Chapter 1100: Made it in time
The moment the purple flames surrounded the arena, the match began. Temari, staying vigilant, kept her eyes on Samsara, planning to start by testing her opponent’s abilities. It was a no-brainer to begin a fight by gauging the other’s skillset, and Temari saw no need to use her Kekkei Genkai right away, especially since she knew little about Samsara’s specialty other than her proficiency in Fuinjutsu.
With that in mind, Temari reached for her Giant Folding Fan, preparing to use it to create powerful gusts of wind. She kept her focus on Samsara, ready to initiate her Ninjutsu. However, as soon as Temari’s gaze locked with Samsara’s, the latter activated a Rinnegan Genjutsu.
In the Genjutsu, a ghostly silhouette of Samsara appeared to flow out of her body, as though her very soul had emerged. The phantom figure swiftly covered the distance between the two, piercing Temari’s heart with her bare hand, leaving her stunned. “What did you—?” Temari barely had time to process what was happening before she lost consciousness, her body dropping to her knees before collapsing on the ground with a dull thud.
“It’s over,” Samsara said calmly, not even waiting for Itachi to appear at the Arena in order to check Temari’s condition and announce the result of the match. Confident that Temari was completely knocked out, she turned and prepared to leave the arena. This made sense, as there was no way Temari could break free from a Rinnegan Genjutsu anytime soon. The fight was already over. The only thing preventing her from leaving was the Four Purple Flame Formation. She looked at the ninjas maintaining the barrier and asked, “Can you please release the formation?”
The ninjas maintaining the formation exchanged glances, then, upon receiving a nod from Itachi, dispelled the Fuinjutsu. With the barrier gone, Samsara calmly left the arena.
Meanwhile, Itachi appeared in the arena and checked Temari’s condition. After confirming that she was completely unconscious and wouldn’t wake up anytime soon, he announced the result: “The winner of this match is Amegakure’s Samsara!”
It wasn’t until Itachi announced the result that the audience fully processed what had just happened moments ago.
The most shocked were undoubtedly the Sunagakure ninjas.
“Temari-sama lost?”
“No! Not just lost… she couldn’t even put up a fight. It was over before it even began!”“What the hell did Samsara do? How could Temari lose consciousness so quickly?”
To the Sunagakure ninjas, it looked like Samsara did nothing at all. From beginning to end, she neither spoke nor used any hand signs to cast a Jutsu. It appeared as if Temari had collapsed on her own, which obviously couldn’t be true—Amegakure’s Samsara must have done something. The problem was, they couldn’t immediately figure out how Temari had lost consciousness so suddenly.
Itsuki frowned, murmuring, “A Visual Genjutsu?”
That was the only logical explanation that made sense to him. Samsara didn’t move a finger during the match, and the way Temari collapsed suggested she had been placed under a Genjutsu. Since Samsara didn’t weave any hand signs or use any other medium to cast it, a Visual Genjutsu seemed like the only possibility.
‘But to cast a Visual Genjutsu, you need a Dōjutsu… Does Samsara of Amegakure possess one? Could it be the Sharingan of the Uchiha Clan?’
In his mind, this theory made sense. The Uchiha Clan was renowned and feared for its powerful Visual Genjutsu. Aside from the Uchiha’s Sharingan, Itsuki wasn’t aware of any other Dōjutsu capable of such a technique. Samsara must possess the Sharingan… but…
‘How is that possible? Why would an Amegakure Kunoichi have the Uchiha’s Sharingan?’ It didn’t add up for him.
It wasn’t just Itsuki of Sunagakure who was starting to speculate about Samsara’s origin and techniques, but others in the audience were doing the same. Temari’s sudden defeat was something no one had expected… it’s no problem to defeat Temari… but to defeat this badly? Temari wasn’t even able to put up a fight and lost the fight in less than ten seconds, this was beyond everyone’s expectations.
…
In the VIP Stand
Pakura stood up in shock. “How can this be? What did Samsara do?” Even the Godaime Kazekage of Sunagakure, with all her strength and experience, was in disbelief.
The other Kages weren’t much different. While they didn’t react as openly as Pakura, their furrowed brows made it clear they were just as baffled.
These Kages had insider information about Sunagakure and knew that Temari had mastered the Scorch Release and was being trained by Pakura to be the next Kazekage. In this regard, Pakura’s position and status was similar to Deidara of Iwagakure and Darui of Kumogakure. None of the Kages considered Temari inexperienced or weak. Though young, she had been a Genin for over five years—ample time to develop significant skills. Given her personal training by the Kazekage and mastery of the Scorch Release Kekkei Genkai, they believed her strength was no less than that of an elite Jōnin. Yet, this formidable kunoichi had been defeated in under ten seconds.
“Just how strong is Samsara’s Genjutsu?” Raikage muttered, his expression growing grim. This development troubled him greatly, as he had been planning to eliminate Raijin for some time now. The strength of Raijin’s squad members, Samsara and Tengu, was a key factor in that plan. If they were as formidable as they seemed, assassinating Raijin would prove to be a much greater challenge than anticipated.
“I reckon she might be as good as Uchiha Shisui when it comes to Genjutsu,” Ōnoki remarked, his gaze sharp with scrutiny. Naturally, he too was concerned about Samsara’s strength—not because he intended to eliminate Raijin, but because the strength of ninjas from non-allied villages was always a matter of concern. What puzzled him most was that Samsara hadn’t weaved any hand signs when casting the Genjutsu.
‘Did she use a Visual Genjutsu?’ Ōnoki wondered, intrigued. If that was the case, he was curious about the Dōjutsu Samsara might possess.
Unlike the shocked Kazekage, the grim Raikage, or the thoughtful Tsuchikage, the Hokage wasn’t particularly surprised. He merely squinted as he watched Samsara leave the arena. After all, ‘Kuroto’ knew Samsara was a member of the organization and possessed the Rinnegan, so it wasn’t shocking to him that she could end the fight against Temari in under ten seconds. What did surprise him, albeit only slightly, was her use of Genjutsu to defeat Temari. But even that was a minor surprise, nothing significant.
Similarly, the Mizukage remained unaffected and stoic. Yagura’s lack of reaction didn’t mean he had any insider knowledge of Samsara’s powers, no, he did not know that Samsara possessed the Rinnegan. It was simply that he didn’t care too much about the outcome of this match and wanted to move on to the next match.
…
At the Arena
While the audience was still reeling from the shocking ease with which Samsara defeated Temari, Itachi drew everyone’s attention as he prepared to announce the next match. His voice cut through the murmurs of disbelief, ” Tengu of Amegakure and Hōzuki Suigetsu of Kirigakure. Please ste–…”
Swish!
Before Itachi could finish announcing the next match, a kunai suddenly fell from the sky, embedding itself in the center of the arena.
In an instant, all eyes—including Itachi’s—were drawn to the kunai that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
Sha!
A split second later, in front of the entire crowd, a silver flash lit up the arena as Kakashi and Sasuke materialized out of thin air.
“Looks like we made it just in time,” Kakashi murmured with a lazy smile, glancing at the stunned expressions of the people in the stands.
