Chapter 3781: Inexplicable

Lu Yin understood perfectly. This man was Greater Sancte Green Lotus. How much luck and talent were needed to become an Immortal’s disciple? Losing such an opportunity would be a lifelong regret. However, had Lu Yin misheard that the Greater Sancte only had a few disciples? It seemed that one of them was even in cryostasis in the Scion Spire. In that case, what was the situation with these women?

The Sea of Karma was unquestionably Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s domain.

This was a place that countless people throughout the Nine Odysseys Megaverse dreamed of entering, and yet Lu Yin had no idea how he had entered it. Could it really be that easy? Something about the situation felt off.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus praised Lu Yin. “Your strength must be quite impressive for you to enter this megaverse without passing through the Skyward Gate; that shows ability. You happened to arrive in my Sea of Karma, which means there is karmic affinity.. I cultivate karma, and I highly value the concept of fate. Your fate is connected to the Sea of Karma, as well as to me. Your fate is also connected to my disciples’.

“Since that is the case, you shall marry them.”

A breeze passed, stirring ripples across the pond.

Lu Yin was struck dumb.

Even if their true forms could not be seen, it was clear that the seven spirit seeds were equally taken aback.

What sort of logic was this? If it was fate that Lu Yin had entered the Sea of Karma, he was also fated to marry them? Could this even be real?

The atmosphere grew eerily silent.

After the gust of wind passed, Lu Yin swallowed nervously. “Um, what was that just now? I- I was unable to catch what you just said.”

Greater Sanctis Green Lotus smiled as he looked at Lu Yin. “Life is small, while reputation is everything. In the Nine Odysseys, reputation outweighs even the heavens. Since you’ve seen them bathing, I’ll spare your life for the sake of your karmic affinity, but you’ll have to marry them. Otherwise, how could they continue living with dignity?”

Lu Yin glanced at the seven spirit seeds, which all trembled violently. It was clear that they were emotionally overwhelmed by what they had heard, but due to their tremendous respect for Greater Sancte Green Lotus, no one dared to utter so much as a word of protest. Lu Yin could empathize with how deeply humiliated the women must feel.

At the same time, Lu Yin found the entire situation to be absurd.

He was nothing more than a visitor from the Tianyuan Megaverse, and he had even entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse without any good intentions. There was likely no random faction in the entire megaverse which would look favorably upon him, and yet he was suddenly being ordered to marry seven women.

Even if Lu Yin had never seen the women’s faces or had any idea of their backgrounds, just the fact that they had been accepted as Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciples meant that they were extraordinary individuals. On top of that, they had attacked the instant that he had appeared, revealing power that was undoubtedly impressive for their ages. At the very least, they had prevented Lu Yin from catching so much as a glimpse of their figures despite being surprised by his sudden appearance. That was no small feat.

Such women should be peerless, regarded as heavenly beauties throughout the megaverse. So why was Lu Yin being ordered to marry all of them?

Throughout his many years of cultivation, Lu Yin had never encountered anything quite so absurd.

After Lu Yin remained frozen in place for a bit, he started to feel as though sharp needles were stabbing into his back. All seven of the women were glaring at him with cold eyes. While none of them dared to argue with Greater Sancte Green Lotus, they were more than willing to fix their glares onto Lu Yin. He could guess what they were thinking at this moment; there was no doubt that they were silently cursing him, possibly even plotting his death.

This was a true calamity falling from the heavens.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus smiled at Lu Yin. “Do not feel offended. No matter if it is their appearances or their backgrounds, they will surely be able to satisfy you.”

The chill he felt grew even more intense. Lu Yin glanced at the seven spirit seeds and, with a growing sense of bitterness, offered a deep bow. “Please forgive me, Senior, but I am unable to marry them, given that I already have a wife.”

The chill grew slightly weaker, and Greater Sancte Green Lotus praised Lu Yin, “For your heart to remain true to your wife is quite admirable.”

Lu Yin let out a breath of relief.

“Which is precisely why I can be confident in entrusting these ones to you.”

Lu Yin’s eye twitched as the chill he felt grew stronger once more. He quickly said, “Senior, isn’t this a bit too casual? I can also promise that I absolutely did not watch them bathe. I was simply flung here by accident.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus sighed. “Do you look down on them?”

“That is definitely not what I meant.”

“It’s true. Given your strength, they might indeed be poor matches for you.”

“Senior, I honestly did not mean to suggest that, I promise.” Lu Yin could not understand the situation. Greater Sancte Green Lotus seemed very stubborn, but what was the man thinking? Not only had Lu Yin sneaked into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse without permission, but he also intended to cause trouble for the megaverse. Despite that, Green Lotus wanted Lu Yin to marry his disciples. Come to think of it, my unexplainable arrival in the Sea of Karma... could it be linked to him?

Lu Yin suddenly looked at Greater Sancte Green Lotus with a great deal of suspicion.

The man glanced at the seven spirit seeds with a hint of helplessness on his face. “You’ve followed me for quite some time. I’ve wanted to find each of you a good match, which is also what your elders wish to see. Alas, the best candidate that I’ve found has no interest in you. I can do nothing about that. It’s impossible to force a person’s feelings.”

Lu Yin was speechless. Senior, are you even listening to me?

The seven spirit seeds remained silent. Like Lu Yin, they were completely confused. The Greater Sancte’s actions made no sense to anyone.

Green Lotus’s attention returned to Lu Yin. Finally, the man’s tone of voice changed, and a deep chill entered his voice. “Lu Yin, you trespassed into the Sea of Karma and have tarnished the reputation of my disciples. Now, you even refuse to take responsibility. Do you understand the consequences of all this?”

Lu Yin offered another deep bow. “Please judge wisely, Senior. I truly saw nothing.”

“This is the Sea of Karma.” A majestic voice filled the area. The sky started to collapse, and stars were thrown from their orbits. Amidst the shifting winds and changing sky, Lu Yin nearly lost consciousness from the overwhelming pressure. His face grew pale as infinite karma crashed down upon him like a falling sky. The pressure threatened to crush him, the terrifying power freezing even his breath. He felt as though the universe was about to grind him to dust.

He dropped to one knee, and his right hand pressed against the ground. His eyes trembled, and beads of sweat fell from his brow, splashing onto the ground.

He could not move. He was unable to even twitch a muscle. His physical strength, his consciousness, his power of karma—none of it mattered. He could do nothing.

When he had faced the Immortal beast, he had still been able to fight back with brute strength, and he had even repelled the monster with the Tri-Azure Sword Intent. Lu Yin had also managed to fight back against Master Qing Cao. However, he was suddenly overcome with utter helplessness. Every last bit of his strength had been stripped away. The fact that he had not completely collapsed already pushed him to his limits.

This was the power of Greater Sancte Green Lotus. His karma overshadowed the sky and the ground below, serving as the law that governed all. This was the true power of Green Lotus.

It was only at this moment that Lu Yin truly understood the terror of an Immortal powerhouse, as well as just how laughable his earlier assumptions regarding the power of an Immortal had been.

There was a fundamental difference in the nature of life itself, which resulted in a difference in how one perceived and controlled the universe. Simply possessing Immortal matter was far from enough. Lu Yin was not qualified to even move.

After a brief bit of time, the pressure vanished once again.

Lu Yin remained down on one knee, breathing heavily as he stared at the ground.

The ground had become entirely soaked, solely from his sweat.

“This is the Sea of Karma. Do you hear me?” Greater Sancte Green Lotus asked again.

Lu Yin swallowed hard and slowly rose to his feet. The creaking in his bones proved that the pressure that he had just suffered was not an illusion; he had quite literally almost been crushed to pieces.

Lifting his head, Lu Yin looked at Greater Sancte Green Lotus and met the man’s gaze. Lu Yin’s lips were dry, his face was pale and completely bloodless, but he still forced himself to slowly bow. “This junior heard.”

Green Lotus calmly asked, “In that case, how do you suggest that we resolve this matter?”

Lu Yin answered in a low voice, “I leave that decision to you, Senior.”

Green Lotus showed a small smile. “Then I say that you shall marry them.”

The seven spirit seeds trembled, their gazes locked onto Lu Yin. They all understood the indescribable pressure that he had just endured. They themselves had once endured the same pressure, and it had left them forever traumatized by the Immortal.

It was the pressure of the universe itself.

This man would not dare to refuse the Greater Sancte again.

“Please forgive me, Senior, but I already have a wife.” Lu Yin bowed low. He did not want to die. He wanted to live and fight for the Tianyuan’s future. He wanted to return home and step onto Boundless again. He wanted to eventually rescue Yan’er and keep her safe so that they could live out the rest of their lives together. There were so many things that Lu Yin still wanted to accomplish. Accepting Green Lotus’s decree would certainly guarantee Lu Yin’s survival, and it would even grant him a comfortable life, and yet he still refused. There was no rational analysis behind it, no strategy. It was nothing more than a pure, heartfelt rejection. Lu Yin would honor his true feelings and honor the love that he shared with Yan’er.

Love... He had wronged more than one woman over the years, and yet he had refused to make any promises to them. There was no way that he would marry strangers he did not even know.

So long as a person lived, there would always be breath. That breath sustained their conviction. Like a bridge, it connected the past to the future to serve as a spine that would never bend.

None of the seven women had expected Lu Yin to refuse a second time. He still dared to say no even after experiencing the pressure of an Immortal?

The women all turned to stare at Lu Yin, suddenly feeling as if they were only now truly seeing him.

Despite bowing to Green Lotus, the man before them suddenly appeared remarkably tall.

“You still refuse?” Green Lotus asked.

Lu Yin solemnly replied, “I do.”

“You won’t regret this?”

“Absolutely not.”

“If you marry them, you’ll be considered halfway my disciple. You will be welcomed everywhere in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. I will release an announcement to the entire megaverse, ensuring that your status becomes extremely prestigious. Even so, are you certain that you won’t regret this?”

Lu Yin did not hesitate. “Not one bit.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus stared at Lu Yin for a long moment, and then he turned to face the seven spirit seeds. He let out a sigh. “There’s truly nothing more that I can do for you. Even after laying bare all of my dignity, I still can’t help you. Don’t blame me if you are unable to ever get married.”

Eight people stared at the Greater Sancte in stunned silence.

“You trespassed into the Sea of Karma and committed such a despicable act, and yet you still refuse to accept the consequences. Allowing you to leave this place unpunished would defy all reason.” As he faced Lu Yin, Green Lotus continued to speak. “Here’s what I suggest: you will fulfill one task for each of these seven women, and then this matter will be considered closed. What do you say?”

Lu Yin happily replied, “Senior, do you really mean it?”

“Do you think I need to lie to you?” Green Lotus retorted, clearly displeased.

Lu Yin bowed again. “I meant no such disrespect. Thank you very much, Senior.”

Green Lotus smiled. “You thank me? Why? Do you think that they will ask you to fulfill easy tasks?”

He turned to the seven spirit seeds. “See that? He looks down on you, yet he still thanked you for letting him help fulfill your tasks.”

“Master, may we speak?” one woman softly asked in a very hesitant, cautious tone.

“You may. Go ahead.”

“Little thief, did you really not see anything?”

Lu Yin quickly tried to reassure the woman. “I honestly saw nothing at all.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“I don’t believe him either! I heard a scream. Maybe he felt something? Which sister did he touch? That sounded like Fifth Sister’s scream.”

“You little brat! Do you want to die? That wasn’t me! Shut up!”

“Was it Second Sister?”

“Of course it wasn’t me! Stop talking!”

“Enough! You’re embarrassing yourselves.”

“Hateful little thief...”

Lu Yin was left speechless. Their endless bickering was giving him a headache.

He instinctively glanced at his hand, feeling a bit uneasy.

Still, these seven were only externally cultivated spirit seeds, not the women’s true bodies.

“All right, enough,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus said. Instantly, the area fell silent.
