Chapter 88: 88/The Sadist’s Feast

Chapter 88

Stephanie’s Point of View

I stood in the dimly lit hallway, watching the maid’s blatant agitation as suspicion gnawed at my mind and filled my heart with a vague terror. In that critical, tension-filled moment, the shadows at the end of the corridor suddenly shifted. I saw them approaching together, their footsteps echoing through the space: Grandpa Victor, Alex with his usual poise, and Cedric with his overwhelming presence.

I took a step back involuntarily, looking at their faces with dread and anxiety. "Where were you?" I asked, my voice fluttering, its tone almost fading away.

Alex adjusted the jacket of his elegant suit coldly, looking at me with his calm, smooth, expressionless voice. "Didn’t you tell me that you were having dinner at your friend Kyra’s house and wouldn’t be back early?"

I took a deep breath to regain my balance, locking my gaze on him. "Yes, that’s true... but something urgent and sudden came up, and that’s why I returned home now. You haven’t answered me, where were you?"

Mr. Victor assumed a rigid, stern expression as he answered me, "We were here around the palace, my daughter. Where else did you think we would be at this hour?"

My eyes darted between their three faces in deep suspicion. Feeling the grip of fear choking me, I said, "I looked for you in every single corner. I checked the rooms and the study, and I found no trace of you!"

Mr. Victor replied in a dry tone, trying to make it sound natural, "We were down in the wine cellar together, choosing an aged bottle fit for the evening."

I knitted my brows in clear disapproval, completely unconvinced by his words. "The three of you?" I asked in a tone laced with deep skepticism. "All of you go down to the cellar together just to pick a single bottle of wine?"

Alex took a step toward the spacious lounge, his features sharp as he replied, "Yes, we wanted to choose a special vintage, and we always like to select our drinks with utmost care and precision."

I automatically glanced at their empty hands which held absolutely nothing. My tensed fingers tightened further as I countered in a tone that challenged their lie, "And so... where is this bottle? I see your hands are empty!"

Cedric, who was standing tall and rigid like a solid rock, shifted. A mysterious gleam flashed in his dark eyes as he replied coldly, "We changed our minds about drinking at the last minute and left the bottles in their place."

Everything about this excuse felt incredibly bizarre, fueling my confusion and doubts. It made no sense for this sudden behavior to be normal or a mere coincidence; they were wearing a mask of mystery, plotting something behind my back. Alex cut through my confusion and distraction, looking at me with keen interest. "What was this urgent matter that brought you back?"

I cleared my throat softly to shake off the tension, adjusting my posture with a surge of pride. "They called me from the great ’Vincetti’ company," I said, my eyes gleaming. "I went and did the official job interview just now... and I was accepted for the position."

Alex’s mouth curved into a faint, polite smile. "That’s wonderful... congratulations, Steph," he said in a calm tone.

Mr. Victor turned to me with a warm, affectionate tone, nodding in satisfaction. "Congratulations, my daughter. I knew you possessed the talent."

"Thank you both," I replied, my eyes sparkling with a joy I hadn’t felt in a long time. "I am truly happy."

Meanwhile, Cedric was boring into me with dark eyes that carried a mysterious cruelty and an implicit warning. "Congratulations," he said in a firm, raspy voice.

I looked at him from the corner of my eye, replying curtly and dryly, "Thank you."

Alex moved from his spot with measured strides, directing his gaze toward the kitchen. "Since you didn’t have dinner outside, I will have the maids prepare a special dinner table for you right away."

I hurried away from them, eager to escape Cedric’s gaze which was piercing through my body. "No need for the trouble, I’ll go to the kitchen myself to eat something light."

Alex shot me a calm look. "Very well... as you wish."

I headed toward the kitchen with heavy, exhausted steps. The moment I pushed the door open and stepped inside, the sound of faint, suspicious whispers among the maids caught my ears. They were talking gravely, but the moment their eyes landed on me, the sound cut off instantly. A strange, heavy silence fell over the spacious kitchen. I took a step forward, asking with apprehension and anxiety, "What’s going on? What were you talking about?"

One of them turned to me with tense features and awkward movements, trying to salvage the situation. "Nothing... nothing at all, Mrs. Stephanie... just ordinary matters. What are your orders? What would you like us to cook for you?"

I took a deep breath, trying to overcome the knotting of my stomach that had accompanied me since morning. "Could you please prepare some light, cold food for me?" I asked in a calm voice.

She bowed her head obediently. "Yes, of course, I’ll attend to it right away."

I moved and sat on one of the chairs surrounding the large wooden kitchen table, slowly reaching my hand toward the fruit basket resting in the center. I took a ripe banana and began peeling it with fingers that trembled slightly from exhaustion. Suddenly, and without warning, I felt a powerful, terrifying presence invade the space behind me.

I glanced from the corner of my eye to find Cedric entering the kitchen with silent, confident steps, like a leopard stalking its prey. He advanced and pushed himself down right next to me on the adjacent seat, until our broad shoulders almost touched and I could feel the heat of his body piercing through me.

He looked directly into my face, speaking in a low, raspy tone laced with deep skepticism. "So, you’re starting work? Are you absolutely sure and sane enough to think you won’t collapse from extreme fatigue because of this stubborness?"

I averted my face from him in clear annoyance, squeezing the banana in my hand. "Cedric... please, don’t start lecturing me again. I’m in no mood for a debate."

He leaned his massive body toward me slightly until his breath brushed against me. "I’m not lecturing you," he said in a low voice. "I’m just worried about you and the safety of my children."

"I am pregnant, Cedric, not a helpless invalid," I said with stubborn defiance, breaking the banana in half with my hand. "Pregnancy is a completely normal, natural thing that all women go through. The doctor even told me that I need to move and get some light exercise because I’ve neglected my body lately."

He shrugged his broad shoulders with absolute coldness and indifference. "Fine... do whatever you want."

Then, his sharp, blade-like gaze dropped slowly to the piece of banana I was holding in my hand. He asked maliciously, raising an eyebrow, "I wonder... did you crave eating a banana in particular at this time?"

"No, I didn’t crave anything specific," I replied with utter spontaneity and innocence, taking a small bite. "I just saw it on the table and felt like eating it."

He murmured mysteriously, narrowing his eyes, "Mmm... I see."

I stopped chewing instantly, feeling suspicious of his tone. Looking at him sharply, I asked, "What is the meaning of that hum?"

"Nothing..." he said in a deep, raspy voice that sent shivers through my body. "I just thought you were craving something else entirely, something much harder." Then, he shamelessly and boldly lowered his gaze down toward his massive dick, which was tightly strained and visibly prominent under his tight jeans.

My eyes widened in shock, a crimson heat burning across my cheeks. I glanced around in terror, fearing the maids might notice us, and said in a hushed, angry, trembling voice, "You... you are a truly vulgar and despicable man!"

He brought his face even closer until our noses almost touched, his harsh gaze boring into my eyes, paralyzing my movement. "Tell me the truth, Stephanie," he commanded in a dictatorial tone. "Did you touch yourself last night in bed? Did you masturbate because I left you? Confess to me right now."

I felt my breath tighten and quicken. Defying his possessive gaze with wounded pride, and wanting to prove that I wasn’t entirely under his control, I said in a low, provocative voice, "Yes... yes, I did, and I enjoyed it immensely. So, what are you going to do about it?"

His powerful jaw clenched violently, the veins in his neck bulging. "So..." he said in a sharp tone carrying a terrifying threat, "you weren’t obedient, and you rebelled against my desire."

I tried to pull my body away and widen the distance between us, saying with extreme tension, my eyes tracking the movement of the maids by the stove, "Cedric... enough madness. Go away from here this instant before Alex comes and sees you like this, and we plunge into another massacre!"

"I don’t care about Alex or anyone else," he replied with extreme stubbornness and a provocative defiance, locking his seat in place. "All that concerns me and occupies my mind right now is you and this cursed body of yours."
