Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 91: Animal King

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Animal King

After two weeks of this tedious yet tense life, Beisang summoned everyone to assemble.

Standing on the stage, she held a microphone and loudly announced that the mutant beast tide had receded.

The days ahead would be peaceful again. Everyone could finally have a good New Year!

Hearing this, the crowd erupted in cheers. The war was finally over!

The beast tide was over, and so was their special training.

Things would finally slow down a bit!

People hugged each other, and the soldiers returning from the front lines were especially teary-eyed.

"This year’s beast tide is finally over!"

"We can finally get a good rest."

On the stage, Beisang watched the soldiers below crying tears of joy, and her own heart ached with emotion.

She then stood up from her seat, microphone in hand, and continued, "This year’s victory was a result of everyone’s combined efforts. For this victory, many of our brothers and sisters-in-arms died in this war."

"Let us mourn for our fallen brothers and sisters!"

After she spoke, the leaders on stage all bowed their heads, and the soldiers below fell silent for a moment of remembrance.

After the moment of silence, Beisang said a few more words before dismissing everyone. But they had barely been dismissed when Jiang Lusheng called all the new recruits to assemble again.

After this period of special training, the recruits had long shed their initial laziness and sluggishness. They moved swiftly, assembling completely in just three minutes.

"Your special training ends today. The squad captains will be coming with a list to pick their members. When your name is called, you will go with your new squad captain."

’So that’s what Jiang Lusheng meant,’ she thought. ’We new recruits are going to be assigned to squads, and soon we’ll be sent into battle to kill the enemy.’

The days had passed so quickly. Lin Jingjing looked at her fellow recruits; their immature faces had been replaced by composed and steady expressions.

She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ’Time flies. It’s already been several months since we transmigrated here.’

They had slowly transformed from weaklings into capable fighters. While they weren’t the most powerful people around, compared to their past selves, their progress was immense.

"Which squad do you think we’ll be assigned to?" Feng He asked, looking at the squad captains on the stage. She frowned slightly, not wanting to be separated from them.

"I don’t want to be separated from you guys," Shi Feng said sadly, pouting.

"We probably won’t be separated," Mo Xuan said after a moment’s thought. ’If we all join squads, who’s going to cook for everyone?’

’It probably wouldn’t take more than a few days before the soldiers who couldn’t get their food anymore started to riot.’

And just as Mo Xuan had predicted, after the six squads finished their selections, only the five of them remained on the vast, empty field.

Seeing this, some people began to whisper among themselves. A few even shouted directly, "Instructor, why doesn’t anyone want them?"

The five of them were clearly very strong, so it was strange that no squad captain had picked them.

Hearing their questions, Jiang Lusheng picked up his megaphone and yelled, "Because the five of them are from the logistics department! If they join the squads, there’ll be no one left to cook!"

’I thought he’d come up with some excuse,’ they thought. ’I didn’t expect him to be so blunt about it.’

’Because our cooking is too good, we can’t be picked. We still have to stir-fry vegetables in the kitchen.’

The five of them stood there, utterly speechless...

’Seriously? It’s not that serious.’

’Why did he have to be so direct?’

Once the crowd heard this, they immediately understood. ’Oh, well in that case, never mind.’

’It’s actually a good thing they weren’t chosen. The delicious sweet and sour pork ribs must not disappear!’

"That’s great! Does this mean we might get to eat their food on the battlefield in the future?"

"That would be amazing! Yeah, they should just stay in the logistics department."

"I wonder if there’ll be stewed pig’s trotters tonight. I love those."

"Yeah, and the fried chicken cutlets! They’re so good."

Listening to the discussion, the group let out a dry, speechless laugh. "Heh heh..."

’A bunch of foodies!’

’We’ll have to make two fewer dishes tomorrow.’

The selection ended, and everyone dispersed.

With nothing else to do, Feng He and Mo Xuan went to the lab to dissect mutant beast corpses. Shi Feng’s delivery had arrived, so with time on his hands, he went to the Mecha Manufacturing Room to study Mecha.

Gu Kaiwen, who only wanted to be the top soldier, finished his meal and dove straight into the training room, not to be seen again.

Lin Jingjing didn’t feel like doing anything, so she just went to her dorm room to sleep.

Perhaps because she was so relaxed, she entered the Spiritual World again after falling asleep. Upon entering, Lin Jingjing looked around and noticed new changes.

The grass was greener, the trees were taller, and what’s more, there were many more animals.

She could even see young cubs and fawns rolling around on the grass.

The place had clearly become a new ecosystem of its own.

As Lin Jingjing stood there, the animals sleeping on the ground caught her familiar scent and immediately woke up.

Once they saw who it was, they rushed over and began rubbing against Lin Jingjing’s legs.

A small cat and some birds even landed on her shoulder, nuzzling against her.

Lin Jingjing hadn’t expected to be so popular. Feeling pleasantly overwhelmed, she raised a hand to stroke their heads.

"Are you all this happy to see me?" Lin Jingjing asked, a wide smile spreading across her face as she listened to their happy whines and purrs.

"You’re all so good," Lin Jingjing said with a smile, crouching down to pet them.

After petting them for a while, Lin Jingjing let herself fall back onto the grass. She gazed up at the azure sky. The air here was incredibly fresh, and it felt wonderful just to be here.

The small animals lay down right beside her. The young ones frolicked nearby, and birds circled in the air, chirping away.

Lin Jingjing felt completely at ease, both in body and mind.

As she lay there, she thought, ’If only the other four could come in here too.’

’Feng He and Gu Kaiwen would be so happy to see so many cute animals.’

’If Shi Feng saw all these different snakes, he’d probably burst into tears. And even though Mo Xuan is a bit cold, he’s always been the most popular with animals.’

"If only you could all come outside with me," Lin Jingjing murmured, lying on her side as she stroked the tiger next to her.

"ROAR—"

As long as you agree, we can leave.

Hearing the tiger’s "words," Lin Jingjing was stunned. ’These animals can leave?’

’If they can leave, wouldn’t that make me the Queen of the Animals?’

"Can you really go outside?" Lin Jingjing sat up and asked the tiger, her gaze intensely serious.

The tiger opened its mouth. "ROAR..."

Yes, we can go outside.

The smile on Lin Jingjing’s face grew wider and wider. She threw her arms around the tiger, stroking its thick fur again and again.

"How do I agree to let you out?" Lin Jingjing asked.

A leopard nearby quickly spoke up. "GROWL—"

I know! As long as you call for us, we can come out.

"Then what should I call you?" Lin Jingjing asked, looking over at it.

"MEOW~"

It doesn’t have to be that complicated. Just think of us, and we’ll appear.

Hearing this, Lin Jingjing giggled. She had to try it.

At that moment, Lin Jingjing, who was lying in her bed, woke up. She quickly sat up, her mind focusing on the image of the tiger.

Suddenly, a large tiger appeared in her dorm room.
