Chapter 3746: Backup Plan
Chapter 3746: Backup Plan
Yanbo Shu soon returned and looked up the cliff. “Lord Yue Ya has agreed. He has sworn in his name that he will never again threaten you with the Tianyuan Megaverse.”
Lu Yin nodded before looking over at the High Seraph. “Take us down. That’s also what you want right now.”
The Origin Progenitor sighed. If they left the clifftop and the High Seraph was left there alone, no one would know if he succeeded and reached the palace.
Regardless, the High Seraph was their enemy, and if he did obtain the memories of an Immortal, he would become completely uncontrollable in the future.
Unfortunately, Lu Yin could no longer restrain the man.
Even if he and the Origin Progenitor managed to work together and force the High Seraph down the cliff, as soon as Yue Ya attacked Lu Yin, the High Seraph would simply return to the clifftop. No one would be able to stop him at that point in time.
There was also no point in fighting against the High Seraph without cause.
The moment the High Seraph had found Lu Yin and proposed his terms to enter the Willbound Spire together, Lu Yin had already anticipated this outcome. It was the outcome that was most advantageous to the High Seraph, and it had been part of his plans all along.
But Lu Yin could not refuse Yue Ya, and he also had not been able to refuse to work with the High Seraph to try to approach the palace.
Lu Yin’s goal had been to reach the palace before being found by Yue Ya. Unfortunately, he had not been able to do that.
As for leaving the Origin Progenitor atop the cliff, that was also impossible. Only by cooperating with Lu Yin could the Origin Progenitor match the High Seraph. Alone, the Origin Progenitor would be in grave danger.
The Origin Progenitor was not Yong Heng, and he had sacrificed countless years to suppress the sequence strings. Not even the Nine Heavens Transformation could fully compensate for those lost years. On top of that, the man would never allow Lu Yin to face the deadly situation outside on his own. Together, they stood a much greater chance of success.
The High Seraph waved a hand, and the dazzling light of Everlasting Will illuminated the cliff.
Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor were carried to the bottom of the cliff by spirit threads and Everlasting Will.
Yanbo Shu’s eyes were blazing as he exited the Willbound Spire. Their target had finally descended from the clifftop. All that remained now was for Lord Yue Ya to undergo his transformation. Once that happened, his Ruler Garden would transform, and they would rise up to stand above countless other powers to become one of the greatest forces in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. This would be their greatest change in status since their founding, and for the Ruler Garden’s sake, Yue Ya had to succeed.
Emperor Slayer also wanted to leave the Willbound Spire, but he had been forbidden from doing so. Before leaving, Yanbo Shu had ordered Emperor Slayer to keep an eye on the High Seraph from the bottom of the cliff.
The beast did not even know if he would survive long enough to keep an eye on the High Seraph. Lu Yin was descending from the clifftop, and if Lu Yin attacked, Emperor Slayer would be done for.
From above the cliff, the High Seraph watched as Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor descended. He was not happy, and he actually felt inexplicably nervous. From what he knew of Lu Yin, how would the man ever be willing to allow the High Seraph to stay above the cliff where he could approach the palace unhindered? It was simply impossible. Even if Lu Yin were to walk into a death trap, he still would not allow the High Seraph to so easily distance himself from the matter.
But the High Seraph also could not imagine any way for Lu Yin to find a way to deal with both Yue Ya’s death trap and prevent the High Seraph from reaching the palace atop the cliff in the Willbound Spire.
It was impossible to accomplish both goals.
Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor landed on the ground beneath the cliff and looked at Emperor Slayer in unison.
The beast offered the two men a broad grin. “Thank you both for all your efforts. Um... Third Boss, I...”
“What ‘Third Boss?’ Only a single toad follows me,” Lu Yin coldly retorted.
Emperor Slayer instantly offered up more flattery. “Third Boss, how can you say that? Who isn’t under your command? Even if you ignore everyone else, that toad alone is unparalleled in the megaverse. One day, he will become the toad that I once saw! That toad was so-”
Lu Yin interrupted the beast, “Shut up.”
Emperor Slayer’s mouth snapped shut, and he did not dare to say another word.
“Where were you planning on running to after escaping from the Consciousness Megaverse?” Lu Yin demanded.
Emperor Slayer blinked. “The Spirit Nidus.”
Lu Yin raised his hand while curling his fingers into a fist tight enough to produce cracking sounds. “What was that?”
Emperor Slayer bitterly muttered, “The Tianyuan Megaverse...”
“Exactly. You can’t go back to the Spirit Nidus or stay in the Consciousness Megaverse, which means that your only choice is the Tianyuan,” Lu Yin agreed.
Emperor Slayer hastily tried to reassure Lu Yin. “Third Boss, I had no ulterior motives in going to the Tianyuan Megaverse, absolutely none! I just need a place to hide. Unlike those bastard Thirteen Luminaries, I’m a man of virtue! I have moral character!”
“Help me look after that megaverse, and when I return, I’ll be sure to thank you properly,” Lu Yin said as he smiled at Emperor Slayer.
It was true that Emperor Slayer was different from the Thirteen Luminaries. While the beast was foul-tempered, he had never done anything truly evil. He had become an eight-spirit criminal in the Spirit Nidus solely from antagonizing the Primal Beastland and Ascendant Hall. He was simply foul-mouthed and rude, but he lacked a truly wicked nature. Even during the battle at the Umbral Deep, Emperor Slay had only wanted to drive Lu Yin away, not actually attack him.
Lu Yin had specifically investigated Emperor Slayer, and that was why he felt comfortable sending the beast to the Tianyuan Megaverse.
Of course, it was not easy to forget what had happened in Beacon City. If Emperor Slayer truly went to the Tianyuan, then by the time Lu Yin returned, he might find “Virtue” banners flying over the Heavens Sect’s main hall.
Lu Yin was still nervous about what he had seen from the meteorite. He had no idea where that being might have gone, and he could only hope that they had not gone to the Tianyuan.
With Emperor Slayer there, Lu Yin would be a bit more at ease, though only a little.
In terms of combat strength, Emperor Slayer seemed to be about as strong as the currently weakened Mister Mu. That made the beast an incredible powerhouse.
Emperor Slayer stared blankly as Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor both disappeared, and then the fawning smile slowly faded from his face.
Help them look after the Tianyuan Megaverse? Those two... their morals aren’t actually too bad, even if they’re not as good as me. What a pity.
The first to exit the Willbound Spire was neither Lu Yin nor the Origin Progenitor, but rather Yi He.
Yi He had once ranked tenth on the Spirit Nidus’s White Spirit List, and he had a long-standing grudge against the Hundred Leaf Trade Association. He had stayed near the Hundred Grasses Domain for years, which had led to the trade association to fall as the final members had been too afraid to leave.
When Lu Yin had taken over the Hundred Leaf Trade Association and led them to become an official trade association, Lu Yin had encountered Yi He after just barely leaving the Hundred Grasses Domain. At that moment, Lu Yin had imprisoned Yi He in the Champions’ Stage Purgatory.
Yi He had never imagined that he would be given the chance to walk free again.
After being released by Lu Yin, Yi He had immediately appeared at the entrance of the Willbound Spire, where he was greeted by a fierce barrage of consciousness.
Yi He did not even have time to react before he collapsed.
Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor then stepped forward, both undergoing the Nine Heavens Transformation and allowing their powerful consciousnesses to sweep through the area as they charged away in two different directions.
Dark-gold manifested thought fell as the Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art pressed down upon Lu Yin. At the same time, the claws from Yanbo Hongli’s Wildcat’s Aid inexplicably appeared without any trace and attacked.
Lu Yin was prepared. Wielder-realm battle force shrouded his body as it withered, and both a flurry of Epoch Blades and the Tomb of Mountains and Streams were unleashed in all directions in a frenzied attack, though Lu Yin did not even glance around.
Countless Epoch Blades lashed out, each carrying the destructive power of powerful Dukkhan. These blades cooperated with the defensive force of the Tomb of Mountains and Streams and the extensive Six Ancient Spirit Array to briefly repel the manifested thought, consciousness, and even battle techniques that were all attacking Lu Yin.
The Origin Progenitor’s weapons from his Verdant Arsenal all attacked Yanbo Haomiao in unison.
Yanbo Haomiao used the Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art to directly defend himself from the Verdant Arsenal.
Lu Yin stepped forward at the speed of time. While he was bleeding from the claws of the Wildcat’s Aid, he quickly recovered with the use of Extremes Must Be Reversed.
Old Chief bellowed as his Heaven and Earth Lock fell, sealing all senses. Columns of consciousness shot into the sky of the Willbound Expanse, as the same trap as had once been prepared for the High Seraph was redeployed.
Lu Yin stared up at the Heavens and Earth Lock. There was nowhere to flee.
While Lu Yin’s consciousness was indeed stronger than the High Seraph’s, the High Seraph possessed the Everstone sequence base, which meant that the trap was just as grave a threat to both men.
The key difference was that Lu Yin had already learned the Heaven and Earth Lock, and he knew it just as well as Old Chief.
Yue Ya watched as Lu Yin fell into the trap and brought out the mirebound belt artifact. He only had one chance. So long as Lu Yin could not break free, Yue Ya would use the belt to capture the man. This was the entire purpose of this trap.
Lu Yin used Lightstream to reverse time by one second, but Yue Ya used his manifested thought to briefly freeze Lu Yin’s mind.
The basis of the entire plan was that Lu Yin could be controlled by Yue Ya.
He had waited far too long for this moment.
Powerful consciousness descended from every direction as the Heaven and Earth Lock sealed away all senses.
Yue Ya stared intensely. It was nearly time, so close now.
At the very moment that the Heaven and Earth Lock fell, Lu Yin looked up. His inner universe was released, and his Karmic Dao spread out as spirals of karma shot towards Yue Ya and Old Chief.
Even though Yue Ya and the others could not see the spirals of karma, they could still sense them, and therefore, they hastily evaded. This was Lu Yin’s final struggle.
The spirals of karma had not really been aimed at either Yue Ya or Old Chief, but rather at the Willbound Spire itself.
A wall of karma blocked the entrance of the Willbound Spire, and it had been put there by Greater Sancte Green Lotus himself.
Only karma could touch the power of karma.
Lu Yin’s Karmic Dao spirals created tornadoes that struck the entrance of the Willbound Spire with a terrifying impact.
At that instant, the universe moved, and an indescribable sense of crisis appeared, horrifying both Yue Ya and Old Chief.
Lu Yin alone could see that the wall of karma blocking the Willbound Spire was shaking. It was nothing more than a wall, and it could not come close to embodying Green Lotus’s power of karma, and yet it was still able to bring out a sense of the Greater Sancte’s presence.
As soon as the wall of karma started trembling, the Willbound Spire, the Willbound Expanse, and even the entire Consciousness Megaverse started to sway.
The walls of karma that stood in the Consciousness Megaverse, just like the ones in the Spirit Nidus, were also all shaken by Lu Yin’s karmic attack at that moment.
Not even Lu Yin had expected to create such a tremendous commotion, and even the Heaven and Earth Lock faltered.
Yue Ya stared up at the sky as he felt the overwhelming vastness of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s power. He cried out, “What have you done?”
Countless eyes fell upon Lu Yin. They were filled with apprehension, shock, and terror.
Cultivators from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse truly feared the Greater Sancte from the bottom of their hearts.
At that moment, two individuals stumbled out of the entrance of the Willbound Spire, clearly disheveled. It was immediately apparent that one was Emperor Slayer, but surprisingly, the other was the High Seraph.
The High Seraph looked around in confusion. Again, he had been swept out of the Willbound Spire by the green lotus leaf.
Just what was going on?
A smile appeared on Lu Yin’s lips. He had indeed succeeded.
The High Seraph had planned out every step, from first severely wounding Yong Heng, to later using Yue Ya’s threats to propose a deal to cooperate with Lu Yin to enter the Willbound Spire. After Lu Yin was eventually forced to leave, the High Seraph would remain atop the cliff alone, free to approach the palace. His goal had already been achieved. He had remained alone atop the cliff.
He had never imagined that Lu Yin would have a backup plan, let alone one that even Lu Yin himself had not been certain would work. His only choice had been to try it.
The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm itself had been shaken by Lu Yin’s spirals of karma. The only remnant of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s power that remained, other than the wall of karma, was the green lotus leaf, and that leaf seemed to react to specific karmic triggers.
While Lu Yin did not know the precise trigger, he had suspected that it was most likely as simple as karma making contact with karma.
It was no different from how reactions occurred when one battle technique impacted another.
The power of karma was in and of itself reminiscent of a battle technique.
Lu Yin had released his spirals of karma and succeeded in triggering the green lotus leaf. That single action had caused the High Seraph to be swept out of the Willbound Spire.
This meant that no one was atop the cliff anymore, and the High Seraph was no longer able to freely approach the palace there.
Even if the man climbed back up the cliff, as long as Lu Yin so desired, the High Seraph could again be evicted by the green lotus leaf.
Things had just become quite interesting.
With the High Seraph kicked out of the Willbound Spire, the battle situation had inevitably been changed. At the very least, Yue Ya’s side would need to assign powerful experts to deal with the High Seraph.
