Chapter 3850: Breakthrough

One day, the river suddenly stopped flowing.

The women who were washing clothes along the river were startled by the sudden change and started muttering amongst themselves. The river had never stopped flowing throughout all of recorded history. Ordinary humans were unable to find either its source or its end.

The sudden stillness made people uneasy.

After that, the wind suddenly changed as well. The sky remained clear, but people started to feel a bit light-headed. Were the clouds drifting faster? Was the sun falling more quickly? Fish happily leapt from the surface of the water.

In the city, smoke rose into the sky from some fireworks. Despite the wind being quite strong, it could not disperse the thick plumes.

In the forest, cultivators opened their eyes one after another. They stepped out to look around. Something had changed. Oddly enough, everything at this moment seemed perfectly clear.

It was as if their vision had been impaired, only for the impairment to be suddenly removed.

And yet, the sky was the same sky as before, and the ground was still the same as ever.

From cities to forests to mountain ranges, even as far as the distant Sixth Night Pillar, cultivators of all levels experienced the same sensation: a veil that had previously obscured their perception of the universe had been removed.

Despite that, they still saw the same universe as before.

"A breakthrough to the Origin realm?" Liu Li exclaimed in surprise.

Jian Hong arrived nearby, tightly clenching the hilt of his sword. "This feels like when someone breaks through to the Origin realm, but why can we feel it?"

Another cultivator approached from the distance, and the Ortuser was similarly astonished. "You can feel it too? This is clearly an Origin realm breakthrough, and yet this experience should only be felt by the person attempting the breakthrough. Others should feel nothing but pressure. How is it that we can feel this? Whose breakthrough could possibly affect all of us? This should be impossible."

Liu Li frowned. "It is impossible. For us to feel it, the cultivator must possess unimaginable combat strength, but how could anyone this strong only be in the Origin realm? Could there be a sequence powerhouse that’s actually stronger than us Dukkhans and Ortusers?"

Those who heard the woman were skeptical.

It was practically impossible for a mere sequence powerhouse to overpower an Ortuser, though the peerless geniuses in the Scion Spire could probably manage to accomplish such a feat. They gradually cultivated, moving through each realm carefully. It also might be possible for those geniuses to surpass Dukkhans. After all, there were some Ortusers whose combat power matched Dukkhans. However, for such a genius to surpass a peak Dukkhan like Liu Li? That was simply impossible.

Peak Dukkhans existed on an entirely different level than all other Dukkhans.

Who could possibly do such a thing?

That question caused all of them to suddenly think of Lu Yin, only for them to immediately dismiss the thought. No matter how he appeared or presented himself, it was clear to all who had met him that Lu Yin was a peak Dukkhan. How could he possibly be attempting to break through to the Origin Realm?

To enter the Origin realm, it was first necessary to expose the True Void and inhale the primordial energy. After that, they would have to endure the violent backlash of sequence particles and suppress the laws of the universe. Only after that could a cultivator achieve the state of being untouchable by the laws of the universe, which defined an Ortuser.

That was the process, and the result was a feeling of clarity that was brought about by inhaling the True Void.

That clarity could only be experienced by the one experiencing the breakthrough. No one had ever heard of someone’s breakthrough allowing others to experience the same sensation. It was as if the entire universe had been replaced by the primordial universe, reversing time and space. Such a thing should have been impossible.

Despite the impossibility of the situation, the sensation persisted and spread. It moved from the Sixth Night Pillar’s surroundings to envelop the entire East Domain.

In the Sea of Karma, Greater Sancte Green Lotus was surprised. “It has spread across quite a vast area. He’s not being stingy at all.”

Awe Gate’s voice rang out. “If a sequence powerhouse were to use this opportunity and inhale the True Void, it wouldn’t be impossible for them to break through to the Origin realm, provided that they can survive the backlash.”

Blood Tower also spoke up, “This benefits cultivators, but it offers even greater benefits to ordinary people. Just this alone can cure many of all their ailments. It appears that the child doesn’t harbor much enmity toward our Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”

Awe Gate replied, “It’s not that he lacks enmity, but rather that he’s transcended it.”

Blood Tower let out a sigh of admiration. “Only one who has reached the transcendent level of an Immortal can adopt the perspective of the entire cosmos, rather than being wrapped up in temporary gains and losses.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus chuckled. “You give him too much credit. If he truly saw things from our perspective, why would he care so much about the Tianyuan Megaverse?”

“Truthfully, we are the ones who have become too ruthless.”

“Living too long will do that. It makes you indifferent to everything.”

“As he is now... it’s good.”

“You’re no longer worried about him being consumed by his desires, are you?” Greater Sancte Green Lotus calmly asked.

Awe Gate replied, “The desire of love is something he should still have. Qing Yun is a girl and will need to marry someone, after all.”

Blood Tower grumbled, “Stop dragging your family drama into everything!”

Awe Gate responded with a cold snort.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus peered down. “I’m curious... just how much will a mere breakthrough to the Origin realm really let him transform?”

“Everyone experiences different amounts of growth after a breakthrough, but he already stands at the peak. He has both the power of Word Manifestation and karma, not to mention the fact that he can use Immortal matter. He is practically half a step in the Immortal realm already. He’s already the fourth most powerful individual in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. What more could you want?”

“Don’t be so sure. Just watch.”

In the East Domain, Lu Yin looked up at the sky from a bamboo raft that was floating down a river. Voices called out to him from all directions.

“Sir! I wrote this character. Could you please take a look at it?”

“Greetings, honored sir. This is a character I wrote, as well as a small gift. Please have a look.”

“May I ask where you cultivated before, sir? The South Domain’s Hong family would like to offer you a position as an elder...”

Lu Yin just showed a faint smile. For ten years, he had been on a journey of the heart. It was a short amount of time, but it was enough for the time being. Next time, he might attempt to enter Dukkha. He also might decide to not read any more fortunes unless he received some new insights.

He shifted his gaze and looked around. “While we were fated to meet, our destinies are not intertwined. Please go back. If you are here the next time my raft heads out, it might be that we share fate.”

One person immediately grew anxious. “Sir, I’m from the South Domain’s Hong family! Surely you’ve heard of us...”

Before the man could even finish speaking, Lu Yin had taken a step and vanished. When he next appeared, he was already high in the sky. He raised a hand and flicked a finger, causing ripples to spread through the void.

His eyes shone brightly as he began writing with his index finger. The universe trembled and let out loud rumbles. It sounded as though it was celebrating.

All the regions of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, the East Domain, South Domain, West Domain, North Domain, central region, and even the Mother Tree itself, started shaking. Countless creatures looked up at the sky, wondering what could cause such a commotion.

After that, one character after another streaked across the sky and fell into the four regions of the Temporal Heavens.

Some people tried to grab the falling characters, only for the falling objects to pass right through their bodies. As the characters struck the ground, images started to appear.

One character, Force (势), fell outside of the Four Commands Sword Sect in the East Domain. Sword intent channeled through the entire region and shot into the sky, but it could not harm a single character. As the character sank into the earth, a series of images played out: it was Lu Yin rising to power as the master of the Outerverse and Innerverse. He fought across the universe, united a fragmented civilization, and then ultimately founded the Heavens Sect and became the ruler of the entire Tianyuan Megaverse...

Lu Sizhan and countless others from the Four Commands Sword Sect stared on. It’s him?

Another character, War (战), fell into the South Domain, landing beneath the Qiunan clan with a blast of wind. As wind surged and clouds scattered, the rhythmic beating of war drums surprisingly rang out. Images of the great war between Ironblood Weave and the Astral Beast Domain appeared. Humans could be seen bleeding across the battlefield. The war that had engulfed Blazing Mist Flowzone spread like flames across outer space. Then, the war with the Three Monarchs Universe appeared, followed by the five Scourges. Each image of battle was carried on the echoing drums across the entire South Domain.

The Vengeance (仇) character fell into the West Domain’s Skyveil City. Countless cultivators there were studying the art of lockbreaking, and they watched as a document with the Lu surname appeared and then seventy-two lives were claimed. The great battle that had been fought on Nightking Planet played out, and they saw Lu Yin trampling Xia Ji underfoot, as well as his relentless war against the Aeternals.

Inside Skyveil City, Cheng Gong’s pupils shrank, and his face went pale. It’s him! Is he only breaking through now? Only now?

The Human (人) character landed outside of Deathmound in the North Domain. Countless eyes peered out from the Three Mountains and Seven Peaks, and they saw Lu Yin’s statue that stood tall in the Tianyuan Megaverse. They saw people calling out Lu Yin’s name, praying to him and worshiping him. They saw him fighting to protect his home megaverse, bathing in blood as he fought to the bitter end.

Chao Yi was stunned. Him?

An Affection (情) character fell near the Fourth Night Pillar, and the people there saw Big Sis, Leon’s Armada, the Astral Combat Academy, Lu Yin learning as Mister Mu’s disciple, the Lu family’s return, and his first meeting with Ming Yan. It was the stirrings of a young heart.

A Time (时) character brought forth scenes of the River of Aeons.

A Space (间) character revealed threads of spatial power.

A Remembrance (念) character revealed the Tower of the Fifth and the monument that eternally recorded the names of fallen heroes.

A Guard (守) character showed how the Tianyuan Megaverse had been protected.

A Hope (望) character brought about scenes of the universe and its stars remaining unchanging despite the passing of time.

A Smile (笑) character...

A Tribulation (难) character...

Character after character rained down upon the Nine Odysseys Megaverse like a meteor shower, each one striking a different place in the megaverse.

Someone sternly shouted, “How insolent! How dare a mere Origin realm breakthrough disturb the universe!”

As the man moved to attack, his hand froze midway before instantly recoiling. He did not dare to take any further action. The moment he had started to lash out, he had been overwhelmed by a sense of impending doom. He was clearly a peak Dukkhan, so who could terrify him so badly?

He had felt the approach of certain death.

This was clearly nothing more than someone breaking through to the Origin realm, so how could it be such a massive disturbance? How could the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse be forced to witness a person’s life? What gave him that right? Who was he?

He could not be from any megaverse that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse knew or had encountered before.

In the North Domain, Lang Ruyu and Si Jiushi watched the scenes unfold with bitter expressions. “Why is it him again?”

“We even escaped to the North Domain, and yet he still haunts us. Nephew, just how did you offend this man?”

“I didn’t, Uncle. I honestly didn’t offend him. I was just a signpost.”

In the East Domain’s Everchange Valley, Ming Xiaolong, Ming Xiaochou, and the others were all stunned. Wan Lou’s face grew pale as he stared at the distant scenes in disbelief. “The Origin realm...? He’s only now entering the Origin realm? How is that possible? How could such a creature exist?”

Elder Le swallowed hard. When he had first met Lu Yin in the Four Commands Sword Sect, Elder Le had already realized that Lu Yin was powerful, but the old man had never imagined that Lu Yin would singlehandedly destroy the Autumnspring Slip. But after all that, the man was only now undergoing his Origin realm breakthrough? Was he really a sequence powerhouse before? No, could he have not even been that?

Inconceivable. Absolutely inconceivable.
