Chapter 819: Lady Enzi
Chapter 819: Lady Enzi
[Inner Section – Grand Hall]
*Step* *Step*
A crisp step echoed in the grand hall.
Wherever she stepped, the sound produced sounded like a glass breaking.
Even the way her body swayed, the movement of her hand caused the space around her to crack like glass and repair almost instantly.
Elder Lance, who had seen the death of the six elders, stood there frozen, too scared to turn and look at the danger coming from behind him.
Supreme Elder Esper, on the other hand, didn’t have the luxury of not looking at who was coming, for he was already facing the door.
So when the gorgeous lady entered the hall, he saw her, and his heart skipped a beat.
Of course, any man would have his heart skip a few beats when they laid eyes on the beauty that had entered the hall.
However, Supreme Elder Esper didn’t have the luxury of admiring her that way. His heart skipped a beat, not for her beauty, but recognition of her, and that alone terrified him.
Anybody in his shoes who knew the lady who had just entered the hall will feel the same way, for they know what she is capable of.
While the past 200 years had been the best of his life, today he was terrified, and he would remain so for a while before finding his peace again.
The Mistress of Mirrors, the one rumored even to have the power to dethrone the strongest in the Alliance, had just walked into his Grand Hall. As someone who had seen her in action and knew her character, he immediately stood up.
“Supre—Lady Enzi.”
He dared not call her Supreme Elder Enzi, for he knew it would be detrimental to him. He moved away from his seat, and as expected, Lady Enzi moved past Elder Lance without even a glance and sat down.
The Mistress of Mirrors was beauty in her own right, with pale ivory skin with an opalescent sheen—the kind that isn’t common even when all of the Ivy Star System is taken into consideration.
She had long, dark hair with silky strands of silvery blue that shimmered faintly, like moonlight on water.
Slender and graceful by all standards.
Of course, her long ears showed her Elven heritage. However, she was no simple elf.
Lady Enzi hailed from a non-Alliance world, one where only the Moonborn Elves lived. It was a small world with fewer than 100,000 elves.
Finding her kind isn’t something that can be achieved easily, but thanks to her, this small non-Alliance world continued to live in peace.
The last time another world tried to lay its hands on her people, half of the intruders’ world shattered like glass.
Now she sat on the throne of a dragon, but Supreme Elder Esper could only bow his head in respect, for he wouldn’t want what happened to Supreme Elder Jian to happen to him.
“Tell me more about this Kent Madson,” she said, directing her words at Elder Lance. The humble elder swallowed nervously and answered.
“He is a human, 21 years old. Of course, I couldn’t confirm that age yet, but he had already reached the Level 3 Core Formation stage.
I don’t know much about him, but when I went to supervise the Flame Tower trial, he was with the half-elves. He topped the ranking, climbing to the 5th level and mastering twelve divine-grade techniques in under an hour.
The half-elves seem to value him, and now it seems most of the races in Sonox hold him in high esteem.
Of course, it might just be because they want to learn the divine-grade techniques from him, which is why they are showing him this respect.”
“So you don’t know much about him,” Lady Enzi asked, and Elder Lance nodded.
“Not much is known about him, even to the half-elves,” Elder Lance said, and Lady Enzi sighed.
“Go to the human continent and see if you can learn something about him. You have a month.” Elder Lance nodded, bowed, and walked away.
When he was outside, he sighed, wiped the sweat off his forehead, and moved straight to a teleportation formation. He wanted to go to his world first, but as it stood, he might as well look into Lady Enzi’s assignment first.
Nobody wants to be on her bad side after all.
Back inside the grand hall, Lady Enzi turned to Elder Mikko. “Go handle the entrance exams. I will be there to supervise.”
The elder bowed and left, doing the same thing Elder Lance did. She didn’t want to admit it, but she kind of admired the woman and would be happy if she could become her sworn sister.
However, she was an Eaglekin; they and the Elves don’t share a great history.
The pointy ears used to use her kind as target practice back in the day, and so deep down in her heart, she hated elves. But she was just scared of this one.
She called five Inner disciples from her Law Enforcement Hall to escort her to handle the entrance exams.
Inside the grand hall, Lady Enzi looked at Supreme Elder Esper and smirked.
“You couldn’t even look after your own elders, and let such rot happen in the sect. Do you perhaps not see the sect as a place that requires disciplined leaders?
Had it not been for that human elder, their actions would have gone unnoticed with mere pats on the back. I can’t say I’m disappointed, for I should have done a purge years ago.
But I am back now, and you should pray there are no skeletons in your closet—all of you.” She stood up and walked forward, then stopped.
“Before going to bed next time, thank that elder for saving your ass today. But there won’t be a next time.”
With a step, the space before her shattered like glass, and she vanished. It was only after the space repaired itself that everyone sighed.
However, her last words remained in their heads. It was almost like she was unhappy for letting them live, and that alone scared the hell out of them.
“You all should get to work. At the end of the day, I want all corrupt elders locked up inside the hell prison. Of course, if you are corrupt yourself, then you know where to lock yourself.
That was the Mistress of Mirrors, and to those of you who don’t know her, listen well…
She doesn’t care about your family, your mother, or your father.
Her words are final and must be taken in good grace. If you even think of doing anything that doesn’t follow sect rules, be sure to prepare to die like glass shattering, for she is the Mistress of Mirrors and she has eyes everywhere.”
—
The Mistress of Mirrors appeared in the outer section, disguised as an ordinary elder. She walked through the section, examining everything.
A few seconds later, a smile appeared on her face.
“One way to exaggerate it, Esper, but I do have eyes everywhere.” She gazed at the sect entrance and sighed…
“Now, this Kent Madson, it’s time for me to see what you are capable of and look for who has this cold flame that even brought me out of seclusion.”
