One Piece: Don't Worry, I'm a Doctor

Chapter 431 431: Report to Marine Headquarters

In the blink of an eye, two days had passed.

But for most of the Marines lying in hospital beds, those two days might as well not have existed.

Marine Headquarters, New Base.

Hospital.

Special Intensive Care Unit.

A few large beds were arranged in the modestly sized room.

The gentle morning sunlight streamed through the massive window, illuminating the bed closest to it.

The light brightened the entire room, giving it a warm glow.

Everything inside was brand new, as expected of the newly constructed headquarters.

But the newly installed door was already heavily worn, its surface scratched and scuffed.

It was clear that people were constantly rushing in and out, their urgency leaving marks.

Admiral Kizaru lounged by the window, casually reclining as he skimmed a newspaper.

Every now and then, he sipped tea from a cup on the nearby table.

He looked completely at ease, as if he hadn’t a care in the world.

But the two in the beds beside him weren’t nearly as comfortable.

Admiral Akainu, missing half his face, shifted restlessly, wincing from the intense pain.

The internal damage from the shockwaves to his organs was severe, and the doctors could only opt for conservative treatment.

They prescribed medication and slow, careful recovery.

It wasn’t that the Marines didn’t want to speed things up—it was simply impossible.

This was the only way.

Zephyr, on the other side, wasn’t faring much better.

His chest wound — like the one Katakuri had suffered — was a major problem, with stopping the bleeding being the greatest difficulty.

Three days had already passed, and the doctors had just now managed to stabilize him.

Truthfully, if it had been only these types of injuries, Akainu and Zephyr wouldn’t even be concerned.

Zephyr might take some time to heal naturally with his own stamina, but Akainu could have recovered quickly — even from such severe wounds.

But the problem was, these weren’t ordinary wounds. Every blow from Whitebeard carried devastating shockwave power.

You might think it’s just a simple slash, but most couldn’t even touch his blade before being shattered by the vibrations.

That shockwave force was the real reason they were bedridden.

Kizaru, however, was a different story.

Sure, he’d been battered by Shiki, slashed multiple times, and his wounds still throbbed faintly.

But that was nothing.

His injuries paled in comparison to the agony of the other two.

He could even enjoy his tea leisurely despite the discomfort.

Just then, a strange ripple pulsed through the air.

The three men, each lost in their own thoughts, turned their gazes toward a spot outside the window.

A dangerous aura emanated from that direction.

It was faint, as if coming from a great distance.

Meanwhile, in the Fleet Admiral’s office, Sengoku, missing one arm, and Garp stood abruptly.

“What’s going on?”

“An attack? Now, of all times?”

“The presence is faint, far awa— wait!”

Their eyes widened, and they bolted for the door in unison.

Back in the hospital, the three patients wore looks of shock.

It all stemmed from a faint spatial fluctuation they sensed at the plaza.

A spatial ripple alone wouldn’t have been cause for alarm, but combined with that distant, dangerous aura…

It was downright terrifying!

In an instant, a single figure flashed through their minds.

No doubt about it—it had to be him.

At that moment, a spatial door suddenly materialized in the plaza.

The Marine soldiers training nearby turned, puzzled, toward the anomaly.

Before they could process it, a booming shout echoed across the grounds.

“Everyone! Get down now!”

With Sengoku’s command ringing out, two figures appeared beside the portal.

The instant they emerged, a blinding purple lightning engulfed the entire Marines Headquarters.

There was no chance to disrupt the spatial door.

From a distance, all anyone could see was a sea of purple light.

No one knew what was happening.

Only Garp and Sengoku, at the epicenter, saw it clearly.

The moment they arrived, a massive purple lightning club shot out from the portal.

It was as tall as a person!

The aura radiating from it sent chills down even Sengoku and Garp’s spines.

They acted immediately, unleashing their full strength.

When their attacks collided with the lightning club, the entire Marines Headquarters shook violently.

A deafening explosion followed.

Every Marine in the plaza was sent flying, and a merciless shockwave swept through, clearing everything in its path.

In an instant, the plaza was wiped clean.

Even a janitor would’ve applauded the thoroughness.

The tremors lasted a full three seconds before subsiding, and the purple glow enveloping the headquarters slowly faded.

At the center of the chaos, a massive crater now dominated the plaza.

In the middle of the pit, Garp and Sengoku stood, their faces etched with shock.

Soon, several vice admirals, lightly injured, rushed to the scene.

But when they saw the enormous crater, their expressions froze.

Vice Admiral Tsuru looked down at Garp and Sengoku, her brow furrowed deeply.

“What happened? Who was it?”

Though she asked, she already had a suspicion.

But it was an answer she didn’t want to accept.

Garp and Sengoku were still reeling, staring at where the portal had vanished, their minds overwhelmed with disbelief.

That unique spatial fluctuation.

That unmistakable purple lightning.

Did they even need to ask who it was?

What shocked them wasn’t just the identity—it was the sheer power, completely unlike anything they associated with him.

That massive lightning club’s explosive force had required both of them to block it together.

What did that mean?

Just weeks ago, Vir had been outmatched by Zero.

Yet now, his attack demanded the combined strength of Garp and Sengoku to counter.

How could he have grown this strong, this fast?

The shock in their eyes lingered, unshakable.

And it wasn’t just them.

Even Kizaru, still in his ward, had tried to rise to help — but when he sensed Garp and Sengoku had gone ahead, he laid back down.

But now, feeling the lingering aftershocks, Kizaru’s astonishment matched theirs.

Just half a month ago, he’d clashed with Vir on the warship escorting Kuma.

Back then, Vir could barely hold his own against him.

But now? What was this ripple?

This attack wasn’t any weaker than one of Garp’s signature moves, was it?

Wasn’t this a bit too much?

The two beside him wore similar expressions.

Back on the battlefield, they hadn’t seen Vir display this kind of power.

The entire base was thrown into chaos by Vir’s strike.

Before anyone could recover, three figures suddenly appeared in the sky.

The rising sun bathed them in golden light, making them gleam.

Looking up, Garp and the others tensed.

It was, of course, Vir.

In his hands, he held two unconscious figures.

“Brat! What are you doing at Marines Headquarters?” Garp bellowed.

“I come and go as I please.” Vir replied coolly.

“Now, now, no need to get so worked up. I’m just here to drop off some people for you.”

With that, Vir tossed the two unconscious figures down.

Tsuru leapt forward, catching them both in her arms.

Gazing up at Vir in the sky, the Marines’ faces darkened.

A pirate, brazenly stirring trouble right at Marine Headquarters.

And yet, they were powerless to stop him.

“That kid learns pretty fast. Anyway, if there’s nothing else, I—”

Before Vir could finish, Sengoku’s attack was already in his face.

But Vir merely flashed a faint smile at Sengoku, then vanished without a trace.

“Bastard!”

Sengoku cursed under his breath, but could only land back on the ground helplessly.

That guy’s unknown ability… even now, they hadn’t figured out what it was.

Every time he disappeared, it was without a trace.

Not a single clue left behind.

For a pirate to waltz into Marine Headquarters, cause a ruckus, and escape while they watched? Sengoku could only describe the feeling as utterly infuriating.

“How is he?”

Sengoku turned his concerned gaze to Chiba.

Sure, Vir was a rotten guy.

But his medical skills? Sengoku had to give him credit.

Vir had just said Chiba was learning fast under him.

But “fast” was vague—what did that even mean? They’d only know when Chiba woke up.

“He’s fine, just passed out.” Tsuru said.

Sengoku let out a sigh of relief.

“Take him to the hospital to rest.”

Once Chiba was carried off, Sengoku’s eyes shifted to the woman Vir had dropped off alongside him.

Guessing she was tied to Chiba somehow, Sengoku didn’t say much.

He ordered her to be taken to the same place as Chiba.

Shirahoshi was soon carried away too, her appearance predictably causing quite a stir.

Vir, feeling himself being carried forward, smirked inwardly.

Looks like it worked.

The Marines hadn’t suspected a thing.

The act had been perfect.

First, he had charged his strength and fired a “nuke” straight at Marine Headquarters.

Then, he had disguised himself as Chiba and sent his mirror clone off with Shirahoshi in tow.

When Sengoku attacked the clone, Vir had it use his signature escape ability.

Now, even if they had doubts, how could they suspect it was fake?

And, as expected, the Marines didn’t disappoint him.

Next step? Play unconscious for a bit, then wake up as a Marine hero once again.

Garp, watching Chiba being carried away, looked displeased.

No matter what, Chiba had killed his disciple right in front of him.

Garp couldn’t bring himself to like the guy.

Momousagi followed nervously, worry etched on her face.

Another figure trailed quietly behind.

It was Binz.

One of Zephyr’s two disciples.

The guy who’d tried to stop Vir from saving Ain during the Summit War.

Soon, Chiba was brought to the intensive care unit where Kizaru and others were.

Chiba and Shirahoshi each took up a bed.

The three people in the room reacted differently to Chiba’s arrival.

Zephyr’s expression was grim, guilt flashing in his eyes.

Beneath the guilt, though, was a faint glimmer of hope.

Ain’s condition was just as doctor had said—nothing was affected except her appearance.

Her twisted body looked grotesque, almost like an extreme herniated spine—hard to look at, let alone call beautiful.

Though no one in the Marines openly mocked her, those different stares were impossible to ignore.

Now, Ain had shut herself indoors for three whole days.

And it all stemmed from them not letting Chiba treat her back then.

Now he was back.

But whether he would be willing to treat her was another matter entirely.

Kizaru, on the other hand, was unfazed, glancing briefly before returning to his tea, only caring if it was brewed right.

Akainu was different.

When Chiba was brought in, his eyes practically lit up.

After checking with the nurse and learning Chiba was just unconscious and would wake soon, Akainu’s mood soared.

Good!

His son was back.

Who’d have thought that Vir would just let him go so casually?

Could it really be that Vir only took Chiba as a disciple?

Akainu didn’t dwell on it. Everything would be clear once Chiba woke up.

Whole Cake Island.

Katakuri and Brûlée’s figures appeared through the mirror in his old room.

The place was empty now.

Not a soul in sight.

Katakuri’s brow furrowed slightly, puzzled.

“Maybe everyone’s out on a mission. Probably orders from Mama.” Brûlée said, looking at Katakuri with concern, worried his recent recovery might leave him exhausted from the journey.

But Katakuri shook his head.

Just as he was about to speak, a figure dashed in from outside.

It was Smoothie.

Her face was panicked.

“Brother, you need to escape—now!”

Her words made Katakuri’s brow crease tightly.

Escape? What did that mean?

Had they come to the wrong place? Was this not Whole Cake Island?

If he was going to escape, he’d be escaping to Whole Cake Island.

Not the other way around.

Seeing Katakuri’s confusion, Smoothie didn’t wait for questions.

“Mama… she might be coming for you!”

Her words hung in the air, the room falling deathly silent.

Brûlée’s face was full of disbelief.

Mama, targeting Katakuri? Impossible.

Not only was Katakuri her son, but his years of contributions to the family—Big Mom wouldn’t turn on him.

But what that woman was thinking? Who could ever know?

Brûlée didn’t believe it. Katakuri hesitated too.

But Smoothie’s next words forced them to believe.

“All the siblings who covered for you have already been locked in the Book Prison by Mama.”

“Back when you were still bedridden, Mama even ordered me to capture you so she could extract your soul.”

Smoothie had once revered and followed Big Mom without question.

But when Big Mom turned on Katakuri, the perfect older brother, she was bound to lose the loyalty of most of her children.

Katakuri’s face darkened instantly.

Before he could act, a furious roar came from outside.

“Smoothie! Even you betray me?!”
