Chapter 56: Luis: I Lost Interest In Tina Because Of Two Women

She took another sip of the Louis XIII, letting the warmth spread through her chest.

The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became. Ryan wasn’t a simp. He was a romantic. A tortured soul who had been rejected by a woman who couldn’t see his worth. And she, Linda, would be the one to show him what real love looked like.

She reached across the table, her fingers brushing against his hand.

"Ryan... I think I understand now. You’re not like other guys."

After some small talk, the dishes arrived one by one, and they ate and chatted.

Ryan asked, "By the way, Linda, you mentioned something about Tina? What was it?"

That was just an excuse. Linda thought quickly and said softly, "Tina has been in touch with Kai lately. He said he wanted to introduce her to a well-paying side job."

Selling out her best friend and passing along intel, that was the best move right now. To rise to the top, she had to pull down whoever was sitting on that pedestal.

Ryan listened carefully, filing away every piece of information. Tina and Kai were getting closer. That made his plan to bind her even more complicated.

"And she’s been chatting with Kai late into the night, having meals together, it seems like they’re even going on a date this weekend."

Linda kept piling it on, then moved on to other admirers, describing how Tina kept them at arm’s length while stringing them along.

"Ryan, you need to feel the urgency. If you really want to win Tina over, you’ll have to put in even more effort."

After the badmouthing, she quickly played the good guy again, saying considerately, "Tina really can’t tell who truly cares about her. Sometimes when I think about it, I feel it’s not worth it for you."

She was good... really good.

She’d just spent five minutes tearing Tina down, and now she was pretending to be the caring friend who was just looking out for him.

"You’re very considerate, Linda," he said, his voice warm.

"It’s nice to have someone who actually cares."

Linda’s face lit up. She leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

"I’ve always cared about you, Ryan. Even when no one else did."

’What the Fuck is this women talking about?’

Ryan smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

Her tea-serving performance tonight was on a whole different level compared to Tina.

Ryan looked a bit down. He raised his glass with a bitter smile and said, "What can I do? I’ve done everything I could. If we’re not meant to be, maybe my presence is just harassment to her."

He let the words hang in the air, watching Linda’s reaction.

He wasn’t actually sad about Tina anymore, but letting Linda think he was still pining for her would make Linda more eager to "save" him from his unrequited love.

Fucking his teacher made him realize that there is a whole sea out there compared to one Tina.

Ryan thought about this briefly as he swirled the Louis XIII in his glass.

Tina was still unbound, which meant she was useless to him right now. But Linda... Linda was already bound and she was sitting right in front of him.

He took a sip of his wine, letting the warmth spread through his chest.

"Done everything he could"... if you had thrown money at her like crazy, her ass would have been yours by now.

Linda thought lewdly, then cheerfully encouraged him, "Ryan, don’t be so down. Persistence pays off, I believe Tina will see your worth one day."

Ryan let out a dry laugh. "What’s the difference between that and saying ’everyone dies someday’?"

He leaned back in his chair, his eyes meeting hers.

"Right now, I’ve come to see things clearly. If my pursuit is just a burden to her, then I should let go."

His words were honest enough. He really was over Tina, at least, he was trying to be. The only thing he felt for her now was mild disappointment that things hadn’t worked out differently.

The impact of the stunning Anna had already started to fade Tina’s place in Ryan’s heart. The intimacy and the emotional fulfillment he got from her were unlike anything before.

Then there was Yana, the voluptuous married teacher with her endless charms.

Linda said with envy, "Tina really doesn’t know how lucky she is. The greatest love is letting go. If only a man would love me like that."

Ryan joked, "Don’t say that. Aren’t you and Link doing well?"

Linda’s boyfriend was named Link, a big name in the sports college, one of the main players on the school basketball team.

"Don’t even mention him. He’s got a bad temper, always yelling at people, and he’s so rigid."

Linda felt a strange sensation as she suddenly compared her boyfriend with the man before her. The comparison made her boyfriend seem full of flaws.

"All he does is play games and drink. He doesn’t even wash his clothes, they stink."

"He maxed out his credit cards, poured all his money into games, lied to his family for more, and never gets a part-time job."

"Last time I said I had a cold and cough, he told me to drink more hot water because he was in the middle of a game and couldn’t come."

Linda got angrier as she spoke, taking a big gulp of wine. She looked like she wanted to tear her boyfriend apart.

Ryan listened, nodding along. He felt a little bad for her, Link sounded like a pretty terrible boyfriend. But he also couldn’t help noticing how she kept comparing Link to him.

That wasn’t exactly subtle.

Because as Tina’s strategist and part of the simp-harvesting crew, she had witnessed too many classic moments.

In the middle of the night, Tina would say she suddenly felt like having barbecue, and the professional simp Ryan would climb over the school wall, buy enough barbecue and iced cola for the whole dorm, and deliver it.

After spending all his money, he’d immediately go out to deliver food to earn more.

Ryan looked surprised: "I heard from Tina that you two had a great relationship."

He was genuinely curious. From what Tina had said, Linda and Link were a happy couple. But clearly, that wasn’t the full story.

Linda’s expression turned serious, and she shook her head, "No. I’ve been thinking about when to break up with him."

"Didn’t you two date for almost a year? Is it that bad?"

Ryan asked, his voice genuine.

Linda said with a flirtatious look, "Hmph, if he treated me even half as well as you treat Tina, I’d gladly drop out and have his baby right now."

Ryan blinked, caught off guard by her directness. He wasn’t sure if she was joking or not, but the look in her eyes said she wasn’t.
