Chapter 515: Chapter 432: Belle Bloom’s Mortal Shell (Part 2)
’Back in Azuregard City, she had ruthlessly blinded him. So now that I’ve awakened a second superpower and become a Dual Ability User, she...’
’The more I think about it, the more possible it seems. It’s the apocalypse, after all; women like strong men. My potential is way greater than Lex Cross’s now. It’s possible that Flora is just trying to keep Lex placated, while also not wanting to hurt me.’
And so, with a smug look on his face, Mason Adler stopped his furious roaring. He suddenly flashed a cryptic smile and spoke to the seven researchers who were engrossed in their work.
"How about this, can you guys pass a message to Flora Bloom for me? Just say that I’ve received her good intentions, and tell her not to worry, I don’t blame her. Just ask her to come see me when it’s convenient."
Seeing Mason Adler so calm and composed, the seven researchers were rather unsure of what to make of him. All seven had recognized Flora Bloom as their master through her spatial brand, so they took matters concerning her very seriously.
They didn’t care about Lex Cross, but anything involving Flora Bloom, they were bound to take seriously. On the other hand, they were also afraid Mason Adler would start another uproar and disrupt their work. After conferring with the other six, one of the researchers decided to go to Flora’s villa to find her.
At that moment, Flora Bloom was in her room, coaxing Polly to sleep.
Flora Bloom knew the moment Roy Lynch arrived downstairs. She glanced at the already sleeping Polly and at Lex Cross, who was still washing up, then threw on a jacket and went downstairs.
"Roy Lynch, what’s going on? Is there a problem with the research?"
Roy Lynch replied with a look of utmost respect, "Master, it’s not a problem with the research. It’s the man Captain Cross put in the lab. He has a message for me to give you."
Flora Bloom’s brow furrowed slightly as she heard footsteps approaching from behind. She turned to see Lex Cross. "Why did you come down?"
Lex Cross had just finished showering, and a faint scent of body wash still clung to him. "What is it? Is Mason Adler still not behaving himself over there?"
Roy Lynch hesitated for a few seconds. Flora Bloom said nonchalantly, "Just say what you have to say. Why are you stammering?"
Roy Lynch gave Lex Cross a strange look, then decided not to hide anything.
"Master, that Mason Adler fellow said... he understands your good intentions and doesn’t blame you. He asks that you... go see him, if you have time."
Hearing this, Flora Bloom’s mind couldn’t quite process it. ’Good intentions? Go see him when I have time?’
’Why does that sound so weird?’
"Are you sure that’s the message he wanted you to give me?"
Roy Lynch nodded. "Yes, Master."
"Did awakening a second superpower break his brain? Is he behaving himself in the lab? Has he caused any trouble for your work?"
Roy Lynch shook his head. "He hasn’t been much of a disruption. But... is this person going to stay in our research lab permanently?"
After a moment of consideration, Flora Bloom looked toward Lex Cross, intending to ask if they should just let him go. But she found that the expression on Lex’s face as he looked at her was a little off.
"Hey? Why are you looking at me like that? What are we going to do with that cheap brother of yours?"
A barely perceptible, dangerous glint appeared in Lex Cross’s eyes. "Deal with him...? I’ll deal with him."
After Roy Lynch took his leave, Lex Cross narrowed his eyes at Flora Bloom. "How do you know Mason Adler?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Why would he say something like that? ’Doesn’t blame you’? ’Go see him when you have time’?"
Flora Bloom blinked. "I think it’s weird, too... Logically speaking, after what happened in Azuregard City, he should hate me."
Lex Cross raised an eyebrow. "In Azuregard City?" He suddenly recalled that he had been in contact with Milton Adler in Azuregard City back then. He had offered advice on how to resolve the base’s internal conflicts and had also learned that Flora Bloom had gone there.
’But he hadn’t known the two of them had met back then?’
"Yeah. Didn’t he go blind later? I ran into him when I went to Argent to find you before. To avoid trouble, I didn’t let him recognize me."
As Flora Bloom spoke, she suddenly heard Lex Cross’s breathing grow heavy. "Lex? Hey, what’s wrong with you? About this Mason Adler thing... I don’t think it’s a big deal. As long as he behaves himself at the base and doesn’t cause trouble, why don’t we just let him go?
After all, a Healing System superpower is just too rare."
Lex Cross suddenly let out a dry laugh. "Rare? Are you sure you’re not just feeling sorry for him?"
Flora Bloom froze. "What? What does Mason Adler have to do with me? Why would I feel sorry for him..." She stared suspiciously at Lex Cross and saw his eyes dart away. Recalling their conversation just now, she thought for a moment and then suddenly smiled.
"Oh... Is someone getting a little jealous?"
Lex Cross’s eyes locked onto the charmingly mischievous woman before him. Suddenly, the corner of his mouth hooked into a smirk. "Jealous...? I think we should go back to our room and have a thorough discussion about how to handle the issue of Mason Adler’s future survival at the base..."
