Chapter 341:The Goddess Of Light
Chapter 341:The Goddess Of Light
Just as Ethan was wondering what was going on, he heard a soft, melodious voice.
“You can’t kill him like that.”
Ethan spun around.
He saw a woman sitting calmly on the blank white floor. She wore a pure white robe simple yet elegant and a thin golden band gently covered her eyes. Around her, various animals made of soft light played quietly. Some chirped, some rolled on the ground, and others rested near her feet.
The scene was incredibly peaceful. For a moment, Ethan felt his heart steady without even realizing it. The tension in his body eased, and his racing thoughts slowed.
“Cute.”
The word slipped out before he could stop himself. The moment he realized what he’d said, his expression stiffened.
“…”
A deep silence spread. The animals froze mid-movement and stared at him in shock. Even the woman paused, her head slightly tilted toward him. The air itself seemed to hold its breath.
Then, a soft laugh broke the silence.
“Pfft. Hahaha…” The woman’s voice was bright with amusement. “I didn’t expect someone to call me cute. And I really have to agree.” She smiled warmly. “It sounded… nice.”
Ethan scratched the back of his head and walked forward carefully. His instincts were screaming at him to stay alert, but somehow, he didn’t feel any danger from her. Besides, what could he do anyway? She was already here.
He thought about asking the system for information, but the fear of being exposed made him stop. Instead, he moved closer, squatted down, and bowed his head sincerely.
“You are the Goddess of Light, right?”
At his words, the woman’s eyes widened.
“Thank you for the support and help you provided me indirectly,” Ethan added.
“You are quite perceptive.” The Goddess of Light smiled. It was a warm, gentle expression, like sunlight on a quiet morning. “I was just curious,” she replied.
“Curious?” Ethan lifted his head.
“Yes,” she said softly. “After all, you are the greatest anomaly in this world. When you were dragged here by mistake, many argued that you should be killed and erased.”
Ethan’s eyes narrowed. A ripple of tension passed across his face; he hadn’t expected to hear something so chilling mentioned so casually.
“Don’t worry,” the Goddess continued. “You are safe. There were a few votes in your favor.”
“…Who were they?” Ethan asked.
“You will know later,” she said with a smile, slowly turning away. “I cannot linger for long. I only came to help.”
Her tone shifted as she spoke the next name.
“Argos.”
The warmth in the air dimmed. “The one you are dealing with is no simple being,” she said calmly. “What you fought was not even one percent of his true power. You may be able to defeat him, but you cannot erase his existence.”
Ethan frowned. “But I only need to defeat his present self,” he said, confused.
“You need to finish his will, not just his body,” she replied. “You will understand once you go back. Your blessing needs more faith to deliver true judgment, but it seems you have some… opinions about me.”
Ethan stiffened, alarmed, but the Goddess gently shook her head.
“It’s fine,” she said kindly. “I cannot force anyone to believe in me. However, you could erase those remnant traces if you followed me faithfully. Alas…”
Ethan didn’t reply, which made her chuckle.
“You are quite wary. That’s good, too.” She extended her hand slightly. “Though you cannot erase him yet, you can lock him within the surrounding space. My people are already on their way.”
Ethan let out a slow breath. “Thanks.”
“Good,” she said. “Go now.”
She waved her hand lightly. Ethan had many questions, but he chose to hold them back. He knew that once he became stronger and reached their level, the answers would come naturally.
The space around him cracked. The blank world shattered like glass.
In the next moment, Ethan found himself standing inside a massive crater. His greatsword was embedded deep into the dried, blasted remains of Argos’s body, which lay broken and lifeless against the ground.
Argos’s body was dead, but something felt wrong.
A strange sensation crawled over Ethan’s skin, as if something unseen was watching him. A piercing pressure weighed down from all directions. He closed his eyes and extended his senses.
Then, he felt it. A force ripped toward him.
He snapped his eyes open and saw the dark miasma twisting, forming into a humanoid shape once again.
“Kakakakaka! You destroyed my body, but my intent remains!”
Ethan frowned and looked around. The land was decaying. Stone crumbled into dust, and the ground blackened as if life itself was being drained away.
“Kekekekekek! Didn’t I say you can’t kill me? Your powers aren’t enough!”
Ethan walked forward calmly and shook his head. “I accept it.”
“Huh?”
“Yes,” Ethan said evenly. “I accept that I am not strong enough to finish you yet. But that doesn’t mean it’s over.”
He gripped his sword.
BOOM!
Holy hymns reverberated through the crater. A blinding flash erupted as Ethan’s body began to glow, chunks of radiant light floating around him like fallen stars. His body slowly rose into the air.
“I might not kill you today,” Ethan said coldly, “but I can damn well lock you up.”
His hands moved swiftly, forming complex signs. Beams of light shot from his body into the sky. Thunder roared. The clouds were blown apart, and the sky trembled violently.
Then, something incredible happened.
A miniature sun began to rise high above. It burned bright and pure, radiating overwhelming light that erased every shadow. Even the darkness recoiled. From the heart of that blazing sun, a massive pillar of light descended.
Seeing this, Argos screamed. “Noooooo! How is this possible? NOOOOOO!”
“STOP SCREAMING, YOU BASTARD!” Ethan roared.
He clenched his fist. The pillar of light slammed down with devastating force.
BOOOOOOM!
The world shook as divine light crushed the remaining darkness, sealing Argos’s will beneath an unbreakable prison of judgment.
Ethan stood tall, glowing like a god of war, his eyes calm and cold. He might not be able to kill a demon today, but one day…
The day would come when he would be strong enough to enter that monster’s home and beat the life out of it for treating humans like cattle.
And he swore it.
