Chapter 465: The King’s Items, Last Monster Killed
[Serpent King Essence: Consuming will increase Agility by 25,000 and Constitution by 20,000, as well as possibly boost poison-related skills and sub-talents.]
[Sub-Talent Scroll: Agility Enhancement (S-Level), Venomous Blood (S-Level)]
[Skill Book: Venom Nova (Legendary): Release a massive explosion of venom that spreads across the battlefield, poisoning all enemies caught in the blast and dealing damage over time.]
[Serpent King’s Tooth (Material): A tooth embedded in a deadly amount of toxins, able to poison even level 100 opponents easily.]
"Nice," Leon said, nodding with satisfaction as he examined the items.
These were the five items from the Serpent King, and though it wasn’t much compared to some of the other kings, Leon appreciated the fact he obtained them.
Plus, the other ones were much better anyway, making the overall haul more than worth the effort he had put into the fight.
[x2 Ice and Flame King Essence: Consuming will increase Spirit by 50,000, as well as boost Ice and Flame-related abilities.]
[Sub-Talent Scroll: Supreme Ice Affinity Sub-Talent (S-Level), Supreme Flame Affinity Sub-Talent (S-Level)]
[Skill Book: Flame Boost (Ancient), Sub-Zero Zone (Ancient)]
[Ice and Flame Sword (Ascendant): +50,000 Attack Power, +100,000 Strength, +80,000 Spirit, +40,000 Agility. Greatly increases the power of your Ice and Fire elements while wielding it.]
These were the items Leon already knew about too, as he had used his Celestial Hand to copy the Ice and Flame King Essence earlier during the battle.
And that meant that the only thing remaining to check were the Void King’s items, as well as the ones from the monsters his skeletons killed, though those didn’t matter as much in the grand scheme of things.
At this point, almost every monster from this part of the Monster Tide was gone, their bodies reduced to particles and scattered across the battlefield, allowing Leon to do whatever he wanted freely without interference.
However, since he had no idea how long this "peace" would last, as the last part of the Monster Tide would come soon, he still needed to relatively be quick about it.
[Void King Essence: Consuming this doesn’t seem to be the greatest of ideas unless you have a deep link to the Void. Trying without it will result in death.]
"Damn," Leon muttered, his eyes widening at the ominous warning.
That was the very first item, and it already seemed completely different than any of the other ones he had obtained so far.
The danger it promised was real, and he could feel it just by reading the description.
Still though, Leon knew for a fact that he would be able to use it because of what he had just acquired from the king’s corpse.
[Sub-Talent Scroll: Void Sovereign (SS-Level)]
"Bingo," he grinned, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction, "Now I can."
[Void Blade (Divine): +200,000 Attack Power, +250,000 Strength, +150,000 Spirit, +120,000 Agility. This blade is able to use a void-related skill to boost its strength. Requirement: At least one void-related skill or sub-talent to be able to summon it.]
"Holy shit," Leon breathed, his jaw dropping slightly at the sight.
This was the best weapon Leon had ever seen in this life, and more importantly, it was the very first one able to use another skill or spell, making it incredibly versatile and powerful.
’Very good,’ he thought, already imagining the possibilities that such a weapon could bring in future battles.
Leon’s [Magicless Sword +2] was currently still better, but only due to the [Blood Heart Blessing] it had, which tripled the strength output of each of his slashes.
Without that blessing, the Void Blade would easily surpass it in every way.
’Oh, I so wish I could transfer a blessing from one item to the other, or being able to fuse two items...’ he mused, his mind racing with possibilities.
The [Blood Heart]’s only evolved once, giving it the ability to copy another item’s blessing once.
But perhaps if it evolved just one more time... it could be very useful, unlocking even greater potential and allowing him to combine the strengths of both weapons.
He stored the Void Blade in his [Storage Space] and moved to the last two items, his fingers tingling with anticipation as he read their descriptions.
[Skill Book: Void Detonation (Divine)]
"...Divine!" Leon exclaimed, his eyes widening in shock at the rank.
The Void King truly was an incredible opponent, one of the strongest monsters in the entirety of the Higher Domains, thus allowing it to have both a divine weapon but also drop a divine skill, a reward beyond anything he had expected to find.
[Void Detonation (Divine): Charge a sphere of pure void energy and launch it with your staff or strike it with your sword to send it flying toward your enemies. Upon impact, a massive void explosion erupts, erasing everything it touches and sending it to the void. Requirement: At least one void-related sub-talent.]
And finally, the last item appeared before him, it was a small key bursting with void energy.
[Void Key (???): The void is impossible to access normally, but perhaps this key can open a path to reach the God of Void.]
"Good," Leon nodded, satisfied with the haul.
Unless the [Abyss Key Shard] which he obtained only one of, and he needed ten, this was simply a key that allowed him to directly access the Void... wherever that was.
Either way he was satisfied, not only did he unlock a new sub-talent but he also acquired a few skills he planned to learn at least two of them.
"Are you done?" Violet asked as she placed her head on Leon’s shoulder, peeking over it with curiosity.
"Yeah," Leon nodded, "I need to manage the rest of the items, but for now it should be good, we’ll have to use them quick though before the next wave hits."
Leon quickly killed a few void monsters before they were gone, allowing him to get a few essences, but more importantly, a few B-Rank Weak Void Affinity sub-talents for the girls just in case they needed them.
The girls didn’t have any void-related abilities yet, so this would give them a foundation to build upon if they ever needed to use void-based skills in the future.
And it seemed he had done the right thing because after a few minutes, Granite smashed through another of the void monsters, killing the last one with a powerful blow that shook the ground.
And the moment it was done, something unexpected happened that changed the atmosphere entirely.
BOOM!
There was a terrifying sound coming from above, and everyone looked up at the vortex, including the servants of the gods who had been waiting patiently.
The vortex began to spin rapidly, its energy crackling with intensity, and a panel appeared before everyone.
[The players have defeated this wave much quicker than expected.]
[Difficulty of the Monster Tide has been increased.]
"What?"
[5 minutes until final wave.]
Leon turned around to gaze at Cavin at that moment, and he could see the oni leader with a shocked expression, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"This... is not supposed to happen," he mumbled, a chill running down his spine, "Prepare, Empress!"
"Yes!" Empress also seemed slightly shaken, but she nodded, her expression turning serious as she readied her spear.
