As Aquarina extended her hand towards her baby sister, the child extended her little hand, grabbing her finger. The size difference was big, the child’s little hand could barely grab her finger, even though the baby was at least thirty percent bigger than the usual amazonian baby.
“What’s wrong, Esmeralda?” Nepheline asked, giggling at her daughter. “You like your big sister finger?”
“Haha, looks like she likes you already, Aquarina,” Shade said.
“So her name’s Emeralda? Is it because of her Emerald eyes?” wondered Aquarina.
“Yeah, we called you Aquarina because of your eyes too,” Nepheline nodded.
“Your beautiful blue eyes, like Aquamarine jewels,” added Shade.
As Aquarina felt embarrassed while looking at the baby, she saw Aguarapida slowly walking away.
“Alright, I’ll be leaving you alone for now, I understand this is an important moment, so take it easy and rest.”
“Sure, thank you, Aguarapida. We owe you one with this.” Shade said.
“Oh please, don’t mind it, I am already indebted to you heroes,” Aguarapida smiled, walking away.
As Aguarapida walked away, Aquarina looked at Emeralda with a gentle smile, it was quite clear that while Aquarina had inherited a stronger bloodline from her father, her sister had inherited more from her mother due to her larger size and darker skin, and of course her emerald eyes.
“When will you let go of my finger, hm? You seem focused on it- Huh?”
And yet, as she saw the baby grab her finger and felt connected with the child, blushing and feeling so happy, she noticed something around the baby’s right arm, there were strange black tattoos resembling shadows extending all the way to the palm of her hand, swirling into a black sun-like tattoo.
“Did you see that? Is that a rune or something?” Aquarina wondered, looking at the tattoo of Aguarapida, which actually extended to her chest.
“It seems to be a manifested ability from my family, we did notice,” Shade nodded. “I think it might be a Unique Ability tied to my Bloodline; we don’t know which one though.”
“I-I see… Well, it’s barely noticeable with her skin color being so dark,” Aquarina said. “You have to really look her closely to notice, heheh.”
“Yeah, we didn’t notice immediately either…” Nepheline nodded. “But it seems this girl will have a bright future, her talents will be rather big! Aquarina, you better help us raise her well, alright? You will be a good big sister, and a model figure for her. However you act will no influence her a lot too.”
“I-I know… I’ll do my best,” Aquarina nodded.
She slightly changed a bit, realizing the responsibility of being a big sister was heavier than she imagined… Like Sylphy, she has to act like a role model for her little sister, so her sister doesn’t begin acting cocky or conceited.
When children grow up they imitate a lot of what adults do, especially their close family members. It’s very common for little siblings to be heavily influenced by their big siblings, sometimes even more than their own parents as they’re both young and feel more connected most of the time.
Though the case is different for each person, some siblings grow up to hate each other to death for example, but Aquarina didn’t want that relationship, she wanted something like what Sylphy had with Zephyrus, if possible.
“I’ll love her a lot… And take care of her too,” Aquarina nodded, as she kissed her little sister in the forehead, caressing her silky hair, her head was very warm.
“Buuhh…!” Suddenly, Esmeralda let go of her mother’s breast, and looked at Aquarina, as she waved her little hands at her face, and started touching her nose, eye, and mouth.
“Heheh, what’s wrong? Is my face weird to you? Haha, stop it!” Aquarina giggled, but didn’t move away, letting her little sister grab her face playfully.
“Buubuuh! Baabaaah?” Little Esmeralda showed a greater understanding of her surroundings than most newborns and wasn’t sleepy at all either.
“Was I like this at her age?” Aquarina wondered, as her cheeks were being pulled by the baby.
“Kind of yeah, Amazonian children are precious,” said Shade. “They’re born a bit older than other humans… After a month or two they can move on their own in all fours and crawl happily everywhere.”
“Yep, just like you! Also we got a lot of stamina, so Esmeralda isn’t even going to sleep yet! Look, she’s already ready for the world! What a child! Hahaha!” Nepheline laughed as she saw her little daughter pulling Aquarina’s hair and giggling.
“Geheheh!” Little Esmeralda imitated her mother’s big laughter.
Aquarina couldn’t really get mad with the child for messing around with her, as she let her play with her hair or whatever.
“Oohh…” then little Esmeralda looked at the long braid Aquarina had.
“You like that? It’s a braid,” Aquarina explained. “It’s cute right? You’ll get two braids as the second child.”
“Awaaaah!” Esmeralda didn’t know though, so she kept pulling the braid around until she got tired and then continued drinking milk.
“She’s quite the playful one already, haha,” Shade laughed. “Ah right, breakfast! Nepheline, are you hungry?”
“Yes, quite a bit…” nodded Nepheline. “This baby is going to drain all my energy by drinking my milk so I need to replenish fast. Also we need some diapers.”
“I’ll get it done then,” nodded Shade. “Aquarina, let’s go make your mother breakfast. I already have diapers ready here… So let’s put them on her…”
Shade gently put a diaper around Esmeralda’s naked baby bum, and then Nepheline put on her a little shirt for her small body which she had already made a while ago.
“Awah?”
Esmeralda looked a bit confused after that, but also quite cute, as if she knew she was adorable.
“Perfect!” Nepheline smiled. “What a cute baby girl! Want more of mommy’s milk?”
“Buuh!” Esmeralda quickly went back to feeding.
Aquarina gave Esmeralda one last kiss on her little head before leaving with her father, feeling fuzzy feelings inside of her.
Despite everything, she couldn’t help but feel very happy right now.
“Esmeralda, I’ll be the best big sister you could ever ask for! Just you wait!”
