Reborn into Naruto World with Tenseigan

Chapter 1062: The Central Tower!

“What should we do next?” asked Samsara.

Deactivating the pair of Sharingan in his eye sockets, Raijin pondered for a moment, then said, “Let’s go to the Central Tower,” and jumped forward as he headed toward the Tower at the center of the Forest of Death.

Samsara and Tengu naturally did not have any opinions in this regard and followed him to the Tower. Since their squad had already collected a pair of Heaven & Earth scrolls after their battle against the Kumogakure squad, they did not have to spend any time searching for the missing scroll, they had completed the condition for passing the second phase of the exam, and what’s left is to reach the Central Tower.

Once the Amegakure squad and Kusagakure’s Kunoichi left, Kakashi, Shisui, and Shinichi appeared on the deserted battlefield.

Looking around, the three of them were silent.

As far as the eye can see, there are crisscrossing ravines of varying depths, along with large and small potholes. In particular, where the Giant Snake Garaga fiercely battled the Giant Boar Okina Buta, there are numerous massive depressions.

The air is filled with the smell of burning, and trees that have been charred to black charcoal, emitting green smoke, can be seen everywhere. These trees are either swaying here and there, half-embedded in the mud, or overturned and reduced to piles of indistinguishable charcoal.

What’s strange is that besides the trees with flickering sparks and bursts of green smoke, there are also large areas of condensed crystals and small water puddles with floating ice chunks.

Having watched the entire battle with his eyes, Shinichi mumbled, “These children have grown up.”

Kakashi sighed, “I have a feeling that this Chūnin Promotion Exam is not suitable for most of the Genins that graduated this year.”

The likes of Naruto, Sasuke, Neji, Mika, Kiyomi, and Lee—some of the strongest Genin of this year—were pushed into such a desperate situation. Not to mention, other Genin who are nowhere near as strong might actually die, and this made Kakashi worried.

But it was too late since they were all already participating in the Exam, so nothing could be done at this point.

Shisui seemed to want to say something in response to Kakashi’s sigh but shook his head and remained silent. Instead, he turned to Shinichi and instructed, “Let’s go. We can’t leave Naruto unwatched for too long.”

Shinichi nodded, “Hn.”

With that, Shisui and Shinichi nodded to Kakashi and left the battlefield to follow Naruto and the others. Meanwhile, Kakashi knew he couldn’t waste time, so he too disappeared in a silver flash to join the other Jōnin keeping watch over Fū of Takigakure.

On the way to the central guard tower, their path was clear.

Almost all the teams they encountered fled. One team even set up a trap but ran away in panic when they saw it was them, not even bothering to activate it. Taking advantage of this respite, Raijin thought about Sasuke’s awakening of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

When Orochimaru tormented Sasuke earlier, the Sharingan in Sasuke’s eyes showed signs of changing and evolving due to emotional agitation. Raijin is certain of this since he was closely observing Sasuke’s condition the entire time. However, the fact that the Sharingan failed to fully evolve indicates that what Sasuke experienced during the second phase of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam is not sufficient.

Naturally, this outcome is within Raijin’s expectations.

The threat of death and the desire to live is the greatest emotional stimulus for ordinary people, but for an Uchiha, it is not the most effective trigger for awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan. From Uchiha Madara to Obito, Shisui, Shinichi, Itachi, Ryota, Hideki, and others, none awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan due to a threat of death.

Today’s events once again validated Raijin’s analysis of the Uchiha clan.

The most effective stimulating emotion for each Uchiha varies, but the simple threat of death is not the best trigger for any of them. Their brain circuits differ somewhat from those of ordinary people.

In this regard, Raijin has no concerns, as his plan for Sasuke seems to be going well.

When Naruto suddenly attacked Raijin using the power of the Nine-Tails, a part of Raijin’s mask was chipped, revealing the eyes hidden beneath it. Sasuke happened to notice one of these eyes. Though Sasuke’s mind was not clear at that moment, as he was being choked and losing consciousness, Raijin believed he would not forget what he saw.

In fact, before the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam began, Raijin had already hinted to Sasuke that he possessed a pair of Sharingan.

Now that the hint has been confirmed, Sasuke will undoubtedly be concerned about this pair of Sharingan. He would speculate wildly, considering all possibilities and seeking answers. That’s when Raijin will seal the deal by revealing the truth.

If Sasuke learns that his father’s eyes, which he desperately wishes to recover from the hands of Amatsukami, are right in front of him but he is powerless to do anything about it, he will feel despair.

Of course, before that, Sasuke would need to discover that Raijin is actually a member of Amatsukami and that he and his family have been manipulated for the amusement of others. Once he learns this, all his accumulated emotions, stress, frustration, and helplessness would explode, triggering the awakening of his Mangekyō Sharingan.

The plan is foolproof, and all the groundwork has been laid perfectly. All that’s left is the finale, which will hopefully proceed as Raijin intends.

‘Sigh, the things I do for these children…’ Having such thoughts Raijin and his squad arrived at the Central Tower.

After going through the basic formalities, Raijin, Samsara, and Tengu arrived at the resting area and discovered that one more team had already completed the second phase of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam, and they seemed to be waiting at the resting room for quite a while now.

“Unexpectedly, it’s Shion, Hinata, and Yakumo,” thought Raijin as he took a seat with Samsara and Tengu, not bothering to pay more attention to the three kunoichi than necessary.

Of course, just because Raijin did not bother does not mean that Shion, Hinata, and Yakumo were not concerned. From time to time, they glanced in his direction with vigilant expressions. The feud Raijin had with Sasuke, Naruto, and Mika before the start of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam was still very fresh in their memory, making them unwilling to let down their guard for fear he might suddenly attack.

Raijin felt a bit helpless in this regard. Obviously, his performance so far has attracted the attention of many people, making him the embodiment of the villainous boss among the candidates, Ultimately, he decided to ignore their vigilance and quietly waited for more teams to qualify and arrive at the Central Tower.

Unlike Raijin, Samsara and Tengu appeared interested in Shion, Hinata, and Yakumo. After all, the three Kunoichis were from Konohagakure, and one of them happened to be from Kuroto’s clan. Naturally, this piqued their interest. However, given their current identities, they had to curb their curiosity and interest, silently sitting beside Raijin, lest they might reveal something that they should not, and it would bring trouble to Kuroto.
