Chapter 4113: The Blue World

Chapter 4113: The Blue World

The red line continued to shoot past the Immortal, drawing ever closer to Lu Yin.

He turned around and saw the red line, as well as the shock and unwillingness filling Lan Meng’s eyes. What is this Immortal unwilling to accept? Does it want that line? But that line should belong to Obscura, and it should be able to take it quite easily. So why does it seem to crave it so much?

What could stir up such reluctance in an Immortal?

Lu Yin watched the red line as it rushed towards him. One of Lan Meng’s arms had been swallowed by the gate, but the other rose and attacked from across the distance. The Immortal’s arboreal hand splayed wide open as its eight eyes glared straight at Lu Yin. The void started to flow in reverse as the cosmos itself seemed to twist like fabric.

The speed of the red line slowed.

Lu Yin frowned. The more that Lan Meng did not want him to have the red line, the more determined Lu Yin became to seize it. There was also absolutely no chance that he would allow Obscura to take it back without a fight.

He thrust his own hand out with a surge of Lifeforce, sending a terrifyingly powerful attack that produced ripples across the Aevum Inch. The two palms collided above the red line, and Lu Yin was sent staggering backwards. Lan Meng’s hand was stopped, which caused its eight eyes to contort with fury within its skull-like face. “You dare to seize what belongs to Obscura? You are courting death!”

“No, that’s you!” Awe Gate shot out of the gate, piercing through the cosmos as she flew at Lan Meng.

It caught the spear with one hand but were also forced to retreat. Awe Gate stepped through her gate and walked towards the tree-like humanoid. Each step she took caused the void to burn, and the void collapsed around her as countless rifts started to swallow the region and spread in Lan Meng’s direction.

Its eight eyes bulged, though Lan Meng stood firm as Awe Gate stabbed towards them. A blue halo swept past its head from behind and wrapped around the spear in a manner that made it look as though Awe Gate had pierced the blue light.

Awe Gate held her spear tightly, but she could not advance another inch. In front of her, Lan Meng raised its arms. The blue halo spread out, knocking Awe Gate aside before shooting upwards and vanishing.

At that same moment, the red line reached Lu Yin. He hesitated; should he grab it or not?

Unless he somehow stopped it, the red line would undoubtedly make contact with him.

He did not know why it had suddenly shot towards him. Could it be because of the divine energy transformation?

In his transformed state, Lu Yin’s eyes blazed red, and his aura felt violent and overflowing with killing intent. However, he was not controlled by the sense of madness, as his own power far exceeded that of divine energy.

He stared at the red line, hesitating.

Suddenly, the darkness of the Aevum Inch was replaced with blue. Lu Yin looked up, his crimson eyes narrowing sharply. What is this?

Ku Deng, Kang Tian, and Awe Gate all looked up, seeing something that they would never forget.

The endless darkness of the Aevum Inch transformed into a sea of blue, vast and boundless. Everything was dyed in the blue color. While the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm remained outside of its reach, no one could sense where the blue light ended.

Awe Gate and Ku Deng were both Immortals who were capable of surveying the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but neither of them could see the end of the expanse of blue radiance. This meant that it was larger than an entire megaverse. It was possible that only Greater Sancte Green Lotus could truly perceive the range of the blue sea.

This was Lan Meng’s world, a world shaped by a peak powerhouse.

When the blue light appeared, even the light from the Immortal Lord’s green grain stalk retreated a bit.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s calm echoed in all of the humans’ minds, “Be careful. Lan Meng’s strength is no less than Qi Xu’s. Use everything you have to defend.”

All three grew alert.

Even the Immortal snail’s guard was raised. Who could say if Lan Meng would turn against it, no matter how unlikely that might be?

At the same time, Greater Sancte Green Lotus addressed Lu Yin to reassure him; Luo Chan had not teleported the Immortal beast to the Tianyuan. Lu Yin let out a breath of relief.

The sea of blue replaced the darkness of outer space, and from the blue sky, countless blue lights fell down, which landed precisely on Awe Gate, Ku Deng, and Lu Yin, binding them in place.

Awe Gate let out a low cry while releasing the full strength of her Heartrift power. Multiple layers of the blue light collapsed. It looked as if all of the blue light in existence was squeezing down upon her in an attempt to cage her.

Lan Meng did not even glance at Awe Gate. A casual wave of its hand sent blue light tearing through the void to rip through Lu Yin’s body.

He spat out a mouthful of blood. When he looked down, he saw that the blue light had ripped his abdomen open. He was trapped by blue halos, and he also could not even defend himself.

“Human civilization is just one of countless that we’ve destroyed! Many were stronger than yours. Your resistance is meaningless, and yet you dare reach for Obscura’s power? Die!” Lan Meng’s sword fell as it screamed, slashing right at Lu Yin.

Awe Gate and Ku Deng simultaneously released their full strength, attacking the blue halos with surges of Lifeforce. The blue sky shook and started to crack, but neither could quickly free themselves.

Lu Yin released his inner universe. The star of divine energy spun violently, and the divine energy that covered his body shot out, forming a massive hand that struck at Lan Meng’s sword, only to be torn apart. As the blade fell, Lu Yin’s Karmic Dao exploded into a field of lotus flowers, and the resulting lotus pond finally managed to stop Lan Meng’s sword in its tracks.

The lotus pond was split in two, and at that same moment, Awe Gate managed to shatter the blue lights that bound her. She stepped forward, thrusting her spear at Lan Meng.

Simultaneously, the red line was swept up by the red halo that surrounded Lu Yin’s star of divine energy, sinking into that crimson light.

Lan Meng roared in fury, “Spit it back out!”

But before they could do anything, Awe Gate’s spear struck, sending the Immortal staggering backward.

As for Lu Yin, the moment the red line sank into the star of divine energy, the star lurched and began to swell at a shocking rate, expanding far too quickly for him to react. The ring of scarlet energy that circled it also flared violently, and the divine energy drawn into his body surged out of control. His entire being boiled as the crimson power spread like wildfire.

Lu Yin nearly lost himself to the powerful bloodlust that flooded his mind as divine energy inundated his body.

“Hurry! End that state!” Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s voice thundered sharply in Lu Yin’s mind, ringing like a morning bell.

Lu Yin quickly ended his divine energy transformation, but his vision remained blurred, and everything took on a reddish tint. In that crimson realm, he could see countless vague images which seemed to belong to creatures of every manner. He saw a colossal tree stretching above the sky from the ground below, glowing with multicolored light. He saw dark cliffs. Hanging from the branches of the massive tree were rows of floating coffins.

Floating coffins?

Suddenly, Lu Yin snapped back to awareness. The divine energy withdrew into the star, allowing him to fully end the transformation. He instinctively turned his attention to the star, looking for the red line.

“Watch out!” a shouted warning rang in his ears.

Lu Yin looked up, only to see that blue lights were once again descending from the sky.

He tried to dodge them, but before the lights could fully descend, Lan Meng was driven back by Awe Gate. It glared at Lu Yin in open frustration. “You’ve taken something that you shouldn’t have! You will die miserably for that.”

Lu Yin clenched a fist. “Save your breath.”

He threw a punch, his terrifying strength growing with a burst of Lifeforce. He was not trying to overpower Lan Meng, but rather simply help Awe Gate by forcing the enemy Immortal off balance.

Lan Meng’s eight eyes flared with fury as it retreated further and further. Lu Yin was not powerful enough to pose an actual threat, but he was more than powerful enough to stand on a battlefield with Immortals, which made him a problem.

This was what was known as an Aberrant throughout the Aevum Inch.

The Immortal retreated farther and farther, the void shattering with each step. In their wake, the cosmos seemed to flow in reverse as Awe Gate opened countless gates. She flickered around her opponent, stabbing at them from every direction.

Lu Yin pointed upwards, bringing out a Heaven and Earth Lock to restrain Lan Meng. His bloodstained clothes fluttered violently, creating an image that was both tragic and defiant.

Lan Meng’s skull-like face twisted into a gruesome smile as it lifted the long blue sword, only to then let go of the weapon.

The blue sword slowly fell down, the blade sinking into the void as though swallowed by an unseen layer of reality that lay hidden within the cosmos.

Seeing this caused Lu Yin’s vision to blur for an instant as images flashed by. This sword technique looked so familiar. Lan Meng knew the technique, and so had Qi Xu. This is...

Sword Planting?

“Senior Awe Gate, get back!” Lu Yin shouted sharply. Behind him, countless streaks of Tri-Azure Sword Intent shot forth, forming a rain of slashes that cut through the void.

Lan Meng sneered as its blue sword vanished entirely. Streaks of blue light appeared throughout the void, each one forming a sword that then shot towards Awe Gate, Ku Deng, Lu Yin, and even the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

Each blue sword was incredibly powerful, as though they were perfect replicas of Lan Meng’s own sword.

Awe Gate stared in shock as dozens of blue swords rushed toward her. How is this possible?

Every single sword had the same power of Lan Meng personally attacking. How was it able to unleash so many devastating slashes at once?

Awe Gate parried one sword, but she could not parry the second. The second was blocked, but that allowed the third to slip through.

The first two swords were swept aside or blocked, but the third stabbed into her arm. The fourth and fifth quickly followed as the relentless assault continued. While Awe Gate tried to dodge, it seemed that her entire surrounding was filled with nothing but blue swords.

At that moment, more sword attacks appeared. These ones were not blue, but rather the waves of the Tri-Azure Sword Intent.

Lu Yin had not targeted Lan Meng. Doing so would have been useless. Instead, Lu Yin’s attacks were aimed at Awe Gate, Ku Deng, and even at himself.

As the Tri-Azure Sword Intent fell like rain, Awe Gate looked up. She realized that Lu Yin’s attacks posed no harm to her, despite the various slashes being empowered with Immortal matter. Instead, the Tri-Azure Sword Intent clashed against the blue swords, sacrificing themselves like moths to the flame. Each of Lu Yin’s slashes was shattered, but every blue sword was momentarily stalled. That bought Awe Gate just enough time to deflect the remaining approaching attacks.

The same thing happened on Ku Deng’s side. However, before the Tri-Azure Sword Intents fell, he was struck by several blue swords, and he barely avoided grave injuries.

Lu Yin was actually the one who suffered the worst. The blue swords sliced through his Lifeforce and ripped his flesh open. However, Lightstream constantly flickered, reversing his time by one second, which caused all of the attacks to harmlessly pass through empty space. When combined with the Tri-Azure Sword Intent that swirled around him, he narrowly managed to avoid death.

Far fewer blue swords had targeted Lu Yin than Awe Gate or Ku Deng, and Lu Yin also understood Lan Meng’s technique.

The Obscura Immortal could scarcely believe its eyes. None of its swords had managed to inflict serious harm. Lan Meng stared at Lu Yin in utter disbelief. It was him. That human attacked the moment I released my technique, directing all of his sword intent not at me, but at the two human Immortals.

It had looked like Lu Yin had attacked, but he had actually been saving his allies.

He understood Lan Meng’s sword technique.

If he had not managed to act swiftly enough, it would have been impossible to save anyone.

But how can he know it? Could it be because of the red line?

Lan Meng gnashed its teeth and charged at Lu Yin, determined to capture him. Lu Yin’s body withered. He had already activated Extremes Must Be Reversed when Lan Meng released its sword attack, and he had endured the backlash of overusing so much Immortal matter the entire time. As Lan Meng closed in, the Tri-Azure Sword Intent spun behind Lu Yin before slashing forward.

This was his strongest attack: a Tri-Azure Sword Intent fused with 10,000 motes of Immortal matter.

Unfortunately, he had had no time to return the attack to the Investiture of the Gods. If he had stored it within the record first, he could have drawn upon that reservoir of consciousness to unleash a much heavier strike against Lan Meng. Even if it still failed to wound the Immortal, it would have at least created an opening for Awe Gate to manifest her counterattack.
