SSS Awakening: All My Clones Have Divine Bloodlines!

Chapter 226: Demi-Gods

Selena’s situation was critical.

Her opponent was extremely powerful, and it had taken everything she had just to put him on the defensive and create an opening where she could potentially defeat him.

But before she could take advantage of that opportunity, someone else showed up and interrupted the fight, changing its outcome once again, and this time, for the worse.

The newcomer’s attack interrupted her strike, forcing her to retreat, but Selena understood that she couldn’t let the opportunity slip away. She tried to attack the man again, only to be knocked back once more.

Within seconds the newcomer reached her too, putting Selena in a difficult position.

The newcomer was a middle-aged man with a sword hanging at his waist.

He now stood before the wounded man, his gaze flicking from her to him, before settling on the lifeless body of the girl nearby.

He seemed to take in the entire scene at a glance, and his already grim expression darkened further.

"And to think this was supposed to be a simple mission. Yet here we are, one dead and another badly injured. The boss is not going to be happy about this," he said, his words dripping with frustration and anger.

Selena wanted to seize the opening to ask who their boss was, who had sent them, but the man didn’t seem to be in the mood for talking, He studied her with murderous intent, his hand settling on the hilt of his sword.

"You’ve caused us quite a lot of trouble, you know. I won’t kill you, but you can be sure you won’t be getting out of this in one piece," he said, drawing his blade as his power surged outward.

B-Rank Advanced-Stage.

Selena felt his strength and immediately understood just how dire her situation had become. She had no way out. She was injured, and more importantly, she was now facing a second B-Rank opponent, one who was considerably stronger than her.

For the first time since all of this had begun, she felt utterly powerless, not knowing what to do.

She watched with a resigned expression as the man advanced, blade already drawn and coated in mana, closing in at a measured pace, not too fast, not too slow, as if he wanted to savor the moment.

She gritted her teeth and tightened her grip on her sword’s hilt, bracing herself to defend and counter.

One last effort. Even with no real hope of winning, she wouldn’t give up without fighting to the very end.

His footsteps grew clearer as he approached.

But just as he reached five meters away, he stopped.

No, not just him. All three of them stopped at once, the hair on their bodies standing on end as an overwhelming sense of death washed over every one of them.

Almost by instinct, all three of them raised their heads, and saw it.

The portal, tearing open above, colossal, like an enormous wound gouged into the sky, and from it, something was beginning to emerge, something whose mere presence alone was enough to crush all three of them where they stood.

"W-what the hell is that thing," the swordsman managed to force out, struggling even to speak.

As if that weren’t enough, his entire body had gone rigid, paralyzed by a fear that seemed to rise from the very depths of his soul, as if his whole being recognized the sheer superiority of the creature that had appeared and simply accepted that there was no point resisting.

The same happened to the other two.

But unlike the two men, Selena, even in that state, wasn’t completely overwhelmed.

No.

She could still form an idea of what was happening.

She understood what that creature was, and she understood just how powerful it was.

At least, to some extent.

Her experience in that dimension had allowed her to recognize that this being was very close to the level of strength of those unknown existences, perhaps even slightly stronger.

But unlike the other two men, who despite the great distance separating them were still being crushed by terror and the certainty of death, she didn’t feel that same effect.

Maybe it was because she’d already been through something like it before, or maybe it was something else entirely, she didn’t know. All she knew was that she needed to get out of there, fast, because if she stayed even a little longer, she’d die right along with this city.

She was certain of it now. This city was doomed. There was no way they could fight against that creature.

But right at that moment, as she fought to force her body into motion and swallow down her fear, her instincts screamed another warning, and she wasn’t the only one. The other two men noticed it too, and all three of them turned their eyes toward the dense forest surrounding them.

The ground beneath them began to tremble, faintly at first, the intensity building steadily.

Although they couldn’t see anything yet, their enhanced senses allowed them to detect several traces of strange energy appearing, one after another.

The number of them continued to increase.

And so did their strength.

All three of them understood, with growing horror, exactly what it was.

It was a beast tide. And it was coming straight toward them.

***

The situation had changed not only in Ashwick.

It had changed across the entire continent.

Multiple cracks began appearing in the sky, and with them came powerful beings, beings whose mere appearance was enough to put entire cities and villages in danger.

Beings that forced even the strongest people in the world to act.

Because all of them understood what these creatures were.

DemiGods

Their sudden appearance was devastating and impossible for anyone to ignore, including one particular individual who, at that very moment, had just finished crushing dozens of Paragons to death with brute force alone.

Near the easternmost edge of Solren, in a region close to Ravenhold, an enormous crater stretched across the land, its radius spanning kilometers, reaching all the way to the city itself. But within that area, and for a wide stretch around it, something was deeply wrong, an utter absence of life. No beasts, no Hollows, no ordinary creatures, no humans.

Every last one of them was dead or had fled, and the reason lay within the crater itself.

Countless corpses, some colossal, some smaller, but every single one sharing the same thing in common. Every one of them had been powerful. The weakest, an Overlord. Many others, Paragons. All dead. All lying scattered across the center of the crater, at the heart of which stood a single figure.

A woman.

It was Evangeline, who had finally entered the battle.

After wiping out the strongest threats within the Beast Kingdom, she had moved into human territory, wasting no time hunting down the strongest beings in the area and cutting them down like flies.

However, this seemed to have provoked the Abyss.

And it was quick to respond.

Beings of DemiGod rank began appearing everywhere at once.

Her expression, however, remained calm as her gaze settled in a particular direction.

She’d sensed the nearest DemiGod.

Her expression barely shifted, if at all, as she turned toward the figure beside her, a woman who appeared to be in her early twenties.

It was Luna.

Evangeline placed one hand on her hip and said,

"So, want to come with me? I’m sure you’ll have fun," she said.

Luna, however, didn’t share her enthusiasm and simply nodded.

Evangeline, unbothered, smiled and vanished, and with her, Luna disappeared as well, both of them heading west, toward Ashwick.
