Chapter 124: Injured
Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Injured
The two large scorpions stood facing each other for a few seconds before they started fighting.
They were huge, and the ruckus they made was especially loud.
Each leap seemed powerful enough to shake the entire desert.
Lin Jingjing found some cover nearby. Cover was scarce in the desert, so she was lucky to find a large rock in the vicinity.
She quickly scrambled on top of the rock, then took aim at one of the scorpions with the sniper rifle she had formed from her spiritual power.
Lin Jingjing lay prone, her legs slightly apart. She aimed at the scorpion, took a deep breath, and, with full concentration, fired a shot.
The shot struck the scorpion’s pincer directly. Although the scorpion’s exoskeleton was incredibly hard, Lin Jingjing’s bullet was no ordinary projectile.
It was a bullet forged from her spiritual power, incomparable to a regular one.
The shot pierced right through the scorpion’s pincer. The small scorpion Lin Jingjing had summoned seized the opportunity and charged forward to attack.
The two scorpions were evenly matched, trading blows back and forth.
Meanwhile, Shi Feng and the others searched for a long time before finally finding the other two by a tree.
Mo Xuan was leaning against the tree trunk, with Feng He tending to him at his side.
Looking down, they saw Mo Xuan’s foot was swollen and his arm was bleeding.
"How did you get hurt so badly?" Gu Kaiwen asked with a frown upon seeing the scene. Mo Xuan replied nonchalantly, "I ran into a rock, then a tree."
Hearing this, Feng He, who was beside him, bit her lip and said nothing. ’He only got hurt because he was protecting me.’
’And yet he says it so casually. It makes me feel terrible.’
"What about you, Feng He?" Shi Feng asked, turning to her with a worried tone.
"I’m fine." Feng He shook her head. When the scorpion burst out from underground, Mo Xuan had pulled her into his arms, taking all the damage himself.
Gu Kaiwen crouched down for Mo Xuan to get on his back. Seeing this, Shi Feng also crouched in front of Feng He and said, "You get on, too."
Feng He refused. "But I’m not hurt."
"I can walk on my own."
"Alright then," Shi Feng said, standing up with a hint of regret.
The four of them slowly made their way toward Lin Jingjing’s position. They heard the sounds of fighting before they even got close.
Soon, they spotted the two large scorpions, locked in combat. Their pincers and tails were sharp and venomous.
They took cover some distance away and scanned the area, but they couldn’t see Lin Jingjing.
But one of the giant scorpions was summoned by Lin Jingjing, so where was she?
"Why can’t I see Sister Lin?" Shi Feng’s eyes darted around, searching for any sign of her.
"Look closely," Mo Xuan, who was beside them, said, pointing at the enemy scorpion. "There’s a bullet hole."
The others looked and looked, but they still couldn’t see the so-called bullet hole.
"You can’t see it?" Mo Xuan asked, puzzled that none of them could spot it.
To him, the bullet hole was quite obvious.
"Who could see it from this far away?" Gu Kaiwen retorted. "And how big is a bullet hole anyway? How are we supposed to see a tiny wound like that?"
Hearing Gu Kaiwen’s complaint, Mo Xuan fell silent. ’Can they really not see it?’
"I can see it quite clearly," Mo Xuan said.
Everyone knew that Mo Xuan wasn’t the type to joke around. So, was he telling the truth?
"What, you have eagle eyes?" Shi Feng quipped. "Don’t tell me you’ve awakened clairvoyance and clairaudience?"
"I don’t know," Mo Xuan shook his head. "All I know is that my vision is very clear right now."
"Tsk, that’s insane. You could be Sister Lin’s spotter," Gu Kaiwen commented.
During their conversation, Lin Jingjing fired another shot at the scorpion.
This shot hit the scorpion’s eye. It screeched in pain, and the small scorpion immediately pressed its attack, striking with its pincers.
It also used its tail to relentlessly strike the scorpion’s vital points. With Lin Jingjing’s support, the small scorpion finished its opponent off.
Looking at the now pincer-less scorpion, they all silently gave a thumbs-up. ’Impressive!’
’Are all the creatures from Sister Lin’s Spiritual World this powerful? Every animal that comes out seems capable of defeating its opponent.’
Lin Jingjing breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the scorpion was dead. ’It really just served itself up for a beating.’
With that thought, she slid down from the rock, walked up to her small scorpion, and patted its large pincer. "Good work."
Having been praised, the small scorpion began to jump around excitedly. It was so large that every hop kicked up clouds of sand.
Lin Jingjing got a mouthful of sand, and her clothes were covered in it too.
"Alright, alright," Lin Jingjing called out quickly. "You’re getting sand all over me!"
The small scorpion immediately stopped when Lin Jingjing said that.
[Master, was I amazing!]
After every fight, each of her little creatures would ask for Lin Jingjing’s praise.
And Lin Jingjing was never stingy with her praise; she would use the best words to compliment them.
"Amazing. Very amazing."
[Then who’s stronger, me or the Emerald King Snake?]
Hearing this, the corner of Lin Jingjing’s mouth twitched involuntarily. ’Why is it starting a rivalry now?’
"I think you’re all amazing. It’s not about one being stronger than the other," Lin Jingjing said, trying to be impartial.
The small scorpion didn’t seem to mind Lin Jingjing’s answer. It was happy. It shrank down, climbed onto Lin Jingjing’s shoulder, and started dancing joyfully.
Looking at the huge scorpion carcass in front of her, Lin Jingjing nodded. ’Looks like we’ve got lunch sorted.’
"Sister Lin!" Shi Feng shouted to her. Lin Jingjing turned to see the four of them walking toward her.
Mo Xuan was being carried on Gu Kaiwen’s back, obviously injured.
Lin Jingjing walked over and asked, "What happened? Where are you hurt?"
"His arm and foot," Feng He answered. "He sprained his ankle."
Mo Xuan looked down at his foot and said guiltily, "Sorry, I might slow you guys down from now on."
He had barely finished speaking when Shi Feng smacked him on the back of the head. "What’re you apologizing for?" he said, annoyed.
"We’re a team, and you’re apologizing!"
The others nodded in agreement. "Don’t talk about apologies," Lin Jingjing said, also reaching out to pat his head.
Chatting, the group arrived at the base of the large rock Lin Jingjing had been perched on and started getting busy.
Once they settled, they laid some clothes on the ground. Then, Lin Jingjing handed her Space Ring to Feng He, saying, "You treat his wounds first. I’ll go get that scorpion."
"Okay," Feng He nodded. The other two had already started gathering rocks to build a stove.
Hearing that Lin Jingjing was going to drag the huge scorpion back by herself, Shi Feng volunteered, "I’ll help too."
"No need. You’d just be wasting your time," Lin Jingjing refused.
"Then how are you going to manage it by yourself?" Gu Kaiwen asked, confused.
"I have him," Lin Jingjing said, pointing to the scorpion on her shoulder.
The scorpion she pointed at wiggled its now-tiny pincers.
