Chapter 538 - 536: You’re Saying My Son Ascended to Another Place?
Chapter 538: Chapter 536: You’re Saying My Son Ascended to Another Place?
The moment he finished speaking, Celeste Grant slapped him on the head.
"What was that? How dare you complain."
After hitting him, she twirled a lock of his hair between her fingers. She leaned in close with a wicked cackle. "Old Fiend Sinclair, you have a smart mouth that’s just begging for trouble."
She was so close that her breath tickled Javier Sinclair’s ear. His ears turned slightly red, but he said, "I wouldn’t dare. I was just making an analogy. Besides, you were the one who said ’rusty brain,’ my dear. I certainly didn’t."
Celeste Grant wrapped her arms around his neck. "Let’s go, let’s go back to our room now. I’m in a hurry."
As soon as she said it, a Demon Cultivator happened to be passing by down the hall. The cultivator stumbled upon hearing her words and bowed slightly. "Please, continue, Exalted One. Your subordinate saw nothing." Then, in a flash, they vanished.
Seeing this, she glanced up at the spot where the cultivator had disappeared, then shot a look at Javier Sinclair. It slowly dawned on her. "Javier Sinclair, do you think it’s possible he... misunderstood something?"
Javier Sinclair raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance. Then, with a puzzled look, he asked, "What do you think they misunderstood, darling? I have no idea."
"Oh, stop pretending." Celeste Grant pinched his arm. "I just said, ’let’s go back to our room now. I’m in a hurry.’ Didn’t you see the shocked look on that disciple’s face? He must have thought we were rushing back to our room to do... improper things."
Javier Sinclair chuckled. "So that’s what you meant. Well, you can’t blame them for jumping to conclusions. You did say to hurry back to the room because you were in a hurry."
"Hurry my ass! You, Archfiend, can sleep on the floor tonight."
Javier Sinclair’s expression turned serious. "Sleep on the floor? Out of the question. If word got out, what would become of my reputation?"
Celeste Grant poked his cheek and gave him a sidelong glance. "You have a reputation to maintain?"
He replied, "If you’re willing, my dear, I can certainly throw my reputation to the wind."
Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh.
"You devil."
She cursed him playfully, but her arms were wrapped intimately around his neck. "Enough nonsense. Let’s go to our room and get down to business." ’I just want to see how my son is doing.’
Back in their room in the sleeping quarters, Javier Sinclair waved his hand. The door shut from the inside, and an extra layer of a Barrier sealed it.
Once inside, Celeste Grant slid off his back.
She walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Hurry, come here."
Javier Sinclair glanced up.
He saw the urgency on her face.
Javier Sinclair walked to her side and sat down. He leaned in close to Celeste Grant’s ear and whispered, "Don’t look so eager. It’ll give me the wrong idea." ’Especially since she’d been drinking tonight, her cheeks are flushed. When she looks at me with such urgency... I’m a normal man, after all.’
Celeste Grant snapped back to reality, catching his hidden meaning. Her cheeks flushed a faint red. "Javier Sinclair, be serious! Get your mind out of the gutter."
He sighed.
He reached out and put his arm around her shoulders.
"Fine! So I’m still not as important as our son in your heart. The moment he’s mentioned, you forget all about me."
Celeste Grant smiled. "Of course. He’s my son, my own flesh and blood. When it comes to importance, you’re way, way, way down the list."
He held out his hand.
The Mysterious Ancient Mirror, which Celeste Grant had put away, appeared in his palm. He then said, "I had too much to drink tonight. My memory’s a little hazy... I seem to have forgotten how to activate this Ancient Mirror. Now, if my dear would give me a little kiss..."
Celeste Grant was speechless.
’This damn man.’
’He’s getting more and more shameless.’
She grabbed his face, turned it toward her, and planted a kiss right on his cheek. "Is your head clear now?"
Javier Sinclair laughed and reached out to pat her head. "You look quite pretty when you’re all puffed up with anger, you know."
Celeste Grant shot him a glare and pointed at the Mysterious Ancient Mirror in his hand. "Just get on with it."
He hummed in agreement.
"Yes, much better now."
Javier Sinclair held the Ancient Mirror in one hand while raising the other to gently brush it across the surface. The next moment, the Ancient Mirror lit up, and an image appeared on its face.
Seeing the Mysterious Ancient Mirror activate, Celeste Grant, who was sitting beside him, immediately leaned closer, her eyes glued to it. At that moment, she saw an image materialize within the mirror.
The scene within the Ancient Mirror was set during the day. Snow filled the sky, creating a vast, white expanse. The ground was blanketed in snow, and a colossal Spirit Beast flew overhead.
Celeste Grant was taken aback by the sight.
"Where is this? It doesn’t look like the Lower Realm we used to live in."
Two words then appeared on the Ancient Mirror.
Cunmere Realm.
Celeste Grant was even more baffled.
"Cunmere Realm? What the hell kind of place is that?"
Before she could even begin to understand, ancient structures appeared in the Ancient Mirror.
The scene before her was something that could only exist in the Cultivation World.
The view plunged from the sky, diving deep underground in the next instant, arriving in The Underpalace in a flash.
It was then that she finally saw her dear son’s coffin—an Ice Coffin etched with ancient runes.
"A coffin!!!"
Celeste Grant stared at the Ice Coffin in shock. She leaped to her feet, away from Javier Sinclair’s side, and snatched the Mysterious Ancient Mirror from his hand.
At that moment, her hand was trembling slightly.
"What’s going on? Why is there a coffin?" She stared intently, not blinking for a second. Inside the Ice Coffin lay a person—a handsome man with a slender build, dressed in robes embroidered with ancient golden patterns. The figure, the face... it was unmistakably her son, Aaron Sinclair.
"Annie... Annie..."
No mother could see her perfectly healthy son lying in a coffin and not panic. Celeste Grant was no exception. Her mind went blank, and she anxiously called out his name.
"Javier Sinclair... That’s our son."
She reached out, gripping Javier Sinclair’s shoulder tightly. "You... you said nothing would happen to him! That he wouldn’t be in any danger!"
As Celeste Grant spoke, her voice trembled.
At that moment, the Ancient Mirror felt so heavy in her hand that she nearly dropped it. Javier Sinclair quickly reached out, took her arm, and guided her to sit beside him. "Don’t panic. Look closely. Our son is fine. See? His face is fair with a healthy, rosy complexion. And look at his body—the aura of Celestials and Fiends surrounding him is incredibly powerful. Could it be possible that this is just a special form of Cultivation?"
Celeste Grant froze.
She carefully studied her son in the Ice Coffin. The aura of Celestials and Fiends swirled around his body. His face, fair and tinged with a healthy red, made him look like he was only sleeping. ’Yes, just sleeping.’
The sight of the coffin with her son inside had terrified her. She had immediately assumed the worst. It was only after Javier Sinclair’s reminder that she came to her senses. Her son was just lying in a coffin, but he looked perfectly fine.
’As long as our son is all right, that’s all that matters.’
Celeste Grant let out a sigh of relief and couldn’t help but wipe away the cold sweat on her brow.
