Chapter 640 Too Strong
The Boss’ expression didn’t change.
Several seconds later, he looked at Kyle.
“Did you try to kill my Core Elder?” he asked.
“If I wanted to, I would have hit his chest,” Kyle said. “As long as his Aspects are still connected, he won’t die.”
The Boss looked at the Elder, who just sighed.
The Elder had messed up this time, and he knew it.
“What are the rewards for the top Core Disciple?” the Boss asked the Core Elder.
“One Unification Pill and free Law Comprehension in any of our Law Wells for the next century,” the Core Elder answered.
The Boss nodded and pulled out a bottle with a red pill inside.
The next moment, he also summoned three big rocks made of Energy. These rocks were just as big and filled with Energy as the one Kyle had used to advance.
Then, the objects floated over to Kyle.
“Here’s your reward,” the Boss said evenly. “Since you won’t be able to benefit from our Law Wells, you get three Grade Three Energy Stones.”
Kyle put his reward into his Soul Space, but before he could say anything, the Boss continued talking.
“You’re too powerful for us,” the Boss said. “You may return to the Array of Stars.”
When Kyle heard that, he sighed.
His mission was done.
Naturally, the Array of Stars didn’t want their Exchange Seekers to remain in Secondary Organizations since they wouldn’t get the resources they deserved.
Any subservient organization of the Array of Stars had to give enough resources to support the Exchange Seekers as long as the Exchange Seeker showed that they deserved them.
If Kyle had lost a fight during the Trials, he would have gotten the same resources as an average Core Disciple, even though he wouldn’t even have deserved that much.
If he had become the top Core Disciple, he would have received the rewards of a top Core Disciple.
This would already be quite bad for the Highman’s Club. After all, money wasn’t endless.
The top Core Disciple received a significant amount of wealth, and if everything went to Kyle, another Core Disciple would miss out.
To the Highman’s Club, giving Kyle these resources was like lighting them on fire since he didn’t belong to them.
Usually, when an Exchange Seeker became the top Core Disciple, one of two things happened.
One, the organization would keep them there, but only if the difference in power between them and the second-ranked Disciple was not too wide. This would encourage the other Disciple to grow faster.
However, if the gulf in power was too wide, the Exchange Seeker’s presence wouldn’t encourage the other Disciples but demotivate them. In that case, the organization would simply send the Exchange Seeker back with their reward, stating that they couldn’t support their growth.
It was clear that Kyle was already as strong as their Chosen Disciples, if not stronger.
This meant he deserved the same number of resources as the next Boss, the current Boss was raising.
They couldn’t afford that.
Keeping Kyle here would only hurt them.
Being dismissed with that reason was Kyle’s goal.
Kyle’s performance had reminded the Secondary Organization of the Array of Stars’ power, and one of their Disciples also received a chunk of resources.
“Thank you, Senior,” Kyle said with a nod.
The Boss also nodded, and Kyle could tell, based on the Boss’ non-verbal communication, that he was supposed to leave now.
“Then, I will be on my way,” Kyle said as he took to the sky.
The other Disciples watched Kyle leave with mixed emotions.
The weaker Disciples sighed in relief and were in awe of his power.
Yet, the stronger Disciples felt frustrated.
People near the bottom were already used to being near the bottom, and when someone of incredible power appeared, their ego was unaffected.
However, when someone powerful and talented saw someone even more powerful and talented, their ego might take a big hit.
After Kyle left, the Boss talked to the Core Elder for a long time.
In the end, the Core Elder was allowed to keep his job, but he had to fix all of the stupid rules he had implemented.
He had only had good intentions, but his good intentions had still hurt the organization.
The Boss had known from the moment he had requested an Exchange Seeker that something like this would happen.
He had seen the last Exchange Seeker, who had come a couple of millennia ago.
Back then, he had also been one of the Core Elders.
While the situation back then hadn’t escalated as much as today, it had basically been identical.
The Exchange Seeker had arrived, showed their outstanding power, and left again with a bag full of resources.
This had humbled the Boss quite a bit, back in the day.
He had learned that trying to get the better of the Array of Stars was stupid.
It was like trying to intimidate a lawyer with a frivolous lawsuit.
The Disciples and the Core Elder would remember Kyle for a lifetime. They would tell stories of that one time they had seen a former Unique Transcendent.
In the future, when new Disciples joined, some of them would share their dream of joining the Array of Stars.
The Core Elder could only sigh whenever such a Disciple shared this dream.
Finally, many years from now, when a new wave of Elders and Disciples had arrived, they would call for an Exchange Seeker again.
And the same thing would recur.
The Array of Stars would send their youngest and newest Primals, and they would walk all over the oldest and strongest Primals of the Highman’s Club.
Kyle had just joined the Array of Stars, and he had already given hundreds of people a lifelong memory, while tens of thousands of people would hear stories of him.
After getting his reward, Kyle went back to the Teleportation Formation Array hall.
He went past all the normal Arrays and entered an exclusive one for the Array of Stars.
He activated his emblem, and the Teleportation Formation Array pulled him away.
Moments later, he arrived in the reception halls of the Array of Stars, and he saw Assistant greeting him.
“Welcome back, my lord,” she said with a smile. “Did everything go well?”
Kyle nodded. “Yep. Hey, do you know what a Unification Pill is?” he asked, pulling out the bottle with the pill.
“This is a Low-Grade Treasure to unlock the Ninth Cluster,” she answered. “The Array of Stars doesn’t sell these due to their low level, but they are very valuable to the Secondary Organizations.”
“Should I use this later?” Kyle asked.
“There is no limit to how many treasures you can use to unlock the Ninth Cluster,” Assistant said. “It might not help you a lot, but it will also not damage your foundation.”
“Cool, thanks,” Kyle said as he walked past Assistant.
Assistant just smiled and left.
When Kyle entered the big hall with all of the TVs, some of the other Disciples looked at him.
“Good job!” one of them transmitted with a smile.
“Thanks,” Kyle transmitted back.
