Chapter 439 Not My Job
The forces of the Skysand Kingdom retreated towards the other unsafe Ether Essence in the central landmass.
They would keep defending this one, hoping that the enemy wouldn’t push their attack.
The other unsafe Ether Essence was about 300 kilometers away from the other one, and this distance gave the Winterfire Kingdom another choice.
Should they eradicate the elite of the Skysand Kingdom and risk the birth of a new Transcendent, or directly go for the new Transcendent?
While it was a choice, it was about as difficult to make as a choice between getting a thousand bucks for free or ten thousand.
The Winterfire Kingdom rapidly charged towards the east, towards the Ether Essence that had the advancing Transcendent.
When the people of the Skysand Kingdom saw that they got to live another day, they released a deep sigh of relief.
The same Major General who had interrogated Kyle just a couple of years ago was present, and he was currently the person with the highest authority.
“You can start,” the Major General transmitted to somebody.
“Okay,” someone transmitted back.
Meanwhile, the forces of the Winterfire Kingdom closed in on the other Ether Essence.
The storm of Ether was getting more intense.
The person advancing was in the critical stage of advancement.
“Let me,” the man with the Law of Lightning said with a chuckle as he pointed at the distant mountain.
Lightning gathered above the storm of Ether.
Then, just before the lightning struck down, the storm of Ether stopped.
BOOOOOOOM!
The lightning hit the ground, destroying everything around it.
The man with the Lightning Law just kept smirking as he watched the gigantic explosion.
“I have become- oh, wait!” he said, but then, he saw a man charging out of the crater.
The man was severely injured.
“Oh, hey! You’re still alive!” the man with the Lightning Law transmitted to the fleeing man.
Just based on the Ether around the man, one thing was clear.
The breakthrough had failed.
The Ether inside the man’s Center was in complete chaos due to the failed breakthrough.
He had far too much Ether inside of him for his Realm.
This destroyed the equilibrium between his Aspects of Power.
“That’s the Crown Prince of Skysand,” the General of Winterfire said.
“The Crown Prince?” the man with the Lightning Law asked. “I thought he wasn’t so special.”
“We were under the same impression,” the General said.
The Crown Prince kept retreating. He was not in fighting condition.
“Stop playing around and do your job!” the General shouted at the man with the Lightning Law.
The man just snorted. “You better make this worth my time.”
BANG!
At that moment, several streaks of lightning came out of the man’s body, and he started to levitate.
The lightning connected to the ground, creating a magnetic force that pushed him into the air.
“Be right back,” he said.
BANG!
Then, the man shot forward.
His speed climbed and climbed until he reached speeds of almost ten kilometers per second.
Nobody else in the Third Realm could reach such speeds.
Not even Kyle as a Peak Expert.
Within seconds, the man appeared in front of the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince gritted his teeth as the ground around him lifted into the sky.
“I guess that’s the Law of Earth?” the man asked.
The stones around the Crown Prince turned into weapons, which all shot at the man.
“What a waste,” the man said as his lightning moved him past all the weapons.
“If you actually had control over your Ether, this would have been a nice fight,” he said.
BANG!
Suddenly, the man appeared directly in front of the Crown Prince, whose eyes opened wide in horror.
The man just smirked.
Then, he flicked the Crown Prince’s forehead with his index finger.
“Boop.”
BANG!
The Crown Prince’s body was covered in streaks of lightning for just an instant.
His expression was still filled with horror as his blackened body collapsed into ash.
“Anyway. Job’s done,” he said.
Then, a bright and lovely smile appeared on his face.
“Done with work for the day! That means I get to spend time with my darling!”
BANG!
The man charged with all of his speed towards the northwest, right towards his home in the Winterfire Kingdom.
But on his way, he threw an interested glance to his side.
‘Huh, that’s strange,’ he commented.
On his way back, he just so happened to pass by the other endangered Ether Essence of the Skysand Kingdom.
And there just so happened to be a second storm of Ether.
‘A second guy from the Skysand Kingdom is becoming a Transcendent?’ he thought. ‘So, this first guy was just a distraction?’
‘Wonder if it’s that other guy. The son of the Champion of Skysand.’
For just a moment, the man stopped as he weighed his options.
‘Nah, I’ve already dealt with a potential Transcendent for a day. That’s enough work from me. How about the Winterfire Kingdom gets off its ass for once and deals with a crisis itself?’
‘I have not been told to kill two potential Transcendents.’
The man smirked.
“You should’ve chosen me over that other guy,” he spoke to himself.
Then, he simply continued charging towards the northwest, ignoring whatever was happening at the other Ether Essence.
Moments later, the battle near the Skysand Kingdom’s headquarters intensified as the king heard of his son’s death.
King Winterfire had more difficulty in keeping King Skysand at bay, but he knew that King Skysand wouldn’t continue attacking with such desperation.
He just needed to calm down a bit.
The General of Skysand kept attacking the First Advisor with just as much ferocity as before.
The Champion of Skysand also kept engaging the Second Advisor, despite the Second Advisor moving the battlefield closer to the Winterfire Kingdom.
The battles on the ground intensified.
Several minutes passed, and slowly, the Winterfire Kingdom became suspicious.
Why were they not stopping?
Why were they still fighting?
That was when the Second Advisor’s eyes widened in horror.
A new man had appeared in the sky behind her.
She did not recognize that person, but he looked very similar to the Champion of Skysand.
When she felt the Ether around him, she became terrified.
A Transcendent?!
At that moment, the Champion looked at the Chief, who was now a Transcendent.
The two of them nodded at each other.
Then, they turned their gazes towards the Second Advisor of Winterfire.
