Chapter 39: Brutality Of A High-blood

Chapter 39: Brutality Of A High-blood

The pitch-black pocket of the Crimson Void bleeding through the air currents behind Thomas’s shoulder didn’t explode.

It snapped shut with a violent, localized decompression that completely warped the atmospheric pressure around his body. The sudden vacuum violently yanked Thomas backward, destroying his unrefined stance and pulling his spine flush against the cold, unyielding surface of the monolithic awakening crystal at the center of the ring.

Before he could even attempt to brace his feet against the black sand, Julian was already there.

There was no physical travel across the sand. The space between Julian and the crystal simply folded like an accordion for a single microsecond, and in the next frame, the noble was standing directly inside Thomas’s guard. His face was entirely bare, his striking ebony eyes cold and vacant as he drove a lightning-fast, mana-infused straight punch directly into Thomas’s unhealed midsection.

CRUNCH!

The impact echoed across the wind-swept tower apex like a crack of thunder. The sheer kinetic and gravitational force of the strike shattered the linen wraps binding Thomas’s torso, violently fracturing two more of his ribs and compressing his lungs until the air was completely stolen right out of his mouth. Thomas choked on his own breath, his body pinned firmly against the crystal as Julian unleashed a methodical, merciless onslaught.

A left hook caught Thomas dead in the jaw, splitting his lip wide open and sending a spray of dark crimson fluid across the smooth surface of the monolithic stone. Before Thomas’s head could even recoil from the impact, Julian swiped his fingers horizontally through the air. An invisible, whistling line of compressed space sliced through the air currents, catching Thomas across his right forearm as he clumsily tried to throw up a guard.

The invisible edge didn’t just cut; it literally deleted the physical space his uniform occupied, tearing through the calloused skin and leaving a deep, weeping laceration that exposed the pale bone beneath. Thomas let out a ragged, muffled gasp, his limbs shaking violently as Julian delivered a brutal knee straight into his thigh, tearing the muscle fibers apart and forcing him down onto his knees in the dirt.

"Stay down, lesser," Julian commanded, his elegant voice carrying a terrifying, rhythmic melody that cut through the whistling gale. He didn’t look winded; his white academy uniform remained pristine, his breathing perfectly level as he looked down at the blood-masked student with supreme, absolute disgust. "You can’t win. Recognize your place and yield."

Thomas didn’t answer. He couldn’t. His vision was blurring into a dark, white-hot haze of pure physical agony, his chest heaving painfully as blood continuously dripped from his swollen jaw into the dark sand. But deep inside the suffocating dark of his conscious mind, beneath his eyelids, the cold, translucent blue lines of the system interface flickered to life against the blackness.

[ CRITICAL DAMAGE PARAMETERS RECORDED ]

* Structural Attrition: Spatial Vector Decompression / Linear Core Slicing

* Internal Trauma: Multiple Rib Fractures / Muscle Fiber Tearing

* System Status: Processing Threat Matrix Architecture.

[ PROGRESS BAR: 3% ]

* Status: Analysis severely constrained by extreme complexity of spatial mana loops.

* System Notice: Host must maintain consciousness to prevent core flatlining.

Three percent. The adaptation bar was moving like absolute molasses, crawling forward pixel by single pixel because the rules of the Crimson Void were too intricate for his unrefined biology to digest quickly. Thomas gripped the shifting grains of the sand with his bleeding right fingers, his teeth grinding together so hard they threatened to crack. He knew he was being thoroughly, systematically handed his own life on a plate. He was completely outclassed, his biology buckling under the intense shock of a high-tier bloodline execution.

Yet, through the haze of blood and bone-rattling pain, Thomas forced his trembling legs under his weight. Shaking violently, his joints creaking under the heavy atmospheric pressure Julian was maintaining over the field, he dragged his battered body back up onto his feet. He stood swaying unsteadily, wiping the dark line of crimson from his chin with the back of his hand, his dark eyes wide open as he stared directly into Julian’s face.

High up in the back row of the stands, the lesser section was completely drowning in a suffocating, heartbroken silence. Ryan sat frozen against the stone tier, his face entirely pale, his hands shaking so hard his knuckles turned white as he watched his roommate get mercilessly dismantled. Lina was covering her mouth, tears streaming down her face, her body trembling with a deep, helpless sorrow.

Mina couldn’t bear to look at the sand anymore. She stood up from her bench, her posture shaking as she gripped the stone railing, her voice cracking with pure panic and desperation as she yelled down toward the crater.

"Quit, Thomas! Please, just quit!" Mina screamed, her voice echoing raw across the stadium. "You don’t have to die out there! Just yield!"

Julian’s face twisted into an ugly, furious scowl as he heard the lesser’s shouts, his pride and his patience violently flatlining. He looked at Thomas’s unyielding, bloody grin, his ebony eyes flashing with a dangerous, dark bloodlust.

"Since you do not want to yield, I shall put you down for good," Julian whispered, his voice dropping into a lethal octave that silenced the wind.

He raised both hands, his long fingers intertwining in a complex, recursive geometric pattern that caused the entire open sky above the arena to fracture into jagged spiderweb lines. A massive, deep crimson gravity well began to manifest directly above Thomas’s head, greedily swallowing the loose sand and air currents as Julian prepared to launch a final, definitive finishing blow that would completely erase the lesser’s existence from the board.

Down on the elevated marble platform, Instructor Cross’s stern face darkened to an absolute shadow. The veteran combat proctor stood with his hand tightly gripping the dark starting flag, a deep, sad reaction touching his battle-scarred features as he witnessed the pure brutality Julian was handing to the lesser freshman. He had seen hundreds of men die in the imperial vineries, but the systematic, cold execution of a student who simply refused to crawl away was a sight that made even his hardened heart grow heavy.

Even the thousands of High-blood spectators from the Holy City eventually stopped cheering. The manic laughter and vicious jeers that had filled the stadium during the opening minutes slowly died out, dropping the entire Crimson Arena into a terrifying, breathless quiet. The noble lines watched the blood spray across the sand with fearful expressions on their faces. The unadulterated, merciless sadism radiating off Julian’s pristine form wasn’t a triumph of their order anymore; it was a display of absolute, untamed terror that made their skin crawl. Some of the wealthier delegates in the upper rows simply lowered their eyes, their faces twisted into pitiful, somber expressions as they watched the tattered student wait for the slaughter under the crushing weight of the sky.

Julian brought his hands down, the absolute gravity well descending like a falling mountain.
