Chapter 1824: Chapter 1826: Bustling House Construction
The next day, Xiaoxiao asked her family for their opinions.
As soon as the family heard they were going to build a house, they couldn’t keep their mouths shut from grinning.
"That’s great, finally we are building a house."
"Isn’t it? Soon we’ll be able to live in a spacious big house, like the Village Chief’s blue-brick house."
"Our house is much more grand, didn’t you see the drawing by our third sister-in-law? That’s nine big courtyards."
"Yes, yes, yes!"
"..."
"..."
Everyone was chattering away, but the essence was summed up in two words: happiness.
Xiaoxiao went over the details of what kind of house they were going to build with everyone once more.
"The house is basically going to be built like this. What I just described is the yard for Yang Ming and me. Do any of you have your own ideas? Let me know, and I can help design it for you!"
The family was thrilled with the house Xiaoxiao described, there was no way they would have any objections.
There were even bathrooms and a parlor. It couldn’t possibly be better.
The kids even had a study room; it’s practically a place where fairies live.
What they valued the most was the heated wall, as they had been freezing all these years, and it was only this year they got to use a warm kang bed-stove.
But nothing warmed them as much as this heated wall!
"This house is fantastic, I have no objections."
"Neither do I!"
"..."
"..."
Seeing that everyone had no objections, Xiaoxiao spoke, "Then we’ll start building the house. You don’t have to worry about it; Yang Ming and I will find people to do it. Once it’s built, you can just move in."
So it was settled. Because of this matter, Xiaoxiao even returned to Stone Village to ask her parents to reserve some stones for building the house.
Her family had no problem with it, especially since Stone Mountain was active once again. The stones were being blasted down quickly, then workers would cut them into sizes suited for construction. With lots of people, work was done quickly; and since many houses need to be built, it took time. The stones didn’t need to be delivered all at once, just carried over as needed.
Afterwards, Xiaoxiao and Yang Ming went to the County to find specialized house builders. The builders were straightforward since they worked for the money. They were even surprised by Xiaoxiao’s plans; such a large courtyard in the countryside was unexpected.
They promptly came back to the village with Yang Ming to see the site and even brought a feng shui master to check the feng shui of the house.
Xiaoxiao didn’t believe in these things, but the builders did, to prevent any mishaps during the construction.
Since that was the case, Xiaoxiao didn’t argue, just let them see the feng shui.
Unexpectedly, the feng shui master said it was a treasure land. The Yang Family was even happier, as they were native to the area and believed in it more.
The master builder’s surname was Zhou, and everyone called him Master Zhou. He had a team of more than ten specialized builders, all craftsmen.
As for other manual labor, they would hire local people wherever they built.
This kind of team was not much different from modern outsourcing.
Xiaoxiao thought it was quite convenient, as it was like an outsourced project making it hassle-free.
Master Zhou said that once his team arrived, they would set up a simple tent at the construction site for accommodation, but meals needed to be arranged by the Yang Family.
Of course, Xiaoxiao agreed, otherwise they would have to provide meals to the other hired laborers too.
Both parties discussed the house matters for an entire afternoon, and it was settled.
The next day, Master Zhou brought his team to Yang Family village.
While the Yang Family was busily building their house, something happened at the Guo Mansion.
