Chapter 930: Saving Kakashi
Kakashi’s Side
Kakashi’s current predicament is truly dire. While he successfully sent Naruto away, ensuring his temporary safety, his own life is now hanging by a thread. His actions in saving not only Fū but also Naruto have incensed Nagato.
All the meticulous planning by the Akatsuki Organization to capture all the Jinchuriki without confronting the Amatsukami has been in vain due to Kakashi and his Flying Raijin Jutsu. Consequently, Nagato has no intention of sparing his life. Dealing with one Amatsukami is already a daunting task, and now there’s Kakashi with his Flying Raijin Jutsu to contend with.
Kakashi has made valiant efforts to evade Nagato’s relentless pursuit, but every attempt has been futile. His body is now covered in severe scars and injuries, severely limiting his mobility. To make matters worse, a black rod has been implanted in his leg, through which Nagato transmits his Chakra, disrupting Kakashi’s own Chakra and rendering him incapable of using even the most basic Body Transformation Jutsu, let alone something as complex as the Flying Raijin or any other Ninjutsu.
Kakashi’s attempt to pull out the Black Rod from his leg ended in failure. The moment his hand made contact with it, his body convulsed, and he lost all his strength, collapsing to the ground. Frustrated, he cursed under his breath, “Damn it… is this the end for me?”
Kakashi understood the gravity of his situation. If he couldn’t remove the Black Rod lodged in his leg, Nagato would swiftly locate him, as these Black Rods acted as Chakra Receivers, allowing Nagato to pinpoint their locations.
Trapped in enemy territory, isolated, and devoid of any remaining Chakra reserves, Kakashi knew that his current predicament was dead-end. However, he didn’t succumb to fear. As he felt his strength waning along with his lifeblood, he sighed softly, “At least… at least, I managed to save Naruto…”
While Naruto might awaken in an unfamiliar place with no easy means for anyone in Konoha to locate him, Kakashi wasn’t overly concerned. He held faith in Naruto’s resourcefulness, believing that he would find a way to endure until help arrived.
Kakashi’s words abruptly halted as he sensed someone rapidly approaching him through the cloud of dust and smoke. Although the obscurity made it challenging to identify the person, the pace of their approach left Kakashi with a strong conviction. He thought, “Shouldn’t be Nagato… In that case, if I can take one member of Akatsuki with me to the grave, that would help out Konoha a lot.” Such a grim thought crossed his mind as he hurriedly reached into his Shinobi Bag.
Whoosh! In the blink of an eye, the approaching figure burst through the veil of dust and smoke, revealing themselves before Kakashi with incredible speed. “Found you, Kakashi!” The newcomer was none other than ‘Kuroto,’ who had hastened to Kakashi after dealing with Kaguya Takashi and Biwa Jūzō.
Upon reaching Kakashi, ‘Kuroto’ noticed the Black Rod lodged in his leg. He deduced, ‘I see… it makes sense why Kakashi’s chakra suddenly became so distorted.’ Without wasting a moment, ‘Kuroto’ increased his speed and, upon arriving beside Kakashi, acted swiftly. He didn’t bother with explanations and immediately bent down to remove the Black Rod from Kakashi’s body, tossing it far away.
Simultaneously with ‘Kuroto’ removing the Black Rod from Kakashi’s leg, he felt a Kunai piercing his chest. The removal of the Black Rod meant that Kakashi’s chakra was no longer disrupted, causing Kunai’s blade to be enveloped in lightning as it penetrated through the puppet body’s chest.
“Wha–?!” ‘Kuroto’ exclaimed in shock.
“You?!” Kakashi cried out in surprise.
Both parties were caught off guard by the unexpected actions of the other. ‘Kuroto’ hadn’t anticipated Kakashi’s swift attack and was relieved that this was just a puppet. He thought, ‘Thankfully, this is just a puppet… I don’t know what might have happened if this wasn’t a puppet!’ His guard had been lowered due to Kakashi’s identity.
Kakashi, on the other hand, was equally surprised. He had never expected assistance from a member of the Akatsuki Organization and wondered, ‘Is he the ally…? But considering Asuma’s report…’ Kakashi’s confusion led to his actions.
After Asuma received medical treatment and regained his strength, he climbed to the top of the Hokage Building to provide a detailed account of the attack and his injuries. His report confirmed that the attacker was ‘Hyuga Aoki,’ a member of the Hyuga branch family who had disappeared from Konoha several months ago.
The revelation that a branch family member had managed to evade the Caged Bird Juinjutsu, a technique used to control them, was shocking. Konoha’s authorities began to consider the possibility that the Akatsuki Organization had discovered a way to break the Juinjutsu’s control over branch family members.
When Kakashi recognized the approaching figure as ‘Hyuga Aoki,’ he had no doubt that this person was not an ally. Without hesitation, he launched an attack, hoping to eliminate ‘Hyuga Aoki’ and reduce the number of enemies the village had to contend with.
Upon realizing that the figure approaching him might not be ‘Hyuga Aoki,’ Kakashi urgently asked, “Who are you?” He had a strong suspicion that this person was not Aoki but someone else entirely. The puppet body resembling Aoki suggested that the one controlling it could be anyone, not necessarily the real Aoki.
Kakashi’s instincts led him to believe that perhaps the real Aoki had been killed and someone was assuming his identity for a specific purpose. Thus, he sought clarification, asking for the person’s identity.
‘Kuroto,’ however, did not provide an answer. Instead, he maintained vigilance, keeping an eye out for any threats in their surroundings. He assisted Kakashi in standing and placed a hand on Kakashi’s shoulder.
Kakashi’s curiosity grew as he felt a remarkably gentle and potent chakra entering his body. This chakra was unlike anything he had encountered during his decades as a shinobi. It surpassed even Tsunade’s healing chakra in terms of comfort and effectiveness. Kakashi was taken aback and questioned ‘Kuroto’ with surprise, “What are you doing?”
The unfolding situation left Kakashi perplexed. Based on the reports he had received, ‘Hyuga Aoki’ or whoever was controlling the puppet had not only engaged in combat with multiple Konoha shinobi but had also killed many Anbu members and released Satori, leading to chaos and destruction in the village. Given these actions, it seemed highly unlikely that this person would come to his aid. Yet, the current circumstances directly contradicted that assumption.
Kakashi couldn’t help but wonder if there had been a falling out within the Akatsuki, leading to this unexpected turn of events. The reasons behind such a shift in allegiances remained a mystery to him.
However, before Kakashi could make sense of the situation, another figure emerged from the dust and smoke, revealing Nagato’s presence once more. As Nagato approached them step by step, ‘Kuroto’ ceased transferring chakra to Kakashi, remarking, “This should be sufficient for you.”
“With this, I can definitely last for quite a while.” Nodded Kakashi appreciatively as he accepted the hilt of Kubikiribōchō from ‘Kuroto.’
‘Kuroto’ then explained his plan, urging Kakashi to go and try to rescue the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, Killer Bee, who had taken advantage of the chaos caused by the large-scale Shinra Tensei to escape. ‘Kuroto’ recognized that Killer Bee’s chances of success were slim, especially with the presence of White Zetsu and the missing ‘Madara.’ Therefore, he hoped that Kakashi could assist Killer Bee in his escape.
Curious about ‘Kuroto’s’ intentions, Kakashi inquired, “And what are you going to do?”
‘Kuroto’ cast a determined gaze towards Nagato and replied, “Make sure that he doesn’t interfere!”
