Chapter 2363: The True Leader

The snake and the forest immediately disappeared from the leader's sight. No more scenes where he had been swallowed alive by the snake. He was back in the interrogation room. He saw Long Hui sitting in front of him, watching him in silence.

"Are you ready to tell us now?" Long Hui asked.

"Yes." The leader answered it right away. He obviously did not want to experience that again, even though it was just an illusion.

The leader immediately gave out the information about the buyer that he had. However, he did not know much about him. The one who orchestrated everything was one of the captured men. He was the man who was supposed to receive the weapons at the village.

Long Hui was surprised by this revelation. The man seemed to be timid. If someone looked at him, they never thought he was the leader. They would think he was the lackey that everyone could use.

The military paid attention to this leader, thinking that they could extract the information from the leader. So, they did not pay much attention to others. They had just been locked away.

Long Hui got out of the room and talked to the officers. He told them what he got from the leader. The officers nodded and asked the soldiers to bring the man mentioned by the leader.

As he predicted, the man calmly followed the soldiers to enter the room. It was the same room used earlier by the leader. He sat silently in the chair while looking around.

Long Hui entered the room. Their eye met each other. The man instantly smiled. Long Hui sat in front of him. He opened the file.

"Your name is Cai Cheng." Long Hui stated.

"So, what?" Cai Cheng said.

"Kong Delun told me that you are the mastermind." Long Hui said.

"How can you believe something like that?" Cai Cheng said.

"You should confess everything." Long Hui said.

"I know you. You are the famous Colonel Long. Do you want to force out a confession from me?" Cai Cheng asked.

"If you want to get a lower sentence, it would be good if you confess everything." Cai Cheng said.

"Colonel Long, I am just a helper who has been hired to help them, transferring the weapons and storing them in the village." Cai Cheng stated.

"I gave you a chance and you wasted it." Long Hui stated.

Cai Cheng suddenly realised that he was out. He was standing in front of an old house. His old house at that village. He heard a laugh inside the house. When he was looking inside, he saw his mother and sister smiling at each other.

Both of them turned to Cai Cheng, waving at him to come closer. Cai Cheng was stunned for a moment. He could not believe what he was watching right now. he tried to convince himself that this was an illusion.

However, that thought cracked when his sister came out and pulled him inside. Cai Cheng stared at the hand that touched him. He could feel her touch. It felt so real.

"What is going on with you, Brother? Mom and I called you several times to come in to eat. But you ignored us and just kept staring at us. Just like right now." The sister said.

"Cheng'er, what's wrong?" The mother asked gently.

It was really the same. His mother and sister were still alive. But he refused to believe that. It was just an illusion.

"Brother, eat it." The sister fed Cai Cheng some food.

Cai Cheng was once again shocked. How could he taste the food if this was just an illusion?

"How is it, Brother? I asked Mum to cook this meat for you. It is your birthday after all. Since we don't have much money to buy a cake, Mum slaughtered a chicken for you." The sister smiled.

The mother put a drumstick into Cai Cheng's bowl. "Here, Cheng'er, it is your favourite."

Cai Cheng's eyes became teary.

"Brother, why are you crying? You don't like drumsticks anymore?" The sister asked.

"Cheng'er, what is going on with you?" The mother was worried when her son suddenly cried.

"Mum, Suyin..." Cai Cheng sobbed.

"Brother, why are you crying like this? It is so embarrassing. You are a boy. Mum says a boy can not cry like this." The sister looked at Cai Cheng.

Cai Cheng grabbed the chicken and ate it. Yes. He tasted it. Delicious. It was indeed his mother's cooking.

"Brother must be so hungry. That is why he is crying." The sister laughed.

"Slow down, Cheng'er. No need to rush." The mother said.

While he was eating, he suddenly remembered something. He turned and looked at his mother.

"Mum, where is Dad?" Cai Cheng asked.

The mother's smile froze for a moment before answering Cai Cheng's question. "Your father needs to go to the city to work. He will be back soon."

"No... Mum, Suyin, we need to run away." Cai Cheng suddenly realised what the day was. He needed to hurry up.

It was the doom day for him. The scene was the same. His mother cooked a chicken for his birthday. They were eating happily, celebrating his birthday. However, after finishing everything, there would be a group of thugs coming to the house, demanding money from them. The thugs told them that his father borrowed some money from a shady loan shark.
