SSS Talent: My Undead Evolve Without Limits

Chapter 92: The Sacred Daughter

Malrik stepped into the room, Lilith following beside him, looking far too entertained by the scene.

"Enough."

His voice wasn’t loud, but the quiet authority behind it was enough to silence everyone at once.

Seren stopped mid-shout. The voices around her died down, and silence settled over the room.

Malrik’s gaze swept across everyone present before settling on Seren and Eliza.

"Now... would someone care to tell me what’s going on here?"

Before he could say anything else, Ronan rushed toward him.

"Finally! You’re awake, thank god."

Ronan grabbed his shoulders and looked him up and down, like he was checking with his own eyes that everything was fine.

"Damn it, you scared me half to death." Ronan shouted.

Malrik smiled. "Relax, I’m fine. There’s no need to worry. I’m not that fragile."

"Damn it, I wasn’t worried about you. I was worried about my own life."

"If you die while the rest of us are still standing here, do you really think the Duke and your siblings will just sit back and do nothing?"

"I’m pretty sure wiping Blackthorn off the map, forest and Morveth included, would be the least of what they’d do." Ronan said, a complicated expression crossing his face.

"And Felirosa... no. I don’t even want to think about it."

A smile spread across Malrik’s face. "So you were worried about yourself."

"Of course I was worried about myself!"

"We had every healer in the fortress working on you for two straight hours. They burned through every spell they had just to stabilize your wounds."

"I appreciate the concern."

"Concern?" Ronan looked at him, offended. "Don’t get it twisted. I was just trying to save my own skin."

Malrik wasn’t particularly bothered by it. He knew Ronan’s worry wasn’t solely about him, but also about what House Vesperian might do in response.

After all, if Malrik died and the Duke decided to make everyone pay the price, there would be no one left capable of protecting Ronan or his family.

Ronan’s father was merely a Saint, while Duke Vesperian stood at the Supreme Rank. The gap between them wasn’t merely large—it was so vast that most people wouldn’t even dare imagine the true extent of the power separating the two ranks.

There was a common belief that if a Supreme truly wished to, they could wipe out everyone beneath their rank without anyone being able to stop them. That was why people were always careful when dealing with those at such a level, as well as anyone connected to them.

In a world like this, insulting someone simply because you thought they were weak was never a wise decision.

If they had a Supreme standing behind them, you might wake up the next day to find your entire family gone, along with everyone else connected to you.

And when that happened, there would be no one to blame but yourself.

"Can someone please explain what the hell is going on here?"

"Is all this fighting really just over a few corpses?"

Seren started speaking once she’d calmed down a little. "Young Master Malrik, there’s something I want to clear up."

She shot an irritated glance at Eliza.

"I needed the mushroom-headed Morveth’s corpse. Someone I know is interested in studying the Poison Law it was using, which is why I fought for it myself."

"But the second the fight ended, this woman took the corpse without asking anyone. And she didn’t stop there. She also took some of our team’s other spoils."

Seren’s tone shifted slightly.

"That was one of the hardest fights we had yesterday. So I want to know. What gave her the right to take it?"

"So that’s what this is about...Seren, I’m sorry, but who told you those corpses were ever going to be split up?"

Seren froze for a second.

"What do you mean, Seventh Banner Bearer?"

"Exactly what you heard. Every single Morveth corpse collected after the battle belongs to me." Malrik said firmly. "Even the ones without a Law Seed."

A small smile crossed Eliza’s face. She looked genuinely pleased, shooting Seren a clear look of victory.

Malrik continued. "Eliza never made a mistake. She did exactly the right thing."

Malrik’s gaze shifted to Kael, who’d been listening in silence. "Kael, gather every Morveth corpse right now. Nobody’s getting any of them."

Kael hesitated for a moment before answering.

"But Seventh Banner Bearer, it’s common practice for soldiers to receive a share of the spoils. If we take all of it away from them, morale might take a hit."

"That’s a problem I’m sure you can handle, Young Lord Kael." Malrik answered calmly. "Those corpses have another use." He said it firmly.

"As you command." Kael nodded, reluctant.

Malrik turned back to Seren. "Seren, I understand why you’re angry. But I need these corpses for something important right now. Don’t worry, though. Everyone will be compensated for—"

Malrik stopped mid-sentence. Something had caught his attention that he hadn’t noticed walking in, too distracted by Eliza and Seren at the time.

In one corner of the room, a group of people had been watching everything unfold in silence.

Their polished white armor caught his eye first, trimmed with elegant gold detailing, swords hanging at their sides. There was no question they were knights. Their neat appearance and calm presence set them clearly apart from the mercenaries and soldiers of Blackthorn.

What caught Malrik’s attention more, though, was that none of them showed any interest in offering him respect. None of them bowed. None of them even shifted from where they stood, like his entrance hadn’t changed a single thing.

Then his eyes landed on the girl sitting among them.

She looked about his own age, with long red hair flowing over her shoulders and straight bangs framing soft, delicate features. Her eyes were a warm golden color, clear and striking.

She wore an elegant suit of pale gold armor, polished with care, its design balancing beauty and protection without looking heavy or bulky. The plates flowed smoothly around her body, their gleaming gold detail standing out against a calmer background that made her golden eyes even more striking.

Her face was beautiful, with delicate, well-proportioned features and clear skin fitting a daughter of a high-standing family, and a small smile that carried both playfulness and confidence.

Unlike the knights standing behind her, she sat completely relaxed in her seat, watching the argument in front of her like she was enjoying a play.

She noticed Malrik looking at her and smiled calmly.

"Oh, please don’t mind us. Go ahead and finish what you were saying, Seventh Banner Bearer."

She said it without moving from her seat, showing no intention of standing or offering any greeting.

Malrik didn’t answer. He kept looking at her for a few seconds, wondering who she was, before Eliza leaned in slightly and whispered in his ear.

"She’s the tenth Sacred Daughter of the Lumel Temple, and one of Lady Morgana’s adopted daughters, Young Master."

The Sacred Daughter?
