniors or juniors who admired me, but in the end, my life would remain the same.

’But after meeting him, I couldn’t help but look forward to tomorrow. What kind of secret will he reveal next? What kind of surprise will he bring out next? What kind of world does he want to build?

’I have come to learn there are still a lot of things in the world I can look forward to. The natural disaster, the natural wonders, and even the alien race… I want… to see it all.’

Evelyn’s emotionless face might actually stem from the boring daily life or how she perceived the world itself. Still, she had come to realize the world was beautiful. There were so many colors that she had yet to explore.

Evelyn extended her hand, her fingers approaching Nathan’s face. However, her finger froze right before touching his cheek. She then clenched it and pulled her arm back as though something had appeared in her mind.

’Maybe… next time… I’m satisfied with all this now.’ Evelyn shook her head before quietly leaving the room.

Outside, Mae leaped into the sky. Right before entering the ash cloud, she spun her body, using her ena to generate enough wind to blast away the ash cloud.

The sky was clear with so many stars in it. Mae raised her forefinger and middle finger on both hands before joining them together. “Star Chart. Open!”

Line after line emerged in the sky, creating a massive grid. Her eyes emitted a faint golden light as several golden pillars rose from the grid, which were only visible to her.

After a few seconds, she landed on the ship while saying, “Kun! Adjust the angle two degrees to the left. But slowly, okay? Master is sleeping right now. Let him rest comfortably.”

“Understood,” replied Kun while slowly making the adjustment.

“Is there something wrong?” Evelyn asked, approaching Mae as she landed.

“It’s nothing much. I just adjust the course according to the information. One or two degrees might not be much, but if we’re talking about hundreds if not thousands of kilometers (miles), the error will be quite significant. We might end up failing to find the destination.”

“Oh!” She nodded in understanding. “Still, the ash cloud has spread this far, huh?”

“Yes. For a supervolcano, it’s normal. The thick clouds probably cover the entire continent. However, the thin one can spread globally. Considering the direction where it came from, most likely the supervolcano came from the Myrall Continent. Of course, there’s a possibility of it being a supervolcano in the middle of the ocean.

“Nevertheless, the situation over there is probably not that good. After all, they are buried under an even thicker layer of ash compared to our continents. That’s why the aliens are coming for them more than us. They know it’s time to deal the finishing blow.”

Evelyn crossed her arms. “Does that mean if we come for revenge, it will just weaken them? After all, the people we are going to hunt are quite strong.”

“It might be. But they’re people who kill without batting an eye. There’s a chance they’re treated as criminals even on their continent, so we can’t come to a conclusion yet.”

“Fair enough.”

“Hopefully, the sky will be clear soon.”

“Yes, it’s easier to navigate with a clear sky than like this.” Mae nodded in agreement.

That was what they said, but it looked like their wish was granted sooner than they originally thought.
