Chapter 602: Tony’s Scientific Worldview Collapses
The cannons on Sanctuary II lit up simultaneously once more.
Over the skies of New York, a dense, devastating light pressed downward.
Inside Tony’s helmet, the alarms had merged into one continuous, blaring shriek.
"Sir, the current shields cannot withstand a third volley."
The moment J.A.R.V.I.S. finished his warning, a blinding artillery beam grazed his armor and smashed into the street corner, instantly collapsing half a building.
Tony rolled frantically to dodge the falling debris, raising a hand to blast a diving Chitauri fighter into scrap metal with his repulsors.
"Thanks for the heads-up, J.A.R.V.I.S."
"While you’re at it, send a resignation letter to New York Air Traffic Control. Tell them this airspace is officially under the jurisdiction of alien scumbags today!"
Blinding fire erupted from his thrusters as he charged head-on toward another Chitauri fighter.
The belly of the fighter suddenly popped open, launching four explosive munitions straight toward a group of fleeing civilians on the ground.
Tony went into an extreme dive to intercept, deploying a swarm of micro-missiles from his shoulders.
A massive fireball exploded in mid-air.
A second later, three more fighters ripped fiercely through the flames, their eerie blue energy beams locking onto him simultaneously.
"Alright, lining up to die counts as being orderly, I guess."
Just as Tony prepared to counterattack, a colossal, dark-gold hand descended from above.
Carrying a violent, crushing gale, the giant palm swept across the sky, instantly swatting the three fighters into a shower of scrap metal.
Standing atop the giant Buddha, Sengoku’s face was dark with rage.
"Stop fighting on your own!"
His roar drowned out the chaotic artillery fire across the sky.
"Kizaru, protect the civilians and the Avengers! Garp, tear down those ship cannons! Whitebeard, suppress the main ship for me!"
Kizaru slowly adjusted his sunglasses.
"Oh my, my, Fleet Admiral. Still so eager to assign work at a time like this. Your dedication is truly terrifying."
Despite his words, he had already transformed into a brilliant beam of golden light, descending into the city block.
A massive expanse of dazzling light dust unfurled with a roar, acting as an absolute barricade in front of a subway entrance.
Hundreds of civilians were huddled inside. Hearing the relentless explosions outside, their desperate cries and wails echoed through the tunnel.
Black Widow, supporting a young girl as they leaned against the wall, looked up at the impenetrable golden barrier.
"Are all you Marines this good at saving the day?"
Kizaru spread his hands helplessly.
"I’m just here to collect my paycheck, really."
Standing nearby with his bow drawn tight, Hawkeye’s mouth twitched violently.
"If you can just ’collect a paycheck’ and pull off stuff like this, your department’s benefits must be incredible."
On the other side of the battlefield, Garp was already walking on air, rocketing into the upper atmosphere like a cannonball.
Hearing Sengoku’s orders, he looked back and flashed a wide grin, letting out a booming laugh.
"I don’t take orders from the Fleet Admiral!"
"I only smash the hardest bones!"
The veins on Sengoku’s forehead throbbed wildly, his roar deafening.
"Garp, you insubordinate bastard!"
But Garp had already plunged headfirst into the swarm of Sanctuary II’s escort ships.
Packs of Chitauri escort crafts swarmed him, turning their cold artillery muzzles in his direction.
Dozens of high-energy beams fired in unison.
Garp didn’t even have the passing interest to dodge. His fists, densely coated in pitch-black Armament Haki, met the dense rain of artillery head-on.
"Fist Bone: Wild Barrage!"
A sky full of fist afterimages detonated furiously in the air.
One escort craft was punched completely through from nose to stern. Its internal reactor exploded violently, and the entire ship disintegrated into dust on the spot.
A second ship attempted to bank sideways, but before it could secure a lock, Garp kicked the cockpit into splinters. He flew out the other side and grabbed onto an exposed heavy cannon barrel.
His arm muscles bulged as he yanked with savage force.
An entire row of heavy ship cannons, armor plating included, was violently ripped away.
Hoisting the massive cannon barrel over his shoulder, Garp swung it backward with brutal force.
Three pursuing fighters didn’t even have time to evade before they were smashed into a crumpled ball of burning metal.
Watching from below, Tony stared in silence. It took two full seconds before he spoke.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., log that scene."
"Log what exactly, sir?"
"From now on, never say my armor is Earth’s toughest tech ever again. As of today, that leaderboard is completely void."
J.A.R.V.I.S. paused for half a second.
"I have deleted your associated overconfident remarks, sir."
"You actually deleted them?"
Like a demon god, Whitebeard stood in the center of the ruins, both hands gripping Murakumogiri with a death-like grip.
Sanctuary II’s second wave of devastating artillery pressed down.
The blinding blasts nearly covered half of Manhattan.
Whitebeard raised his great naginata and unleashed a savage horizontal slash.
"Trying to clear the field in front of me!?"
The air in front of the blade fractured like shattered glass.
An apocalyptic shockwave swept through the sky, violently deflecting the massive deluge of artillery fire.
The beams were completely forced off their trajectory, crashing into an already evacuated, empty city block. The entire street was churned up and obliterated.
Whitebeard threw his head back and laughed wildly.
"You better ask the blade in my hand if it agrees first!"
Prime Thanos stood unshakeable on the deck, looking down coldly at the chaos below.
His gaze swept over Garp, Whitebeard, and Sengoku, then shifted to Hela, Imu, Kaido, and Shiki.
The existence of these monsters was completely outside his calculations.
They didn’t belong to the causality of this timeline.
Yet, in their hands, they held the critical variables capable of overturning everything.
Thanos slowly raised his hand.
"Divide the battlefield."
"Reclaim the stones."
"Capture the holder of the Space Stone alive."
With that cold command, the massive belly of Sanctuary II blasted open.
The remnants of the Black Order moved instantly, like bloodthirsty wolves catching the scent of prey.
Corvus Glaive darted out from the shadows at extreme speed, heading straight for Loki.
Loki was clutching the Tesseract tightly, his face as pale as a corpse.
"Dammit, why is it you again?"
Corvus Glaive offered no words. His peerless glaive, dripping with the aura of death, slashed directly at Loki’s neck.
Roaring, Thor swung Stormbreaker, blocking the lethal strike as berserk lightning erupted outward.
"Stay away from my brother!"
Loki instantly fired back.
"I am not a child who needs protecting!"
Corvus Glaive twisted his body and lunged forward with another venomous thrust.
Loki’s words hitched in his throat, and with practiced ease, he quickly ducked behind Thor’s back.
"But you can keep standing in front of me as a shield."
Thor was so angry he almost turned around and put his axe through Loki’s skull.
Proxima Midnight led a squad of elite assassins, shooting like arrows toward the temporary evacuation point near Wakanda.
Wanda had only recently arrived at the New York battlefield and was currently gritting her teeth, using her scarlet energy to desperately shield the wounded.
She raised a hand, telekinetically blasting two Chitauri soldiers away. The very next second, Proxima Midnight’s spear thrust toward her face like a viper.
"Where is the stone?"
Violent red light surged in Wanda’s eyes.
"Stay away from Vision."
The spear and the scarlet energy collided with a massive explosion, violently tearing the ground beneath them apart.
Elsewhere, Cull Obsidian roared as he crawled out of the rubble. His armor was shattered, and Kaido’s fist print was still deeply caved into his chest.
Dragging his heavy axe, his eyes bloodshot, he charged at Kaido once again.
Kaido rolled his neck nonchalantly. The grotesque wound on his shoulder was still bleeding freely.
"I didn’t get to enjoy myself earlier. Let’s keep going!"
Cull Obsidian let out a beastly roar and swept his giant axe horizontally.
Laughing maniacally, Kaido swung his kanabo down for a brutal, head-on clash.
The two forces of absolute, pure strength collided, generating a shockwave that sent all the surrounding abandoned cars flying through the air.
Hiding behind a broken wall, Rocket hugged his gun tightly and poked his head out for a peek.
"I officially declare that when big guys like this fight, watching from within a half-mile radius is strictly prohibited!"
Star-Lord was laying flat on his stomach nearby, clutching the Orb.
"I thought you loved watching this kind of spectacle?"
"I like watching other people die, not getting blasted through the air myself!"
In the center of the battlefield, Hela gripped the Power Stone tightly, standing in the middle of a collapsed street.
The sky full of artillery fire, the stench of death, and the despairing wails—all of it was feeding her in a frenzy.
Thick, black necrotic energy rose continuously from the ruins, pouring into her armor.
She didn’t lift a finger to help defend anyone.
Instead, she was greedily harvesting this battlefield.
Seeing this, Thor yelled, his eyes nearly splitting in rage, "Hela! Now is absolutely not the time to play your little throne games!"
Hela turned her head slightly to look at him, the purple light in her hand burning even brighter.
"To me, wherever I stand is my throne."
