Chapter 661: First themed ride
Chapter 661: First themed ride
Michael eyed the tentacle shedding and realized that it looked exactly like it came from Cthulhu itself.
Although this looked a little small, he knew first hand that Cthulhu’s tentacles were as thick and tall as skyscrapers, but its ends were incredibly thin and reached down to the thickness of a human person.
And this looked exactly like the ends of Cthulhu’s tentacles. There was no doubt about it.
This shedding and that leviathan carcass… was this on purpose?
It almost seemed as if Cthulhu knew exactly what he needed and gave it to him at the very same moment.
Is he spying on me or something?
[No, I just told him to do that. You said you needed a preserved sea monster carcass, so who better to ask than the literal primordial beast of the sea?]
It seemed that Harbinger talked with Cthulhu without his knowledge.
Well, it’s good to have it, I guess.
He accepted all of the carcasses Quint got him and offered to pay about 10 million gold coins for all of them. But despite such a high price point, Quint refused to take even a single gold coin!
“Tsh! I don’t need money. I’m just doing this for the love of the game! And this was a once in a lifetime opportunity! I doubt I would ever get to catch such beautiful monsters ever again!”
He was reminded that Quint was the father of Reptar, who owned a very successful company in Metropolis. They definitely weren’t poor, despite the shabbiness of his shop.
He thanked Quint and went back to the Nation of Reborn to continue his work.
While the Rebornians were busy building the foundation for the entire rollercoaster, he busied himself with creating the magical animatronics that would be the skeleton for the sea monster carcasses.
He wanted to combine mechanics, magic, and nature to create a very realistic recreation of the Leviathan and Cthulhu as well.
He used the techniques he learned from the Magic Tower, creating a layered magic spell that allowed him to bring Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and finally, Light into the skeletal structure he was going to build.
[Downloading mastery of robotics into your brain…]
Thanks to ChatJK5, he was able to create a flexible yet rigid structure. The ’Leviathan’ animatronic would be able to close and open its jaws freely and with great force, creating a terrifying crunch that could shatter even the strongest armors.
As for its body, he based its anatomy on the body of an eel. He used the way contracted its muscles to swim across the ocean at incredibly fast speeds, with its fins controlling its movement to the right or left.
Once the basic structure was done, he didn’t forget to add the little details. That was what would truly make this animatronic believable.
And thankfully, he had his own memory to rely on.
He remembered how the small fins on its back waved in accordance to its movement, the way its scales flared up when angry, and the way that each bony structure in its face became the product of peak evolution that focused on hunting its prey.
He molded all of that into the animatronic, eventually forming a monster that could swallow an entire school bus with ease.
Once that was done, he began filling it in with the carcass he got from Quint.
He laid out its skin, stretching it to fill the entirety of the animatronic. He spliced off some of its body parts and filled in the little details to make it as horrifying as possible.
And in the end, with ChatJK5 helping him through every step of the way, he was able to recreate the Leviathan.
“There’s just one last thing to check.”
He casted a spell, manipulating the Leviathan’s skeletal structure to move in a certain way.
Suddenly, the animatronic came to life, its red eyes blinking and its jaws opening to reveal its sharp fangs. It lunged at him, making him flash back to that memory in the void.
If he didn’t know any better, then he would have also been fooled by it.
The best part about this was that because the Leviathan was made out of a magical skeleton, its movements were completely programmable. It could move in a completely different way in every single ride.
It’s done!
Next, he needed to set the stage in which his Leviathan would rampage in.
He began working on the rollercoaster itself, becoming as hands-on as possible. And with his help, they were able to finish the entire thing in just under a day.
He was able to create a closed aquarium that could house millions upon millions of tons of water.
This ride was going to be one of those splash-heavy attractions since they would be plunging into the water at some point.
He didn’t need any testing for this because he was already confident in its outcome. After all, he based the entire trajectory of the ride on his experience in Nixie’s subconscious void. He knew first-hand how terrifying it was.
Kong and the other engineers were in charge of the decoration, creating bioluminescent corals, seaweeds, and other such designs to make the ride look as realistic as possible.
Once that was done, there was just one last thing to tackle. This was perhaps the most important aspect of this rollercoaster as it would dictate everyone’s perception of the ride.
It was the recreation of Cthulhu. It would be the very face of the ride.
Of course, he couldn’t make it life-sized, so he had to size it down a little bit. But still, everyone would have to look up to see the statue in its entirety.
He used the magical skeleton to create its face, its giant squirming tentacles, and even its fully functioning wings on its back.
And for the final finishing touches, he added Cthulhu’s real shedding skin to cover the entire structure.
As soon as he laid the final patch, he felt a minute, almost imperceptible shockwave coming from the statue.
Everyone working on the rollercoaster froze and looked up at Cthulhu with fear in their eyes. Even though they’d been working on this the entire time, they now doubted whether it was really just a statue or not.
Even Michael felt as if he was in the presence of Cthulhu itself.
Adding a real part of Cthulhu in this animatronic really pushed it to the next level.
After seeing the finished result, he could only pat himself on the back for a job well done. Working three days without sleep was well worth it.
The ride looked absolutely magnificent. It was miles better than his first rollercoaster, and it was even better than the themed rides he saw in his previous world.
It still needed a little bit of testing, but he could safely say that it was done.
All he needed to do now was give it a proper name.
“Into Cthulhu’s Void,” he muttered.
This would be the first ride that would be implemented in his planned theme park.
But this ride’s importance wasn’t just because of that. It was because he specifically created this with Nixie in mind.
This could mend her broken Dao Heart.
