Chapter 398 Crackhead Physics
Kyle was now leading, commanding, administrating, and representing the Stark Brotherhood while also completing all commissions on his own.
Amazing!
Kyle was running an entire Four-Weapons Guild on his own!
And yet, he was also not doing anything.
The former Guild Leader had managed everything.
Kyle just needed to go to his room once per day to check if mail for the Guild had arrived.
He received about two letters per month, and one of them was just a regular information sheet.
The other letter was just the Skysand Kingdom asking for their monthly metrics.
Kyle just laughed and put a fat zero in every field.
The person who checked the metrics naturally got suspicious and escalated the issue due to suspicion of fraud.
The next person would see that this concerned a Four-Weapons Guild and would escalate the issue further.
Then, the Crown Prince would receive the Guild’s metrics.
He would call Kyle and ask him if these metrics were correct.
Kyle, the representative, would ask Kyle, the Guild Leader, who would ask Kyle, the administrator. Kyle, the administrator, would confirm that there were no issues and include all the information about all the missions they had done this month in his feedback to Kyle, the Guild Leader. Finally, Kyle, the Guild Leader, would inform Kyle, the representative.
Kyle would turn to the Crown Prince and say yes, and the Crown Prince would confirm the validity of the metrics.
This happened exactly once per month.
And that was the extent of what Kyle had to do as his job of Four-Weapons Guild.
About 3.5 years after arriving in the castle, something important happened.
By now, Kyle had been roleplaying a meteorite for years.
Understanding the sixth level of speed was far harder than understanding the fifth level of speed, and the fifth level had already taken Kyle a couple of years.
However, there was an important difference.
Kyle hadn’t been able to properly experience the fifth level of speed since he could only reach it for very short instances.
Yet, Kyle experienced the sixth level of speed for several seconds at a time, about once every minute.
This meant that almost 10% of Kyle’s life was spent moving at speeds of over five kilometers per second.
That was a lot of time to look at how Ether moved at these speeds.
After falling from the sky one more time, Kyle realized something.
There was an overarching concept of how the Ether, dictating speed, changed between levels. “Wait a second,” Kyle said after climbing out of the pile of dust.
The hawk stopped and just hovered above Kyle.
For a while, Kyle just focused on the idea he had just had.
‘Brah, if that’s actually the case…’
Kyle did a bunch of calculations while infusing a stone in his hand with Wind Ether.
A moment later, the stone shot forward without Kyle moving his hand.
The Wind Ether around the stone changed several times before completely vanishing.
And then…
The stone suddenly stopped in the middle of the air before falling to the ground.
“Dude, you serious?” Kyle asked nobody in particular.
He did the same thing again, and the stone once more stopped in the middle of the air after all the Wind Ether vanished.
“Wait a second!” Kyle shouted as he quickly charged to the closest body of water.
He jumped into the body of water and launched the stone the same way as before.
The only difference was that he was doing it underwater this time.
The stone shot forward, and the Wind Ether reduced.
And when the Wind Ether vanished…
The stone continued!
It continued moving forward!
It was slowing down quite quickly, but it was moving forward!
Above ground, the stone had simply stopped.
‘This is not real!’ Kyle thought as he repeated the experiment several more times.
Some minutes later, he jumped out of the water and jumped into the gigantic pile of dust the Earth Elemental had prepared.
Then, he launched another stone, and once more, it didn’t stop after all the Wind Ether vanished.
‘Brah, I can’t believe this is real,’ Kyle thought after he walked out of the pile of dust.
‘What fucked kind of physics is this?’
‘Fucking speed is not a universal thing!’
‘You know how speed on Earth is the same thing everywhere? You get like force, acceleration, mass, and shit, and then there’s like this newton thing with action and equal reaction that slows shit down.’
‘You use that for every moving object. Doesn’t matter if it moves through a vacuum, air, or water.’
‘But that doesn’t work here!’
‘Speed is not a fucking universal thing!’
‘It’s like stuff is locked in space!’
‘Matter is not interfering with momentum and slowing it down, but actively moving it!’
‘The air is not slowing the thing down! The air is literally moving the thing through it!’
‘What the fuck?!’
‘That’s why the stone suddenly stopped in place when I removed the parts of speed related to wind. The air can’t move it forward anymore, which is why it stops.’
‘Yet, when I use it underwater, it doesn’t give a shit. I can move stuff by using my Wind Ether, but when I suddenly stop using it, the Water Ether will pull it along.’
‘Then, how the fuck does speed work in a vacuum? What if there’s nothing?’
‘Also, gravity’s speed should be ever-present, which is why stuff still keeps falling to the ground.’
Kyle performed a couple more experiments just to confirm his guess.
It was confirmed again and again.
He was actually right.
‘What is this crackhead physics shit?!’
‘Magic Ether moving stuff forward. Should rename physics to psychics.’
Kyle sighed, but then he started to smile.
‘Well, who cares? The important thing is that I have my crackhead theory for our crackhead physics!’
The next moment, Kyle summoned some Wind Ether around him.
‘Now, if I simply use Ether to convert my level zero of speed to level one of speed…’
The next moment, Kyle started to move forward without actually moving any of his limbs.
He looked like a bugged character from a game, just moving around while T-Posing.
‘Now, if I change the trajectory…’
Suddenly, Kyle started to levitate.
He rose higher and higher until he eventually stopped in the middle of the sky.
Then, he just looked around for a while.
‘I can keep this going indefinitely.’
‘Huh, turns out, I can fly now.’
‘And that’s just a small part of what the Fragment of Wind Movement can do.’
‘This thing is really powerful!’
