Chapter 449 - 449: Ice Monster
He had only travelled a few meters on the water when he saw the shadow again; it moved under him. It was still very deep down, so he waved it off and kept walking.
But when he got to the midpoint of the lake, the shadow got closer, rushing in his direction like a torpedo.
Silva reacted fast, he kicked the floor, launching himself back and into the air. The ice cracked and a massive monster the size of a skyscraper blasted out.
It was like a crocodile made of ice-white scales, with fins rather than hands. The water splashed all around and the ice scattered in every direction.
Silva only saw this creature for a moment, but he could tell that it was massive and extremely dangerous. He landed a few meters away, watching as the massive monster slammed into the ice.
It didn’t try to chase him at all, it simply slid back into the water, and right before Silva’s eyes, the ice that had been shattered was fixed; it froze instantly and covered it.
“The ice froze, that can’t be just because of the cold, right?” he muttered. His eyes scanned the surroundings fast, watching for where the monster would come from, and then he spotted it, the shadow moving there again. He looked ahead and started running.
But rather than the monster attacking, the ground was suddenly blasted open with more than a hundred-building-tall ice spikes. They ripped through the ground, chasing after Silva.
He dodged as fast as he could, moving light on his feet, but the ice spikes were unrelenting. They came out even faster, forcing him to take out his sword and start cutting through the ice.
His eyes darted around to find a direction to move, but the ice spikes were coming in from all directions.
“Fine, if you won’t stop, I’ll stop you,” he said, planting his foot into the ground. He spun around and slashed, releasing a massive flame arc that ripped through the surroundings. It tore through all the ice spikes, leveling them in an instant.
He stood there, waiting for what this monster had next. The shadow approached from below like a torpedo again. He got ready this time, his wings came out and at the right moment, he lunged into the air, fast as a bullet.
The monster smashed out of the ice and into the air, its mouth open and ready to attack, but Silva was ready. He pointed his sword at it, and with a smile, he blasted a massive stream of flames into the mouth of the monster.
BOOM!
The explosion knocked the monster back. It slammed into the ice, letting out a reverberating roar of pain that shook the entire ice.
It thrashed around, and this time it didn’t return into the ice. It pulled itself out, dragging its body onto the ice. The hole once again closed.
Silva stood there looking at the monster. It locked eyes on him and roared, the entire air shaken by the roar that sounded like the deep bellow of a massive trumpet.
It pushed itself forward, sliding across the ice and toward Silva. Silva readied his sword and stabbed it into the ice. A massive flame arc cut through the ice and headed for the monster. It slammed head-on, but the scales managed to save it from serious injuries.
It opened its mouth and a ball of pure ice formed; it fired it out. From a distance, Silva could already feel the deathly cold.
But he wasn’t bothered by it. He lit a flame in his hands, compressed it and then grew the size, compressed it again and again until it was burning like a small sun in his hands.
He shot the flame at the ice ball. It slammed into the ice ball and caused a massive explosion, leaving a cloud of steam and a shockwave that cracked the ice.
Silva launched through the steam. He locked eyes with the monster immediately as he came out. The monster created ice spikes and attacked Silva, but with one flap of his wings, he shot forward faster than the ice spikes could move.
“Let’s finish this,” he said and flew up. He looked down and then raised his sword, summoning all his flames. They burned high into the sky, forming a massive pillar of dark flames.
Then he compressed it, all that flame. He forced it down until it couldn’t be seen anymore. The compression was so much that he pulled all the heat from the surroundings as well.
The already extremely cold atmosphere went even colder, so cold that the air would hurt to breathe, and even hair would break in an instant.
The sword in his hands contained all that heat, and whatever it touched next would take the full brunt of the attack, and that was the plan.
He shot down, flying fast. The monster seemed to know that something was up. It immediately started attacking with ice spikes, launching one after the other into the sky, but Silva dodged with ease. He finally crossed the distance and stabbed, the tip of his sword touched the monster’s head.
There was a silence for a moment, so silent that only Silva’s breath could be heard. Then what followed was a sound that could only be called devastating.
KABOOM!
The air was burnt, the entire lake instantly melted, a shockwave covered the entire lake and went even further. The air trembled, the explosion was terrifying, and when it was done…
The monster was left with a massive hole in its head, its body trembling in pain, near death, missing half of its head.
The monster realized it was still alive after that blast, so it immediately allowed itself to fall into the water, leaving behind a trail of dark red blood.
Silva was about to follow, but the entire lake froze again and the monster managed to escape.
“Tsk, if I had only put in more strength to the attack.”
