Chapter 765 - 765: Start To Climb
Kent walked through the gates of the tower with a calm expression and steady steps.
Walking through the gate, he felt a powerful presence wash over him. It felt soothing yet strong and dangerous. However, when the presence found he held a token, the token just vanished, and Kent appeared inside.
‘Looks like medium worlds aren’t as simple as I thought. Vexthra already said sending me to a medium world has a reason behind it. I think this is one of them.’
He was ready for it.
He had already prepared for every path this journey would take him while he waited for the apocalypse gates to open.
Kent, just like everyone else, appeared at the first step of the giant tower. It looked impossible, extending several steps high.
“This is it, huh?” Norion said, looking at Kent.
“Indeed. Like we discussed, focus on climbing, adapting, and improving yourself first. The techniques will come naturally when you are ready.”
They nodded, and Kent nodded back.
Already, many were on the 30th step and moving while they remained on the first step for 10 minutes. Only then did Kent gesture for them to move.
“Only take the pill when you genuinely can’t move again.”
They nodded and started to climb. The first few steps wouldn’t be a problem for them. Kent watched them go and nodded with satisfaction. He waited for a couple of minutes before he was ready to climb.
‘Alright. Time to break the Flame Tower.’
Kent moved and started climbing, just like everyone else. The steps were large enough to accommodate hundreds of climbers.
So he moved, and soon he was on the 20th step. The infernal energy on the step kept increasing as he moved, but it wasn’t to the point he couldn’t handle, since even on the 20th step, the flame energy there couldn’t be compared to the inner region of the Flame Valley.
Kent had to keep moving, watching as the energy in the space rose and continued to rise until he began to feel something.
It was then he noticed he had reached the 50th step.
Of course, he was still the last on the steps, but Kent didn’t mind.
His plans for entering the tower extended further than merely gaining some techniques. His plans revolved around the fact that all the youngsters on the steps were potential soul essence.
With the addition of [Guardian Hand] and [Guardian Allies], he soon realized he would have to make a few more people his allies, which to him went far beyond mere companions.
To him, this would be a way to increase the soul essence they would be giving him. He wasn’t looking to make everyone inside the flame tower his ally.
The plan is to see those with whom he resonates. He felt something when he met the three half-elves, and the same happened when he met Uncle Drake.
So he was looking to find more. Of course, he has the means to help all of them. But Kent is no charity work. He only helps those he wants and ignores those he doesn’t need.
A dragon can only be generous to some extent. This time, he planned to strengthen himself to the point that High Worlds wouldn’t be a threat to him.
For now, Spirit Lord and Heavenly Ascension stage experts were still outside his reach, but Kent knew that to live the life he wanted for himself, he had to bridge that gap somehow.
The ‘Soul Universe’ was the answer on one hand, and his ‘Primal Chaos Body Tempering Art’ was another. Not forgetting his Claw Art, which he had yet to learn. If anything, Kent was already making headway.
But more soul essence wouldn’t hurt.
Soon, he was on the 60th step, and that was when he saw some people struggling on the 80th floor. They wanted to sweat, but their sweat was being dried as it came.
It was the bitter kind of frustration they were going through.
“Weaklings. They couldn’t even get to the first level without making it look too obvious,” Kent smirked, watching them slowly move, putting all their effort into at least getting to the first level.
If they got there, their chances of learning a heavenly-grade technique would be determined by how determined they were. But if they couldn’t even get to the first floor, then they were already a waste.
Kent kept watching their backs as he closed in on them within a minute. Soon, he passed them, looking ahead at the first floor, where he saw a few standing, looking through dozens of small tomes.
Those who knew it wasn’t worth it to brave the second floor chose to bug out now and focus on the heavenly-grade techniques.
Some just wanted a contingency plan in case they couldn’t handle the second floor and end up wasting their own time. Learning a Heaven grade technique isn’t bad for them.
Another group was merely looking through the techniques while relaxing for a few minutes before climbing again. It had already been 30 minutes since the gate opened, so they could rest for a few minutes.
They figure, why not note down a few flame arts while at it?
Then, finally, there are those who wanted to read through and hope to find something they could use to climb further.
These were the people Kent was interested in.
They were called the survivalists.
They knew how and when to adapt.
They knew when to look for ways to keep moving.
Giving up was not in their books because, unlike those who saw their limits as obstacles or those who wanted contingency plans, this group of people wanted to keep moving, but they lacked the strength; they still had their conviction.
They wanted to reach the top, and to do that, they knew their current strength wouldn’t take them far. So, they were adapting, aiming to utilize the weaker techniques to boost their chances of reaching their desired destination.
If anyone were worthy of earning his respect, then Kent would surely give it to them.
He spotted seven people who were looking through Body Enhancement Flame Arts.
‘Tower, do your thing. Find them good techniques, and I will handle the rest.’

[Core of the Universe – Lady Universe’s POV]
She watched as Kent analyzed everyone climbing the stairway, and for a moment, a sense of pride appeared in her eyes when he saw Kent note down the seven people.
“Sometimes I forget how he sees these people. They are not the best or the brightest. They are not the ones packed with so much talent. They are not the ones that will stand above all. They are not the ones that will blaze on the battlefield,” She smiled.
“They are the kind who would never give up. The ones that will always survive. The ones who, against all odds, will find a way to prevail. They never use underhanded means; they rely on their own intelligence to live.
They also survive for that is their belief, always to survive.”
A tear fell from her eyes as she recalled a moment that happened billions of years ago. And now, as she watched Kent pay attention to these people, a sense of déjà vu overwhelmed her.
The unknown legends speak of the day the past and the future aligned.
That day, the Undead, led by the Unyielding Kaizo, appeared.
The Soul Sentinels, led by the Astra Soul Warden, also appeared.
The Eternal Wrath, led by the Towering Flame Tyrant Aetheris, also appeared.
The 14 Lost knights, led by the Void Monarch Veydris, also appeared.
But they weren’t the only ones.
That day, Krex Nithal, the undying cockroach, also led his legion of survivalists, joining the Great War of the primordial Era.
