Chapter 943: New Directives
Chapter 943: New Directives
…he breathed in.
The [Still Heart] pulsed again.
And with deliberate force, he calmed the rage storming through his bones.
<I understand.>
His voice dropped to something lower.
But no less powerful.
<Bear it a little longer, Jasmine. Just a little. I swear to you… I’ll not only rescue you from that man’s clutches, but I’ll also bring your mother out too. I’ll give you both the freedom that you deserve.>
A pause occurred in their conversation as Jasmine’s heart was way too overwhelmed to mount a response.
Then, he added more softly:
<You’ll never have to lower your head again to anyone in your whole life, my gorgeous Tyrant of Trade. That I promise.>
And somewhere far away, a woman wept silently in the dark… Her fingers clenched her dirty skirt. Her knees folded beneath her. But in her soul, she felt hope bloom like dawn.
He was back. Finally, he was back.
Quinlan glanced to his side, where Vex was watching him with rapt attention. She hadn’t said a word during the whole silent exchange, but her eyes had never left him once.
<…Vex.>
She straightened at the call, her smile fading just a little as seriousness settled into her expression, hearing his grave tone. The yandere storm calmed. She became still. Sharp.
<I’m going to murder Aurelion.>
Vex didn’t even blink as she said, <Okay.>
<I need you to contact Black Fang. Tell her I’m requesting that she backs me up on this. Since Aurelion is one of the key dogs of the Finance Department Head, I’d rather go in as prepared as possible. Furthermore, I want her to know that this is personal and that I’m not going to be dissuaded. I’m not seeking her permission, just giving her a heads up, because if I do get found out, it’s also going to cause her a lot of problems. She’s my official sponsor, after all.>
<The problem… is Jasmine’s mother. I don’t know where she is. If I did, I’d already be there. But he’s kept her hidden for decades. A piece of leverage he uses freely. I can’t move until I know she’s safe.>
Vex nodded, all traces of teasing and flirtation gone from her delicate features. Her voice rang through [Master’s Link], clear and composed.
<I’ll contact Black Fang. She may be a cold-hearted, utterly unhinged bitch sometimes, well, oftentimes, but she knows the value of loyalty and family. I don’t believe she’s going to oppose you on this.>
Jasmine, still listening from her dim prison, whispered so softly it almost got lost in the connection:
<…Thank you, Vex.>
The Hexwitch tilted her head to the side with a soft smile blooming on her lips.
<Don’t be silly. I might want to monopolize Quin all to myself from time to time, but I’m also a proud member of the Elysiar gang. I fully accept you girls as my sisters, and let it be known that I’d rather die than abandon any of you.>
Next, her tender tone hardened, becoming cold and resolute:
<And if Black Fang refuses for one reason or another, I’ll dig up your mother’s location myself. I have my own web of ears. I’ll find her.>
Quinlan met her eyes then. There was no raging, wrathful inferno boiling in his gaze this time. Only gratitude. Pure, raw affection radiated from his elemental eyes.
<Thank you.>
The words were simple, but the sentiment behind them wasn’t.
Vex’s cheeks flushed with warmth under his gaze, and she gave him a big, toothy grin that, for once, carried no chaos, only pride and affection.
“Anything for you,” she whispered aloud, and then spun on her heel. She strode away from the courtyard, withdrawing her communication artifact as it pulsed to life in her hand.
Just as Vex vanished into the hallway with the communication artifact in hand, a voice cut across the [Master’s Link] with surprising weight.
<Quinlan.>
He straightened unconsciously.
<I won’t forgive myself if you ruin this long-awaited reunion with the girls because of my situation.>
He opened his mouth to speak, but she didn’t let him.
<Yes, my father is a cruel pig who deserves to be castrated and then tossed to the wolves. Yes, I want out. But I’m not dying. Not starving. Not being tortured. And if that changes, I’ll tell you. I promise.>
A pause.
<But right now, your family is here. The women who’ve waited so long. Don’t let them be overshadowed by me. As your woman… I have only one request.>
Her voice softened, but it didn’t lose its resolve.
<Give each and every one of them the love they deserve. The love they’ve been craving in your absence. Don’t hold back. Not even a little.>
Silence followed.
A grin that made the girls shiver unconsciously emerged slowly on his lips. It was cocky like never before, letting the full weight of his confidence settle in his aura.
<I hear you, Jas. Loud and clear.>
He rolled his neck, fire swirling again in his core. It was the stance of a man fully prepared to fulfill his familial duties.
<I’m going to give these precious existences the mating of a lifetime.>
A giggle echoed through the [Master’s Link], sultry and amused.
<Good. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. Go get them, Quin. Don’t you dare neglect a single one.>
Quinlan’s grin widened.
It was sharp. Confident. Dangerous.
A grin that made every woman in the courtyard unconsciously shiver. A kind of anticipation that prickled the skin, curled the toes, and lit a slow-burning fire in their feminine cores hit all of them at once.
He straightened, placed a fist to his chest, and gave a slow, solemn salute, like a soldier receiving divine orders.
Then, one by one, he turned his gaze to each of them.
Blossom. Seraphiel. Aurora. Lucille. Ayame. Kitsara. Vex.
Each girl felt it: that deep, primal promise wrapped in affection and dominance both. Their spines straightened. Their lips parted. Their wombs shivered in subconscious response, instincts older than memory waking within them.
A promise was made with no further words.
Only a final, unshakable vow.
“Yes, ma’am.”
