Chapter 320: Broken Peace
Chapter 320: 320: Broken Peace
Wyvern rider training was nothing like riding horses.
The riders had to climb onto the wyverns carefully, avoiding the sharp scales and powerful wings. They needed to press their bodies low, grip the harness tightly, and learn how to move with the beast instead of against it. Any sudden movement could throw them off balance. Any panic could cost them their life.
Below, Randall watched the chaos with crossed arms and a cold gaze.
“Again!” he shouted. “If you fall now, you will die for real, so be serious.”
Wales, who was observing everything from a distance, rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“I think we need proper gear,” he said calmly.
“The strong winds are making it hard for the riders to focus,” Noel added, shielding his eyes as another wyvern passed overhead.
“Do not worry, Young Lord,” one of the instructors replied. “I will ask Otlo to make something suitable.”
……
“Specs…”
Ethan muttered softly when the matter was brought to him.
The riders needed something to protect their eyes. The wind at high altitude was brutal, making it impossible to keep their eyes open for long. Their hair also whipped wildly across their faces, throwing them into disarray and breaking their focus.
They needed eye protection. Something light, clear, and sturdy.
Though people wanted something to cover their faces, no one really knew how to make it properly.
Ethan sat down and picked up a piece of paper.
“I will design it,” he said simply.
He began drawing sketches of eyewear, experimenting with different shapes and frames. Some designs wrapped around the head, while others rested lightly on the nose. He made several versions so people could choose what suited them best.
At the same time, a thought struck him.
Why stop at military use?
Most people still relied on monocles to see clearly. If he could introduce proper spectacles using glass, it could easily become a new business.
A simple idea, but one that could change daily life.
A few days later, Ethan handed the designs to Otlo.
Otlo studied the drawings carefully. His eyes lit up as he traced the lines with his finger.
“These are delicate,” Otlo said slowly. “They will need soft hands and fine craftsmanship.”
Then he slammed his fist against his chest.
“Leave it to us. We will create a masterpiece.”
Ethan smiled and patted Otlo on the shoulder.
“I am counting on you.”

Over the next few days, Blanks displayed the development of a new force.
The Wyvern Knights.
These aerial knights greatly increased the military strength of Blanks. With wyverns beneath them, they could patrol vast areas in minutes. No walls or terrain could block their view.
Criminals could no longer hide easily. Threats were spotted from the sky long before they reached the city.
Efficiency and range of surveillance increased several folds.
Blanks were changing.
On a calm afternoon, Ethan lay stretched out in the garden, enjoying the warmth of the sun on his face. The soft breeze carried the scent of flowers, but he could barely relax because his children were all over him.
The smallest ones sat nearby with papers spread on the grass. They scribbled incomprehensible symbols and messy drawings, then ran over to him, proudly holding them up.
“Father, look!”
Ethan took the papers and stared at them seriously for a moment before smiling. He chuckled softly and nodded.
“Very good. These are… very unique,” he said, making the children beam with pride.
Nearby, the four youngest crawled all over his body. One tugged at his sleeve, another pulled his hair, and the third tried to climb onto his chest. The fourth simply sat on his stomach, laughing happily.
Ethan let out a long sigh and turned his head toward his wives with a helpless look.
“Wifey, help!”
“No,” Diana snorted without even looking at him. “Deal with them yourself.”
She crossed her arms and added, “Why should we always take care of the kids? You should lend a hand too.”
Ethan groaned dramatically and let his head fall back onto the grass.
“Cruel. All of you are cruel,” he muttered.
He turned his head and looked around the garden.
“Where are the older ones?” he asked.
“They are all training,” Lia replied calmly as she watched the younger children play.
“They became serious after the Wyvern King’s appearance,” she added.
Ethan raised an eyebrow. The bigger group had already moved out earlier and were now training hard to hone their skills.
He remembered the words he had given them clearly.Reach the Intermediate stage, and then you can roam wherever you want.
“I see,” Ethan said, nodding slowly.
“These naughty kids… as soon as they heard about going out, they suddenly became serious.”
He shook his head and sighed.
“Why didn’t I see this seriousness before?”
A quiet voice suddenly spoke up.
“Father, what about me?”
Ethan turned his head and saw a pale mini version of himself sitting on a bench. Dark circles sat heavily under the boy’s eyes, making him look exhausted. Beside him, many folders were lined up neatly, stacked one after another.
Ethan clicked his tongue.
“As the oldest, you should lend me a hand instead of running around crazily,” he said.
Hearing this, Ray’s expression falters but Ethan’s gaze remains firm.
Inside Ethan’s heart, he wanted to scream.
You want to go and play? Then who will help me?
Ray looked around desperately for support when Sally walked toward him. She held a small flower in her hand and gently placed it into Ray’s palm.
“It’s okay, brother. Don’t cry,” Sally said softly.
She then crawled onto the bench, placed the flower near Ray’s ear, and patted his head gently.
“When Sally goes out, she will bring a lot of gifts from outside,” she added cheerfully.
“I will too,” another child shouted.
“Me too!” another voice followed.
Ray’s expression twisted painfully. He wanted to scream at the sky, but he forced himself to control his temper. He turned his head and looked toward his mothers for help.
They all conveniently turned away and ignored him.
Ray felt his soul leave his body.
Ethan ignored the drama unfolding beside him and picked up a glass of fruit juice. He took a slow sip, but that only reminded him of something he deeply missed.
“Soda… soda…” he muttered under his breath.
“Will I ever be able to drink carbonated soda again?”
People might think he was exaggerating, but only he knew the torture of not being able to drink something he loved the most. Coke and soda were far better than wine in his opinion, but he was not allowed to drink them if he wanted to keep his physique in shape.
He sighed deeply.
Before he could sink back into his thoughts, Sophia’s voice echoed from the entrance of the garden.
“Ethan,” she called out. “There is a message from the capital.”
Ethan’s relaxed expression vanished instantly.
“Huh?”
He sat up straight.
“Say it again.”
“A message came from the royals,” Sophia repeated. “It seems to be an invitation.”
Ethan slowly stood up, brushing dirt and grass from his clothes. His playful mood disappeared completely.
A message from the capital never came without a reason. And more often than not, it never brought good news.
He let out a long breath and rubbed his forehead.
“Haaa… I wonder what kind of trouble is brewing this time,” he muttered quietly.
The warm afternoon suddenly felt a lot less peaceful.
