Chapter 2561: Proposal
Chapter 2561: Proposal
*TONG*
*TONG*
The sound of the bowstring reverberated through the empty training ground. Except for Parth no one else was there.
Once again, he pulled the empty bow, without any energy. Purely with physical effort. His face is serene as if he was not wielding a deadly weapon, but rather doing meditation... In a way, for Parth, both are about the same.
With every pull, a leaf fell from the tree, gently.
Sam and the kid who guided him arrived there. The kid was about to call out for Parth. Sam stopped him and sent him away.
He just stood there, not disturbing Parth at all. He just watched the training. There was a faint smile and a spark in his eyes as he saw Parth gently, slowly and intently pulling the string and making it vibrate.
Such a monotonous action. But done with so much dedication. The fact that Parth wasn’t even using his spiritual energy and only physical strength, to practice such a basic move.
Sam was beyond impressed.
But what truly caught his eye was the reaction of the leaves on the tree for every one of his moves.
Without any interaction, the leaf fell.
Sam grinned like a kid in a candy store as he saw it.
But he didn’t dare make a sound.
He just watched and tried to comprehend how Parth accomplished it. He stood there for fifteen minutes, but Sam didn’t get the trick behind it. But still he just watched in delight.
After fifteen minutes, Parth stopped the practice, and walked towards Sam. He was glistening with sweat, almost drenched.
"I can’t believe the strongest warrior of Darkhan still practices such basic archery."
"As you know, what else is there in combat other than basics?"
"True that. This is the first time I saw such profound archery, with such basic moves. I am a decent archer myself, so I can see how perfect the technique is.
You must have gone through hell and back to master it."
Parth smiled as he looked at the tree. He had been practicing this for years. Only a few people knew how much hard work it took. A tree full of leaves, dropped every day, regrown overnight and doing it all over again the next day.
Millions of draws...
"It was alright. It was enjoyable and it was worth it."
"Of course it is.
Anyway, I came to install the exchange center. It is done. Do you want to check it out?"
"I will see it eventually.
Meanwhile, I want to ask you... you use so many weapons, what’s your main one."
"Well... if there has to be one... maybe its my sword?" Sam took out the reaper sword and showed it to him before he continued speaking.
"It is not that I am more proficient at it... I just weapons based on my convenience at that time and reaper kinda solves most of the situations.
My skill level is pretty equal in almost all the weapons."
"That is very rare. I saw it from your battle that your skill level is indeed high in all weapons.
So, how about it? Want to show me how good your archery is?"
"It would be pretty embarrassing to show off my skills in front of you. But why not. I might as well get a lesson."
Sam took out his bow.
"The target?"
"You can use the tree. It will be healed tonight."
"Thank you."
Sam got into his stance. He didn’t use his spiritual energy, he took out a normal arrow and used his physical strength to normally shoot it.
The arrow whistled through the air and landed on the trunk of the tree.
Parth didn’t say anything and just stood there observing.
Sam nocked another arrow and shot at the exact same target. It cut through the first arrow and landed on the exact same spot.
Followed by another arrow, followed by another... Sam did ten shots consecutively like this. But Parth still didn’t say anything.
Of course, Sam knew why.
This might be impressive if done by mortals, but not at their level. Of course, Sam wasn’t showing off just this. It was just a warm up.
He shot another arrow, this time, it didn’t completely pierce through the previous arrow. It only went halfway through and got stuck there. He shot another arrow in a similar way... it got stuck on the second one.
Next Sam took out two arrows. Both of them flew at the same time, they hit the back of the third arrow and lodged into the tree....
Parth finally showed a change in expression.
Sam ignored him and kept shooting. The arrows got attached together, creating a frame of sorts. Almost like a screen it extended until Sam connected it to the tree next to it.
It was like a fence to be precise. A fence of arrows, connected between two trees, but not a single one touched the ground. It was only between the two trees and it was hanging by two arrows lodged on both the trees.
Sam shot another arrow, this time directly at the fence and even with a bit of spiritual energy.
As it hit the energy dissipated into the arrow fence. The fence glowed with energy of its own... and it blocked the arrow.
"A formation?" Parth was surprised. He couldn’t keep the calm expression anymore.
Sam smiled. He pulled another arrow and shot. This time, it is way off the fence and was aimed at the tree.
The arrow gently cut just one left of the tree. It gently fell on top of the fence, at a specific spot...
*CRASH*
The arrow fence collapsed.
Parth raised an eyebrow at this and said.
"You are being modest, Sam. You are great at archery."
"I don’t dare claim greatness, while I am in your presence. Thanks for the compliment anyway."
Parth just smiled in response.
"I really wish, I met you a couple of centuries earlier though."
"Why is that?"
"Growing up with you would have been a lot more entertaining and a lot less lonely."
Sam stayed silent... Parth too after a couple of seconds, continued.
"Do you want to be my student Sam?"
